Hey guys, looked for some deals during Black Friday etc. Couldn't find many spectacular ones but there were some good ones. I barely break anymore so this is my time to go crazy and this year I did lol. Here's what will go down. More stuff than last year. Last year nearly half of it was hobby but now it is more retail-oriented.
Hope you liked the presentation lol. Also there will be 9 packs of 11/12 Victory. I'm going to open a few things up until Christmas just because of how much crap there is and some things will be more fun than others. Currently I am busting the NBA Hoops.
Looking good!
Good luck
good luck
prepare for a ton of base
Thanks guys. Oh yes acee I'm ready, I think. Couple of these will be made into sets etc. I'll have the NBA Hoops up shortly. I didn't want to break the only bball so soon but I had to tackle it right away.
Ok here's the first break:
2012/13 NBA Hoops Retail Box
36 packs and 5 cards per.

Franchise Greats Abdul-Jabbar, Dr. J, Ewing, Shaq, Olajuwon, Isiah Thomas
Rookie Impact Josh Harrellson

Parallels
Glossy Jerome Jordan
I didn't do much research on this product because I thought I knew it well enough. Has probably the largest base set out of all this year's bball products. Stated there were 100 rookies, including last year's rookies too. I expected maybe a 50/50 split for the past 2 years. Nope, 80 of them are last year. Only 20 rookies from a normal product is a little abysmal. I was wondering what was going on when through my first 10 packs, I hadn't seen one true rookie card. So if you are looking for more rookies, try Panini Prestige. It also appears there will be a regular Panini release in a couple months. To my surprise it only has a 150-base set compared to the larger set 3 years ago.
So pretty much these are the ratios for this kind of box:
Inserts- 1:2 packs (including the one parallel)
Rookies - 1:4 packs
Hope this review may be useful to some. Stay tuned to whatever's next.
That looks like a lot of boxes, good luck. Good review on the Hoops.

This was a nice cheap break, got plenty of cards of guys I've never had. You can get all this for 12.95 at DA! Can get around 80% of the base set. Funny how I didn't find one Tape Measure Shots insert, while I had 2 from a few packs 2 years ago. Next break will be a football, not sure which but not the one from 98.
Some great stuff so far.
Thanks Kirk.
Next up is:

Inserts

I got this for 6.95 so pretty good value along with the other stuff.
The next one is a small one. 2 packs of 09/10 UD Ice. Just base.
Vesa Toskala, Evgeni Nabokov, Paul Kariya, Kyle Okposo, Thomas Vanek, Patrik Elias, Carey Price, Patrik Berglund, Milan Hejduk, Zdeno Chara.
Also if you guys want to check my autograph thread in Show and Tell, I'm going to update it tomorrow. I did the Lakers today and some other things.
Good luck with the rest!
I still need the following Pete Rose base, if you get extras:
26
37
44
I have a bunch of extras to trade if you need any.
Merry Christmas to you guys. Hope everyone has been enjoying themselves. My next break is:

Nice cheap break. But the extras are plentiful from 08/09 Victory. 42, nearly 25% of the total cards. I don't know if this is classified as retail or hobby but that's plenty. But for like 10 bucks, maybe even less, can't complain. Also disappointed I only got 2 Sharks, fewest out of all the teams. Come check back for whatever I break next.
Got a big break out of the way here.
2011 Score Football Rak Pak Box

I actually pulled a Scorecard insert of Moss sometime ago in the couple packs I've actually bought. Got some nice RCs. After the last pack I saw that I was 1 base short of the set, Davone Bess! I couldn't believe it, hilarious. However I check my doubles and I had him in there...If I recall I did the same thing with 09/10 Panini BKB a year or 2 ago. I can't believe how I remember these things...Up next I might list a hockey one. Thanks for reading.
lets get some biggies
Let's hope Acee.
Next up...not much of an actual break. It is a set.

Cool break for 12.95 I should say. Next break will be either football or the Pete Rose.
Here's the next break:
2011 TriStar Obak Football 24-Pack Lot
24 packs and 5 cards per. T212 mini in every pack. This was a retail lot I found on DA for 9.99, you can still get it for that price at this moment. I only got around half of the base set, no SPs.
Parallels
There are only 24 of the T212 minis in the set, I thought each of the base would have their own mini. Got doubles of them too, lets just say I had 1:6 chance of finding a Kurt Warner mini.
Warner x4, Bronko Nagurski x3, John Cappelletti x3, Vince Lombardi x2, Bart Starr x2, Bo Jackson x2, Rocky Bleier x2, Walter Camp x2, Benny Friedman, Poe Brothers, Bear Bryant, JFK
If you are an extreme football enthusiast, you will love this set. I was hoping for more notable players but good stuff. Some cards in the set are Heisman, Lambeau and others that made trailblazing strides in football's early days. Also find some greats like Baugh, Unitas, Hornung, Sayers, Staubach, Bear Bryant, Bart Starr etc. I'm going for the set so my stuff is FT. But I don't want to trade for just 1 or 2 things.
I also checked out the Pete Rose product. Didn't look at the auto, it's in a toploader apart from the packs. Could be a base auto, could be a redemption for a signed item, have a feeling it's a regular auto.
Up next I think will be the Panini Pinnacle hockey and then save the "old school" football (and I say old school loosely) last. I'm kind of looking forward to that one too, should be pretty fun.

I have all the hits from the products saved, all of them are a surprise to me too. I will do an old school style break of them tomorrow or Weds night, I will update you guys. Last break remaining is 1998 UD Choice football. I opened one pack last night, I'll post it just for fun.
Herman Moore, Takeo Spikes RC, Doug Flutie, Jason Hanson, Darrell Green, Chad Brown, Cris Carter StarQuest, Mark Brunell StarQuest
Awesome going back in time here. There are at least 2 StarQuest inserts per pack. Maybe I can get a Peyton Manning or Randy Moss RC, who knows. Wish me luck with it.
Nice rookies in the Pinnacle with the AP-Paajarvi and the Sequin. Can't wait to hear what you pulled auto/gu from those boxes. Good luck, hope you got some big hits.
Some decent breaks in there for most of it being retail!
And I like that 98 starquest fb product. thinking about picking up some myself.
Thanks Brian & Cleveland.
OK last product of the break.

Missing only one from the set! SQ-29. Hilarious. Couple packs even had the same guy for both inserts...

StarQuest*** Red (1:23)

Parallels

There were also cards part of the base set where fans sent in submissions of their own cards of a player, "draw your own card". Also I didn't know this but each box has a "box-bottom" card along with the 2 bonus packs. It's a 5x7 sized card. I liked mine, it was Trent Dilfer. Fun break. Did get some doubles but not many, and not even one Jet card. The 5x7 card was a nice surprise though.
Now for the rest of the hits...I said I would do it either tonight or tomorrow. I will give a heads-up later if I decide to do it tonight. Amazing how I've been able to keep from looking at them huh? Honestly it's not a challenge for me. So looks like there are 4 GU and 4 autos, 2 of them baseball and the rest hockey. Stay tuned.
OK guys check back here in around 2 hours, I will check out my hits from the breaks. If I do it a little earlier or later, I will update you.
OK guys I will be doing this at 9PM so try and be here by then.
OK let me kick this off!
First up, from 2010 UD baseball:
Jose Reyes UD Game Jersey
Won't complain about a Met!
Next up, the RC auto from 10/11 Score Hockey Box Set:
Mattias Tedenby
I'll admit I did know it was a Devil from accidently seeing the logo on the back.
Next one I believe is from 11/12 Score Hockey:
Brad Staubitz Auto
Never heard of the guy. Looks like a tough winger.
This is from the Pete Rose product. Only question is if it's a card signature or item redemption.
It's not a redemption.

For the 3rd hit:
Vincent Lecavalier GU - Threads 289/499
And the final hit:
Nice, a patch. My first for hockey!
Ryan Miller - Threads 03/25
The patch is from their late 90s-mid 00s jerseys.
I'll get pics up of the hits by tomorrow.
Here's the goods. Also adding pictures of the hits to each entry.
Nice hits overall. Tedenby is pretty good and that Miller is sweet looking. I am sure you can find a Sabres fan interested in that. Thanks for sharing your break with us.
Thanks alot Brian. I actually want to keep the Miller. It's my first patch I pulled for hockey.
