I just read that redemptions for ITG be a player draft cards will be printed by UD and then returned to nhlpa for mailing out. Since ITG lost license this had redemption holders on edge ...Im tellin ya UD got a monopoly deal from nhl and nhlpa for licensing...

I have one of these I forgot who and what year... Itll be interesting to see what happens?

Ace, where did you read that? Last I read on ITG's site they were still trying to come to an agreement on those with the NHL. The thought was that since the cards were licensed to be produced by ITG but could not be fulfilled within that year that the license is still in effect to produce them.

OK, sorry, I do not look at Becketts site, but I was on ITGs last week and had not seen anything on this. This is disappointing as UD can barely handle their own redemptions. I waited 10 months for a Sean Taylor auto only to have them replace it, and my last redemption was a Zach Thomas auto which I waited 7 months for. Also, who will I get? I have one from 02-03 for the Penquins Rookie, who has yet to play, will I get him or who will I get? ITG promised they would offer a "replacement" if the player never makes it to the NHL. This is interesting, and also very scary to me. I do not like the lack of competition in the hockey card market.

I visited several sites this afternoon looking for the story/details elsewhere, but Beckett is the only place with this story so far. I guess the story is not really that surprising though. Once ITG lost its license, I just didn't see how they were going to be allowed to manufacture any NHL cards.

Well, my question would be isn't a contract a contract? The NHL and NHLPA knew by entering into the agreement with ITG that there would need to be future production of those draft cards when the players hit the ice, therefore there should be an implied right for ITG to produce those cards under the agreed contract. If UD is producing them I hope ITG gets some compensation in return. ITG is to hockey card collectors, what Wayne Gretzky is to hockey.

Bob, do you know who UD has in their player "stable" besides Gretzky? Just curious if anyone has heard as Lemeiux was tied to ITG, and I am not sure who he is with now.

Thanks for the information. Bummer still, I will miss NHL card products by ITG.
