Hey everyone! I use to frequent this site back in its prime in 06-07. I don't buy boxes of cards anymore cause I feel like its a waste of money. I build football and basketball refractor sets. I don't know much about present card except that panini is cornering the market with there ugly overproduced cards. FYI, I only build topps refractor set. Currently working 08 bowman chrome football. Anyway wanted to try to come to this site again and see what is new and if anyone of the originals are still here and who are the new guys here.

I recently went to my first card show in town, San Antonio, Tx. It was a small one but it was pitiful. I think it was a kid and I only and like 5 sellers. I did pick up a PSA 6 Roger Maris. I'll post it up soon. But it is obvious its a dying hobby or just hitting a really weak time. Anyway I don't have a lot to trade but extra refractors but I would like to share my experiences with others. So hello everyone!!

I don't think the hobby is dying as it is very busy in some places. It is just pricing itself out of the younger generations interest and there is just too much cooler stuff for kids these days as opposed to a piece of cardboard IMO. Xbox, Ipod Touches, Ipads, PS4s, Hoverboards, etc. just gather more interest from today's generation. Shows are hit or miss depending on table pricing and locations. We have a few here that do OK as they have built up followings, but some just are priced too high for dealers to make money, so they don't show up. Think about spending $100 for a table (not at a mall) where you set up from say 8am-1pm and have to sell a lot more to cover the table costs. Shows where the tables are $20-30 get more dealers because it is easier to make that back in a 5 hour period and if you don't well you did n't loose too much.

Welcome back.

I agree with what Brian said about the hobby changing and pricing out the kids. Even pricing out us adults. As he said they have other interests, many of which are either cheaper or take more time and energy to pursue.

What I Collect
Washington DC area Sports teams and Vintage plus Non-Sport.
