Neat to see that kind of interaction between a player and a fan, however, I am sure the MLB is not happy with that as there is just too much risk for being sued.

It appears to be from the same pre-game batting practice (I suspected as much from a few quick pans near the end of the Gio video).

Nationals Pitcher Gio Gonzalez Plays Catch With Young Fan In Stands
"Not to be outdone, Dodgers pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu similarly played catch with a cute young fan on the opposite side of the stadium prior to the game"

Doesn't matter who was the first, just that they cared enough about the young'ens to do it.

I also liked the story of Matt Kemp giving his jersey, hat, and cleats to a young disabled fan. He signed a ball and proceeded to take off the above items and hand them to the young man.
