Product seems very limited for our budget, so if you have secret sources or better options please post them. I cannot believe how much boxes have gone up.

Honestly if the trend continues I think it might be time to retire from the hobby. 4 hits for $450 is just not worth it IMO. Our only other option might be to pre-order the better stuff. If you know of something better please post it. TY

Wow, yeah choice selection has been slim, I'll have a look around tonight on a few sites, was 2021 Artifacts available? Jacking the price because of covid19 and more people at home like us busting boxes with unemployment funds, Gamestop had record profits and I'm sure the same with UD.

2021 Artifacts is in a few of the lists. I will be honest though, I am not thrilled with the configuration this year. Was in a break where two boxes of three were all numbered parallels with no autos, aurums, rookie redemptions, or game used in those boxes. That is ridiculous for the price. I liked that product better when each box had 2-3 hits and a rookie redemption. Some boxes have 3-4 hits, but still insane risk for the chance at nothing but some numbered parallels. As I said above if it continues this way, I will be retiring from breaks and just start buying what I want on ebay. Might as well be buying a lottery ticket as that seems to be where the hobby is at right now, except UDs lottery tickets aren't a few dollars.

I agree, I've been buying the cards I need on Ebay and on Facebook, the odds of hitting any Red Wings in breaks has been hard on me, over $1000 this year in case breaks/half case group breaks, and maybe a few nice hits out of it.

So, not sure, I never checked out anything last night, Let's wait for pre sell maybe, or just go with this grouping for now

I think that UD is basing it's products on breakers hoping for the lottery hit more than set chasers or team collectors. They started watering down products last year with things like Stature, Credentials, OPCP, Synergy which all have maybe one hit or less per box and were selling in the $80+ range, and people ate those up, so why not keep with that concept, printing parallels is cheaper than buying jerseys or player autos to stick in boxes and they don't have to deal with redemptions and that whole fiasco. I hated the overproduction and underpriced jersey cards of the early 2000s, but I would take that back versus now with the overpriced boxes with no jerseys. I just don't see the value in numbered parallel cards, unless numbered 1/1 or maybe under 10 for bigger stars as there would be interest in those to drive the price up somewhat.

A LOT of singles have been going up on Ebay, especially PSA 10s of current stuff. Could that be driving up the prices of cases/boxes?

Maybe pool up the money for 3 months and do a case break on a nice product?

Reading some hobby articles, as well as watching some videos on Youtube, it looks like the secondary market for cards is hot for the first time since the 90's. Unfortunately, it's only really hot for high end graded cards.

My guess is that Upper Deck is responding to that demand by increasing the scarcity of their hits and also raising the price.

They are frankly pricing buyers like ourselves out of the market.

Are there any reasonably priced products coming out in the next few months? If so, I'd be good with waiting. If not, I'll go along with whatever the rest of the group wants to do.

Things coming out:
UD S2 hobby March 10, right now they are $120 presale.
Black Diamond March 3, right now $299 presale.
Leaf In The Game Used, just came out at $250 with 5 hits.
Synergy just came out at $130 a box no hits guaranteed.
Artifacts as well at $140 and supposed to be hits, but as noted breaks I have seen have varied.

I would not mind trying the Leaf In The Game Used. Something different.

Or we could double up, order 3 boxes UD S2 hobby $360, Black Diamond $300, and In The Game Used $250, which totals $910 which would be slightly over 2 months fees for all, assuming 15 are in. 15 x $30 (after shipping, supplies, pp fees $5) x 2 = $900 budget.

Thoughts? If we do this we need the money in to Mark to order at presale prices.

Could also change out a box of UD S2 hobby for Allure $85 or Synergy/Artifacts?
