CBS Sportsline is also reporting the same. Kind of shocking. Hope he sticks it out.

Ian Rapoport of the Boston Herald tweeted this:

"Having covered 49ers RB Glen Coffee for 3 years, not surprised he retired. He has a higher call. Wouldn't shock me if he headed to ministry"

Thats a shocker! I was actually thinking about picking up one of his autographs a week or so ago.

Yup, glad I dumped that dual Exq. AU of his with Crabtree. I was fixin' to cop a few of his AUs. He'll probably make more as a preacher if he's any good. cool.gif

Kinda shocking! If he wanted to do something else, at least play for 5-6 maybe 7 years build up some really nice bank and go do whatever you please! Most people are lucky to ever have a shot at pro sports and hes just going to let it go without really giving it a little time. But its his life to do what he wants. And if he does something he really wants to do and love then more power to him. smile.gif

what a shame! kind of reminds me of when Quinn Pitcock (talented DT) quit on the Colts for no reason! Maybe he will change his mind, never know!

i know we all jump the gun but this is another reason why we shouldn't

it is official, he is retiring to had to the ministry. He said he found God in college and wants to achieve his higher calling

I'm shocked at all the negativity in this thread.

He doesn't "owe it" to anyone to play. If he found his true calling elsewhere, major props to him for following it.

I agree. However, I do understand the point of view that says he is passing up gobs of $, and he should just tough it out for a few years, but I admire his conviction. Best of luck to him.

I first found out about this from the Viks vs 49ers game I was shocked.

I also found out he was quiting to worship the Lord. Either way Im just glad I got rid of all my Coffee stuff. I wish he would have stayed, I mean he looked good in his short play time last year.

I also was gonna post this after reading the first few threads but 2000 beat me to it.
