Got an e-mail today from Blog TV telling me they are merging with YouNow, and giving me a link to convert. You have to log in with your FaceBook account.

I refuse to use Facebook.

When I click ot the FAQ "What if I don't have a Facebook account" it responds with a link to set one up!

If this is the wave of the future...I'm out.

I send them an e-mail, which I expect they will ignore. However, if this is true, I will stop participating in anything on BlogTV/YouNow.

(This should free up some money from Group Breaks I drop!)

I heard back from them. Here's what they said:

YouNow is currently designed to work with Facebook registration only. We do this to authenticate our users, and provide an open and intimate experience.

I'm done.

I just saw the email but haven't tried switching. I am only registered with BlogTV to see some of the videos from a few breaks since it required a membership to do something I wanted to do at the time.

It stinks that they (YouNow) REQUIRES an FB account for everyone even if you don't have FB. Well there is still YouTube and Ustream I don't think they require FB (or do they now?)

had to edit since the "s" word for what a vacuum cleaner does isn't an acceptable word here, changed it to "stinks"

I don't care for Facebook, not my thing and not a member. I guess I am out of luck as well???

I agree, completely, Brian. As much as as dislike uStream, it does look like I'll be having to get used to it all over again.

I have Facebook but I don't like associating it with other things... I deleted my BlogTV account (Never really liked BlogTV much). I still have Ustream which I have used for a while and even with its problems I have gotten used to I guess.

Pretty lame was of doing things making you only register that way. But then I never like change no matter what it is. Already have FB though so guess I just have to decide once Blog goes away.

I have seen a few breaks hosted on Vaughnlive, and they have looked great! The picture quality is better than Blog, with no pop-ups!

They're a good option for those who do not like ustream.

Yes have to join to chat...well ok there is a way to allow guests to chat, but would make it confusing to know that guest123546 is so and so, as it changes guest number every time they log in. Only different thing there is you are supposed to be 18 to be able to sign up, and there is currently no PM system in place (hearing this summer maybe), other than that very similar to Blog and a much better video and sound from what I have seen wandering around it. The Mod controls similar with a few other options far as what you allowing in your room and what you can do to folks.
