Collector Zone _ Steals _ What would you pay for this?

Posted by: northicehero99 Nov 13 2005, 05:22 PM

Ok, bought a lot of cards off of my dealer and I am curious what you would pay for this lot?? Here are the cards:

2001 Fleer Legacy #92 David Terrell Autographed/Postmarked Rookie Card # 007/999 BV $30
2002 Gridiron Kings Jeremy Shockey Rookie #136 BV $12
2005 Honors Football rookies:
#108 Erasmus James
#110 Fabian Washington
#114 Alex Smith TE
#120 Jerome Mathis
#128 Damien Nash (X2)
#133 Cedric Houston
#136 Dante Ridgeway (X2)
#144 Matt Cassel
#149 Ryan Fitzpatrick

All of these are football cards. I love the David Terrell as it shows him pictured running, then a face shot, then a $0.34 stamp with the Baltimore Postmark of 9/9/2001, and his autograph. This looks like this was a nice set to build too bad I did not do much football that year.

Just curious what you would have paid. Let me know and I will tell you based on the results whether I got a deal or not.

Weel I'm not one to buy what I can't see. But just on an assumption $15 tops
I don't like anyone on the list so I personally would not pay that much for it. Now had I seen the card and they were cool looking as you described the auto/stamp may reconsider. LMK how you actually did! Also if you paid more what cards drew your attention!

Anyone else want to venture their thoughts?? Come on, I want to hear from you.

Posted by: aceecards Nov 14 2005, 08:24 AM

Id say ya got the whole lot for $5.00....

Theres not that much there in the way of salable cards realistically...

David terrell is not in league anymore...
The shockey rookie is one of about 100 different ones issued.

The Honors you can still pull in packs...cheap...

$5.00 was the price of your steal....

They came out of A $2 bin, A $1 bin, and the rest 5/$1 bin cards.

aceecards and meuandthelot,

What's the maximum you would pay for the lot?

Remember I am a set "builder" so the Shockey and the Honors RCs interested me from that point. The Terrell is one of the nicest card designs I have seen, it is a little crowded, but this would be super cool with a Rothlisberger or Brady, etc.

50% of the responders said over $10, 50% of the responders said $5 and under. OK, I paid $8 for the lot, which I thought was pretty good. Based on your comments I think I did OK, and this was probably not a steal unless one of the RCs pans out. When I bought the Terrell I was not aware he was not playing (practice squad with Denver?), but I bought the card for the way it looks more than anything. It is the uniquest design in a sea of boring auto cards. As for the Honors RCs I thought this was a deal because they are one per box, so to pull that many would have cost me $500 buying boxes, and with what I pulled in my box, I would not want to do that. Thanks for everyone's input, this was enjoyable! Good Luck stealing your next deal!

2001 Fleer Legacy #92 David Terrell Autographed/Postmarked RC # 007/999 BV $30 I paid $3
2002 Gridiron Kings Jeremy Shockey Rookie #136 BV $12 I paid $1
2005 Honors Football rookies: I paid $4 for the lot
#108 Erasmus James
#110 Fabian Washington
#114 Alex Smith TE
#120 Jerome Mathis
#128 Damien Nash (X2)
#133 Cedric Houston
#136 Dante Ridgeway (X2)
#144 Matt Cassel
#149 Ryan Fitzpatrick

$8 for over $42 in cards isn't bad - especially from a dealer.

A sad but true reflection of the times...

Ill bet the dealer was happy to move them at any price...

In my humble opinion...

I really don't do BV, I went to the Nationals in Chicago and never looked at BV once. If I like it.. I buy it wink.gif
After each day, My Brother & Brother-In-Law had a blast figuring out how I made out, errr lost in some cases..lol

It was a nice buy based on the Terrell card alone, and I would have paid $8..Maybe $10-$11 if they were cards needed for sets.

PS: I really like the Honors set, but as Ace mentioned there's just tooo much product, and tooo many people willing to bust boxes for the "Hits" leaving the base rc's for the .10cent bins sad.gif Not saying it's right or wrong....people just don't seem to care.
Finally, After years of bulk buying AND hoping that collectors would realize how freaking nice 75% of the sets are, which hasn't happened because companies create limited'er sets as the year goes on wink.gif
I've gotten more selective in my buying. IE: Why buy base Rc's when I can get an SP, or #'d(Like Finest) for same price.
That's Why I find trading sites like this rewarding...they enable a person to get some worth, using the BV for BV smile.gif

Now let's see if this made ANY sense..lol

Fairly good, I'll leave it biggrin.gif

All of the rookies in Honors were numbered out of 699, so they are "shortprints", even though they are relatively "common". At one per box, I do not find them to be very common. As for good hits from this product, I have not seen any pulled, but they probably exist. I am not sure how many dealers are busting Honors over Finest, etc.

Posted by: northicehero99 Nov 16 2005, 01:04 PM

OK, here is a scan of the David Terrell autograph.

Not at all common, my lack of /699 knowledge would have cost me a bargain. Thanks for the future reference.

Plus this goes with what I was saying..Soo much limited product, Fleer Avant's /699(Actually most Fleer) are another sweet looking bargain product. So much to buy, not enough green to go around smile.gif

BTW- The Terrell card is Sweeet!!

Posted by: Bondsaway Nov 16 2005, 04:35 PM

Yeah I think it looks great. Did ok by me.
