Guys, I've created this topic so that all of our members may discuss what they'd like to see done differently with this group going forward. I'd also like to get you guys to confirm whether or not you're going to remain in the group for next month.

I've listed below a few things that come to mind that have been mentioned.

Card Distribution

There is currently a small gray area that it seems some cards seem to fall in to that needs to be cleared up. Here is my suggestion on the way the cards should be handled in the future, in this order:

1) The cards will go to the team printed on the card.
2) The cards will go to the team pictured in the uniform.
3) The cards will go to the team the player currently plays for.
4) The cards will go to the team the player was drafted to.
5) The cards will go to the team the player played for the longest (or is best known for).

Draft Order

This is one of the biggies that I would like to hear several opinions on. It's been suggested that we use a snake draft. I would suggest that we have 2 random orders, for the 1st and 3rd rounds. Then we will snake the 1st round to make the 2nd round, and snake the 3rd round to make the 4th round.

Break Months

At least a few people have stated that they'd like to see this group become a bi-monthly group, or a quarterly group. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this. If we do this, what do you guys think about bumping the fee to $50 a person to allow for a better box selection, adding to the number of possible hits we could pull?

Please let me know what you think about these decisions. These are ones we'll definitely need to come to a decision on before we decide to continue on with future months. We'll be going with the majority on all of them.

Now, here is something I'd like to talk about that hasn't been brought up yet. Right now the rule says that everyone must take 1 team from each sport. What would you guys think about changing this so that anyone can take a team from any sport in any round, as long as all their teams don't all come from the same sport? I think this would make the drafting process a lot more interesting, while at the same time allowing members who may not collect one or more of the sports to not have to end up with cards they do not want.

Also, if you'd like to see something else done differently please mention it in this topic so that we can discuss it before the break starts rolling along again.

i am 100% for the snake draft and conducting randoms for rounds 1 and 3.. then snake 2 and 4!

as far as the teams go.. and we will use starsberg for example.. he shouldve been a national not random.. we treat football that way and we should treat hockey and baseball and basketball the same

I absolutely agree Steve! I made the wrong decision last month, but hope that the new set of rules I've listed above should avoid any future problems. That said, I assume you agree with the determination rules I've posted above?

By the way guys, I'm making a list on paper here at the house with everyone's votes and/or ideas rather than updating the first post as it could get really long and messy doing so.

It has often been said that there is not an issue in the entire history of mankind upon which I do not have an opinion (an accurate statement I might add laugh.gif )

Therefore, here's my opinion:

Card Distribution: I agree with the proposal.

Draft order: I prefer a snake draft. I'd be OK with either one that snakes like a fantasy football draft, or with the one you propose.

Frequency: Has there been a issue with frequency in the past? As someone who has been accused (particularly by She Who Must Be Obeyed) of getting in too many group breaks, I can understand the desire to have a break less frequently than monthly. A semi-monthly or quarterly break would be good with me.

Team selection: I like one team per sport during the draft, with an option to trade afterwards. This is a multi sport break, & should be handled as such. People who like only one or 2 sports should seek out breaks that limit themselves to one sport (this from someone who HATES basketball)

Movie review: Go see Public Enemies! One of the best movies I have seen in years!!

Thanks for your reply Brian (hope it's ok if I use your first name laugh.gif). Also, being a movie lover myself I'm ashamed to say that I haven't seen that movie. However, I can assure you that it's now on my list of things to see.

What about going to a bi-monthly or quarterly break and bumping the price to $50 per spot instead of $25?

Sounds good to me. I'd be happy with bi-monthly @ $50 but will go with the majority.

I'll be in again, and will pay double due to you covering me last month. As for the rules for the group heres what I think

Team LISTED on the card it should go to. If you made it the team they currently play for you may pick a team to get a certain player and then that player gets pulled but let's say is traded 5 days before the break. That would absolutley not be fair.

Break months:

If we up it to $50 even if we do the break every other month then I will have to withdraw from the group. Even though I'd still be paying $50 within two months. I am on a $50 budget every month, so doing the break every month I have $25 left over.

Draft Order:

Snake is the way to go. Only fair way at this point. I would say Random 1 and 3 like Steve said and snake 2 and 4

I would reverse 4 & 5. Elway was drafted by the colts, but I would rather see him going to the Broncos. Just one example I can think of. You may not have this problem if he is pictured as a Bronco, but I'd rather make sure he goes to the team he's most known for than the one who drafted him

Draft Order

I agree we should random 1&3 and then snake 2&4

Break Months

At least a few people have stated that they'd like to see this group become a bi-monthly group, or a quarterly group. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this. If we do this, what do you guys think about bumping the fee to $50 a person to allow for a better box selection, adding to the number of possible hits we could pull?

with the amount of time we have taken drafting I'd rather see this as a bimonthly break. I still think we should keep it at $25 - more affordable for more members.

I think part of the allure of being able to pick from 1 sport is the chance to get cards from a sport you may not buy much of. The trading part should take care of this for people who do not want a team from 1 sport.

I agree with this as well, and I'm sure other members would too. #4 was mainly meant for players in their college uniforms, or some other type of uniform (olympic uniforms).

I would keep it a monthly thing with the same price...

As for the Drafting order, I'm fine with anything cause it's really up to the boxes to deliver.

I think we should keep it as a one team per sport thing....since trading takes care of people wanting the same sport.

BTW...I'm in again!

I'm in. Thanks for the invite.

Cool with the draft order and distribution. Like the Bi-Monthly idea for $50.

As for the one team from each sport rule... If it was lifted it could actually open up the possibility for more trades (trading/trading for two teams in the same sport for a better team in any sport, etc.). Just a thought...

I don't know if I'll be able to stick in this Break as much as I really enjoyed my time in this break I don't think I'll be able to continue.

Good Luck to all those involved (I may be back in a couple of months)

Thanks for everything Micheal,

Michael

Actually, right now you don't have to keep one team from each sport. You only have to draft one team from each sport. If you wanted to trade all 4 of your teams for 1 other team, that would be fine also.
