The q-tip thing might work! Or maybe use go-gone (at your own risk). I personally would take the whole thing apart (done it many times with my ps2) but that also voids the warranty. I don't care because might went out the window years ago! Alcohol will clean stuff like that but will also dry stuff out! So it might not be the best thing. Thats about all I can tell you. Just use water on the q-tip first, might take a few times. But is also a lot safer. If it works great if not then try the next set with the alcohol!

Taking most things like this is not that hard! In my PS2 there is only like 4-5 big parts to it and a few little things. Just make out a sheet of paper and put the parts on it and list it 1,2,3,4,5, etc and when you go to put it back together go in reverse!
