Collector Zone _ Group Box Breaks _ Boxbreakers November High End FB Group Break

Posted by: crpalmi Nov 8 2012, 01:49 PM

Welcome back to the High End Group Break as we continue our 6th year together! After taking the month of October off we are back for another break. We have talked alot about the future of the break and while there have been some good suggestions I am not yet making any changes. I have moved our #2 breaks to another site and my hope is that through that we can drive more traffic to this break on TCC. I have the proposed product list below. Let me know as soon as possible if you are dropping or changing teams so I can keep the list accurate. Note also that if you are interested in joining but your team shows as claimed just let me know as we may have an opening in our "High End 2" group for you! I set the product list for a budget of filling 21 teams so we will hopefully not have to cut anything and can hopefully add to the list!

Cost: $115 ($112 for each additional) Draft Slots: $45
Payment Due Date: November 18th
Break Date: November 30th

Please remember Paypal will no longer be accepted. Please send Money Order or cashiers check to;

Hi Chris, sorry I'm going to drop out. The packers are available.

Posted by: Cardman123 Nov 11 2012, 10:10 PM

I'm in with the Rams and a draft spot, assuming we get the needed participation. Will need to drop out if the product line gets cut.

i'll take packers if available thanks

In!

Posted by: crpalmi Nov 15 2012, 05:29 PM

I'll be able to let you know on the Packers by tomorrow as a new collector claimed them but may be backing out now.

Either way guys, this doesn't look good at all. I think we're at an all-time low for team count so we may need to shut it down for this month and try again after the holidays with a new format. Right now I'm thinking team cost of $200, cap it at 16 teams if we can get that and break every other month. I'll keep themselves thread open for now but I would hold off on sending any payment. Still have open teams in our other groups as it looks like they'll still run this month but those will most likely take December off as well.

Posted by: 19th Century Indiana Jones Nov 15 2012, 07:31 PM

I'm in for that. This high-end may be cost-prohibitive so doing it every other month may be a good solution.

You got it.

I am officially going to close this one down for November and December and we'll start up with the new format starting in late January. Team cost will be $200 and we'll break every other month. We'll try to cap it at 16 teams so everyone can get an extra random team.

For those that still want to break this month the High End #2 group is still going to break 2010/2011/2012 products and we have some great openings with these teams available;

Bills
Cardinals
Chargers
Eagles
Jaguars
Jets
Raiders
Ravens
Texans
Titans
Vikings

Both Hobby groups also have teams open.

What site is hosting those breaks Chris? If you don't want to put it out publicly, please PM me. Might pick up Rams in Hobby 2.

Thanks,
Joe

Dropping the Jags

Posted by: crpalmi Dec 15 2012, 09:31 AM

Hey guys, just updating the site with the January breaks and unfortunately I still don't see any 2012 product worthy of the new "Ultra" high end group break as this will be known going forward. I am proposing pushing it off another month and break in February when 2012 Five Star is released. We can then continue on with a break every other month for this one while the others will continue to be monthly.

The format will carry a team price of $200 so it's actually less than the current budget over a 2 month period and while I was going to cap it at 16 we currently have more than that and if we can add more funds to the budget I don't see why not go for that so the current product list budget was set for 18 teams (at $200) at another 11 draft slots (to participants only) at $55. That should allow us 3 nice cases which I have slated right now as 2 cases of 2012 Five Star and a case of 2011 Exquisite. If we fill more we can obviously add more to the list.

Let me know your thoughts on this and most importantly the proposal to hold off the restart of this group to February.

Hey guys...2012 Topps Five Star was pushed back a month and now shows a release date of March 27th. Rather than push this break off another month I am now proposing we break in January with our new format and that will line us up for a March break as Five Star and NT both show a late March release. Some decent sales on Exquisite should allow us to offer this product list... let me know what you think?

I vote no because Upper Deck does not honor expired redemptions AT ALL and 2010 and 2011 is just college based stuff, which I hate. I will probably have to drop my spot if it runs with this lineup because it isn't worth my money.

I hear you Joe, I know there are alot of strong feelings around Exquisite. I can't find any 2010 Five Star as that could be an option to mix it up if I could. Keep the opinions coming or better yet, suggestions on possible product lineups.

Yeah, I know there are some collectors that are really big fans of the college-based Exquisite, I'm just not one of them. My biggest objection is the redemption issue...they put too many of them in there and do nothing to honor their customers who pull expired ones.

I'm not a huge fan of Panini products, but I will give them credit that they are excellent in honoring expired redemptions or making sure you get something in return.

Posted by: BOBKONING Jan 2 2013, 11:49 PM

I'd like to see some 2012... sigh... How about Panini Black and Boman Sterling? They both look good? Mix in some 2011?

Posted by: dvashun74 Jan 3 2013, 02:04 AM

I'm good with going with Black or Sterling. I know that these do not meet the Ultra high end that this group is targeting but at least it keeps us on track for Jan/Mar breaks. Also we could keep going with '11 products. I thought I saw some Five Star on sale someplace.

I'd vote for Contenders as well. It will really make Chris work! hammer.gif

Posted by: booth9919 Jan 6 2013, 07:51 AM

I would be down for a break in the beginning of February, once it was said this months break was canceled I used that money on something else! Could maybe swing at the end of the month.

Posted by: crpalmi Jan 7 2013, 09:13 AM

I just don't see anything that will work for most people so I'm going to shelve it for january. The other hobby breaks and High End #2 will proceed as planned in case anybody is interested you can check out the Boxbreakers website and I'll work on getting the threads up in the next day or two.

Ok guys, we're going to try it this month. While I want to include a 2012 product we will only have a small portion of the budget for that to allow for the bigger stuff from previous years. Here's the expected product list with the team fee at $200 and draft slots at $60.

2012 Black Case (5 Boxes)
2011 Five Star Case (3 Boxes)
2010 National Treasures Case (4 Boxes)
2007 Exquisite (2 Boxes)

TheBoxbreakers website is up to date for all the monthly breaks and I'll be posting threads soon!
