My aunt is dealing with this right now with her 9 year old son. He wants one SOOO bad... But he is WAY too young. I got mine when I started high school, so 14. But I think when a child is starting to go out on their own, then they should have a cell phone. Like when a friend and them go out to the mall or whatever. That way when they need a ride or need help, they can call their parents.
It's a tricky question but it really all depends on the child. I say no younger than 14 though.

Personally I don't care which one we do, Ice seems good to me.

Also I'm not entirely sure if I'll be around for the break, school and such so I just might be working on that.

I think you should call Apple before doing anything, it's possible they have a way to get it working without you having to pay someone to do it for you smile.gif

QUOTE(Boston5761 @ Mar 5 2009, 05:52 PM)
$26 dollars a person for box(es) that run $325? If you sell 25 spots at $26 bucks that's $650 dollars! Paypal, Shipping, Supplies and DC do not run $300 dollars plus.

Where's the extra cash going? Just curious.
*

I'm in first of all.

Second of all, we only have 15 teams, the others are drafted so thus, we're paying $26 for two teams...

AND the rest is for shipping. Mattymak and I live in Canada so it IS a little bit more expensive with the majority of the rest of the group living in the US.

AND It's usually more than one box.

That help?

QUOTE(Luke2411 @ Feb 5 2009, 04:45 PM)
I seriously disagree with the notion that a teacher is supposed to always encourage students to "follow their dreams."  Some students are just not talented in the areas they think they are talented in.  I call this the "American Idol" phenomenon.  There are many many people out there that have been told by their parents, teachers and friends that they are "good" at something they truly are not good at, because those parents, teachers, and friends didn't have the gumption to be honest with the person and tell them the truth.  We see these people on Idol all the time. They REALLY think they are good singers, but any casual observer would be able to tell them differently.  However, in the interest of not discouraging their son/daughter, friend, or student, they have family members, teachers and friends who continue to mislead them, which ultimately will lead to more frustration and heart ache in the end.

A good teacher identifies the strengths and weaknesses of his/her students and encourages them to play to their strengths and not waste time dreaming about their weaknesses.  Perhaps your teacher was trying to do this.  If what you're saying is true, she definitely could have chosen a better way of discussing it with you, but she may very well be spot on in assessing your ability to be a journalist.

I firmly believe that everyone has an ability to succeed, but not everyone has the ability to succeed in everything or anything they want to be.  I was never going to be able to play NBA basketball, no matter how much I dreamed and dreamed about it.  I was not fast enough and not tall enough.  No matter how much I worked and worked, that dream would not come true.  I just wasn't made to do that. (And if anyone wants to talk about Spud Webb, notice I said fast enough as well).  But I was made to do other things, and I've been very successful in those.  But, where do you think I'd be today if the only thing I had ever tried to be was an NBA Basketball player, and regardless of how little ability I had at playing basketball everyone had always told me I was great, when really they knew I wasn't?
*

In all fairness, teachers should encourage and at least try to help their students when they notice them starting to struggle. After all, in college students are PAYING these teachers to TEACH them. To put down a student is just rude and immature. I've had teachers do the same to me and I went to the dean and instantly dropped the class.

Think about this. If your child was in say grade 2 and their teacher says "You can't be a fireman! You're too skinny and you don't even have the smarts to know which boot goes on what foot! You'll never make it!" ... How does that child feel? The same goes for adults. We may be adults, but we don't need people constantly putting us down. Sure we may not have the talents for some things but we CAN learn and try to work at picking up those talents that come so easy to people. If your boss came to you and started screaming at you that you screwed up the past five reports and you are worthless to the agency, you'd feel lower than low. As a student, we're paying to learn, we want to be able to succeed. Which is why I find it insane when teachers who KNOW they have students struggling not taking them aside and saying "I understand this is a struggle for you, do you need any help?" That's all it takes.

Matt and I are trying to decide if we should use my paypal or his. We're already aware his takes for-frikking-ever so we might end up using mine. I'll talk to him when he gets home (which will be in about an hour) and let you know which paypal we're using.

QUOTE(MattyMak @ Jan 10 2009, 08:50 PM)
me and krista aren't all that "enthusiastic" about sweet shot, so would it be possible to maybe, if you guys don't mind, drop a tin or two and throw something else in there?? if it comes out in time, how about the 08/09 SPX?? its got five hits, so that would be a fair trade off... or even get rid of the white death!!! AKA SPA, its only got 3 autos for a hundred dollars... if we wanna get more hits and less base, why not get something else? cuz i know we've got a bit or SPA so far... like if we dropped a tin of sweetshot and the SPA, we could throw in something like 08/09 BD and Artifacts, or another box of 08/09 Trilogy??
*

Yeah, I'm not fond of sweet shot. IMO it's not the greatest stuff to open(And that's me being nice laugh.gif ). Like Matt said I'd prefer Artifacts or SPX(if it comes out on time anyway).

Huh. This is the first time I've objected in this break haha.
