Back in college my friends called me smokey (no, it had nothing to do with smoking... I'm actually very against that).  I wanted to use "smokey" as my screen name on AIM (all the rage when I was in college), but as you might guess, that was taken.  Being a computer guy (read that as "nerd"), I went with "S lVl 0 K 3 Y".

The following year I met a girl (who eventually became my wife).  I was trying to give her my AIM screen name, but she couldn't get it right (even after I wrote it down).  Eventually I gave up and switched to "mike lindegarde" for my AIM screen name.  I figured she should be able to handle that and it matched my rather unimaginative personality anyway.

I've just been using my name ever since.

I like this one because it has a backdoor meaning..your girlfriend couldnt get it right..lol...

My highschool team was the bulldogs and my main focus is baseball cards so I put them together then replaced the s with a z.
