Well what I got from the main PO yesterday as I can no longer mail handwritten customs forms from the contracted postal station (USPS really perturbing me right now), so had to go to the main PO where they usually only have one clerk in a town of 50,000 people. A large envelope is considered a package if any of the following apply: over 3/4" thick not uniform in thickness is rigid so their definition of what I get online of rigid is still: QUOTE A mailpiece is flexible if it can bend at least 1 inch vertically without being damaged and it does not contain a rigid insert. If the large envelope is over 10 inches long, it must be able to flex at least 2 inches. Which by that if you bend a toploader 1 inch vertically there is a good chance the card can get creased, especially with a GU piece as those really susceptible to creasing in the GU window. So again it comes down to normal USPS baloney that each PO will have it's own idea on the rules and will charge different and tell you different things, but I have no faith in them following Non-machinable even if you paid for it, as can't see them doing anything by hand until it gets stuck in their sorting machines which at that point it is too late. Also according to her she didn't think it had tracking unlike what the website made it sound like it was included now in the new postage rate, guess I will have to try the Customs Number once it is rec'd to see as that is only number on the receipt. So a 4.7oz. package cost me $8.55 to send to Canada. USPS is going to lose lots of revenue from this IMHO, but doubtful that they will figure that out and change their rates, as I can't recall them ever lowering price on anything. Only plus now is that in country packages now have tracking included, so you don't have to pay extra for DC anymore to confirm it was dlvd.

Cost $6.55 for package, but worse than that was a 10 minute wait as clerk had to hand type all the customs information into the system. He explained that is why it went up in price and it is still "cheaper" than the competition. So I am thinking what competition was he talking about? In addition, he said there is no "delivery confirmation" even though they go through this process, so now I am wondering who came up with this idea? Nice they cut down the number of people at the windows, only to make them spend a longer amount of time processing customers. Nice that we live in an age of computers, but we make the process less efficient. You would think when you reduce the number of workers you would want to make things easier and faster, not longer and slower?

Well the competition is UPS and FedEx, neither of which is reasonable in price. Still no reason for the Postal Service to double their rates. I was wondering what she was doing typing so much. That explains why USPS won't let them accept hand written ones at the contracted one, they have a computer that you can do one online for an extra dollar. So maybe there is a way to do it online, but then you have to have a scale to enter the weight and all that. So they trying to keep tabs on who ships what where and who it goes to? Rather fishy if you ask me, and totally no logic in the "it is better now" as it costs more/takes more time/and still no tracking even though online makes it sound like it. What a joke.

Wait wait wait. How is my small town post office better here? lol I expect city ones to be speedy, efficient. I mailed 11 packages all over the world today. Ones using this type of envelope: Cost around $2.25 for what I send, which is a few ounces (stamps, postcards, covers, etc). I could easily send the same with a GU or a couple other cards in loaders, even reinforcing with more cracker box cardboard. Now, a yellow padded envelope, yeah.. $8 was today's winner winner. However, I never had to type customs slips? I write them out, in fact the clerk in my rinky-dink town insisted on showing me how to fill out the new slips with a pen.
"My common sense is tingling..."

They allowed you to have a pen at the post office?? B. Wombats can write? I have to get a picture of that and send it in to one of the tabloid magazines and get rich!!!!

You can do it online if you have a account with the PO, with the Custom Forms, just need to have a Form on hand for the Number to type in on the web site, this way they will just weight it and scan it, still cost a arm and leg and a couple of fingers $49 bucks to mail Feb. Hockey Box Break packages today, just unreal! My days of trading have hit a end with these cost, sure the Box Break rates will go up also, which I will not do if hits $30 a slot! Will see on that, mainly cause I love the Breaks! With that, from 2008 to 2013, I have some awsome cards, more than I ever had, I have almost every awsome Red Wings RC that you could ever get, GU and almost every Red Wings Player AU! Think I will take a break form it all, but not leave the hobby, I'm having some cards Graded at SCF, and think I will just be grading my cards as far as spending goes, but wont be collecting anymore, just for now anyways

QUOTE(redwing40 @ May 29 2013, 10:52 AM) Just don't know how long my interest in collecting will last, I'm at a point where my thrill is gone, trades are becoming less and less, I have a very nice collection already, not sure what to do next! Last time I felt this way I packed up my cards and stored them away for 10 year's! Choices will be in the making! Paul, it is just a hobby, that can be put aside here and there. One of your drawbacks this year is due to no new rookies and very few new products this year which is probably impacting your feelings and the number of cards to collect. Have you tried focusing on a specific player or set? Sometimes that gets me out of my funk.

Yeah, maybe so Brian, plus ITG Motown didn't thrill me one bit, as you can tell I didn't get any yet, and the teletubby player the Wings picked up for 12-13 RCs plus no Canada trades are hurting me, which was one of my main trade ports, $6 kills me for mailing and the process I have to go through over a one card trade I'm not the set collector, I would like too, but don't have the time or money, I mostly get the Wings out of a certain set, and shoot for the high end RCs, which 11-12 is almost wrapped up! still looking for the Brendan Smiths The Cup RC I guess! hopefully I will get out of this funk, sure everyone goes through it at some point, at least glad there's the Box breaks here, that keeps me going, wish we had Dwights Low Budget one going again, gave me more trading power

Set building doesn't have to be expensive, you can build Score, boxes from 11/12 are as cheap as $20ish each, so not too expensive to build for a nice 550 card set.
