Waiting List

1. bajmurray
2. Karlitos Way

All members will be offered spots in the order they're added to the waiting list. If you would like to be added to the waiting list either post in the thread or feel free to PM me.

Draft process

1. Draft consists of 4 rounds of 30 picks per round.
2. Random draft order is determined for each round.
3. Any sport can be selected in any round.
4. Each member can only draft one team from each sport.

With this method, we seem to find a good balance between allowing members to focus on their primary sports while still maintaining the desired level of randomness and multi-sport theme.

The draft will take place via a draft board. Each member will have 12 hours to make their selection. After the 12 hours if you still have not made you pick, all of the teams available to you will be entered into random.org and you will be given the team at the top. This randomization will be recorded on Ustream.TV and saved for later viewing. All members may also submit a proxy list to me so that I can make your pick for you.

Determination of draft order

A random draft order will be determined for each round of the draft. That random draft order will be determined through the use of the List Randomizer tool on RANDOM.ORG (http://www.random.org/lists/).

Also, determination of the random draft order will be broadcast LIVE on Ustream.TV. That way, we'll all see what happens when it happens!

Trading of Teams

Drafted teams can be traded between club members up until a specified deadline - before the first box is opened. In addition, members are not required to keep one team from each sport.

Determination of Cards

All cards (base, parallels and inserts) are assigned to teams based on the team and logo pictured on the card. In other words, the jersey being worn by the player and/or the current team for which a player plays are not considered.

Cards that involve players from more than one team (e.g., dual AU or GU cards) will be assigned to one of the eligible club members by a random drawing. A multi-player card that includes a player from an undrafted team or an undrafted player does not open those cards up to every single member. Instead, the random drawing is still just be limited to the members that have the rest of the teams featured on the card.

Each pull from the 2 undrafted NFL teams will be given away using a random selection between all 30 members of the club. All of the hits and inserts will be drawn for 1 at a time, while the base cards will be drawn for as a lot for each team. So, even after all of the boxes are opened, there's still final chances to get some nice cards!

Transactions

Transactions will be created for each spot that is purchased. Those transactions will be posted prior to the first hobby box being opened.

Shipping

All base cards will be placed in one or more team bags, wrapped in bubble wrap, and carefully placed in a bubble mailer. All non-base cards will be placed in individual card sleeves, toploaders and team bags (multiple cards per bag). All cards are then placed in a bubble mailer. Delivery Confirmation will be used on all domestic packages and the appropriate Customs Declaration form will be used for all international packages.

Disclaimer

Here's the key thing to understand about group box breaks:

The nature of group box breaks is that each participant may or may not receive "great pulls" or even any cards at all (wise box selection should avoid this). Therefore, a member is purchasing the opportunity to take part in the group as well as any cards that result from that opportunity.

Here are a few things that have changed for this month:

1) There will now be a 12 hour time limit for selecting your pick. After that, you will be given a random team, decided by random.org, from the teams available to you.

2) You can now submit your proxy lists to me so that I can make your pick for you. This will eliminate the chance of you having to take a random team. Since I'm online quite a bit, I might can make your pick faster than you could have to keep things rolling along.

3) This month rather than sending all the base cards in plastic cases, I'm going to try using team bags and decoys and/or bubble wrap. The number of boxes I went through last month was pretty high as some members got more than 1 box in their packages. I'm just going to try this for this month and see how it goes. If everyone's cards are delivered undamaged, and I'm confident they will be, this is how I'll do it from here on out. Before I decided this I sent PMs to several other premier group box hosts on TCC and this was overwhelmingly the way they claim to ship the cards from their breaks.

4) Do not include the words "group break" anywhere with your PayPal payment, as it could lead to an account suspension. Instead, just leave your TCC username. I'll know what the payment is for.

I think that's it. If your name isn't in bold above, please post here or PM me that you'll be keeping your spot this month.

Attention: We are still accepting members on our waiting list. If you would like to be added to the waiting list, please post in one of our threads, or PM me.

Guys, one thing I forgot to include in the 2nd post is this:

Just a reminder guys. If your name isn't in bold in the initial post, you still need to confirm that you're still in for this month. I'll send PMs to the unconfirmed members tomorrow evening.

Jackstraw has decided to opt out of the group for June. I have sent a PM to the next person on the waiting list, baseballguy601.

Posted by: mjda Jun 5 2009, 07:01 AM

Just a reminder guys that payments are due in 5 days. I will wait until this evening for the 2 guys on the waiting list I'm expecting PMs from. If I don't hear from them by then, I'll move on down the list.

Also, since nobody has said anything about the box selection I assume it looks good to everyone.

Finally, if any of you guys plan on submitting proxy lists for the draft, you can go ahead and do so now. My email address is in the first post in this thread, or you can PM your list to me.

PS-I may not be as active for a few days because one of my hard drives died on me yesterday so I'll refrain from using my home computer as often as normal until I can get it replaced and have my raid rebuilt. sad.gif

Box selection looks good to me. I like the Football representation as it makes more members have a chance at one of the top rookie teams available by having two years. Still the same risk that those teams may or may not have a hit, but at least a nice mix.

phinsfan77 has agreed to take one of the empty spots in the group, and has already paid. Thanks!

I had sent PMs to kooljazz1966 and baseballguy601 that both went unanswered for 48 hours. Because of this I went on to the next ones in line on the waiting list. We're now still needing to fill 1 spot, and a PM has been sent to pwolantern.

That might be better for next month because we'd have to give up 09 Bowman Jumbo in exchange and I'm not sure that'd be a very good trade. wink.gif

Posted by: josh3302 Jun 6 2009, 04:50 PM

You get 3 Autos in Bowman Jumbo, and one of the is a boxtopper auto, which is never good, and only 1 chrome auto. In UD Series 2, you get...

1 20th Aniversary Buyback card from 1989
1 Auto
2 GU's
1 Boxtopper (If you don't get a boxtopper you get a Hot Box which has 15 Hits out of 16 Packs)

There are an overload of hot-boxes produced by UD's mistake. All Hot Boxes have 15 Hits in 16 Packs.

Posted by: mjda Jun 6 2009, 05:10 PM

Well I'm up for whatever. If we get several more people in the group who'd want to make this switch we can surely do it. Let me know what you think guys.

Posted by: dabeastlykid Jun 7 2009, 06:44 AM

Posted by: mjda Jun 7 2009, 05:02 PM

All members who I have received payment from have their status in the initial post updated.

Again, I'd like to ask please do not use the term "group break" along with your PayPal payment. Just include your TCC username and I'll know what the payment is for. PayPal has possibly started banning accounts receiving large numbers of "group break" payments.

Posted by: mjda Jun 8 2009, 12:26 PM

Wow! We're really running through the waiting list this month. It's went from 7 waiting members to just 2. All my PMs have either went unanswered, or the member changed their minds about joining. Nevertheless, we'll get it filled.

Also, I'd like to remind everyone that payments are due Wednesday (2 days). If I don't have you marked as Paid it means I haven't yet received your payment. Let's try to get em in as soon as possible.

Just out of curiosity...what does Paypal have against group box breaks?

I guess they feel it's a form of gambling.

I thought the bigger issue is that there have been some scammers on you-tube claiming they were doing a box break and then taking the payments, then not doing the breaks but by the time everyone is aware the accounts were cleaned out, so paypal had no way to collect, but had to cover the people ripped off?

Posted by: mjda Jun 9 2009, 06:53 AM

Ok guys, we have received about half the payments. We still need to get 14 more in before tomorrow. I'll send PMs to all the unpaid members this afternoon.

Also, I haven't heard from many people about switching the bowman jumbo box to UD series 2 baseball. If nobody else has a problem with it, I'll go ahead and make that switch today as well.

Attention: If you would like to be added to he waiting list, please post here or PM me.

Posted by: mjda Jun 9 2009, 10:49 AM

Since it's not looking like anyone is going to be against switching the Bowman Jumbo for UD Series 2, I went ahead and made the adjustments on the main page. That also freed up another $20 to use on something else. Instead of just buying a lot of small packs, I went ahead and added a pack of 2007 Ultimate football, since that was the sport with the least amount of hits. That box runs about $44, but I'll cover the extra cost again this month just so we get a pack of something that we know we're going to get a hit in rather than several packs that could be all base.

Reminder: Payments are due tomorrow. If I do not have you marked as Paid, please get your payment in as soon as possible.

Thank you mjda, that was indeed very cool of you. I have no problems with the switch either.

Question. For UD Series 2, will the USA Autos or GU's go to the team they end up drafted for today or will it be random?

If there's no team or logo written on the card it will go to a random drawing. The only exception is if it's a rookie card in their college uniform. In that case, the cards go to the team they play for (like last month's Sage).

Posted by: mjda Jun 9 2009, 06:09 PM

PMs were just sent out to all the members who haven't paid yet. Hopefully we'll get them all in tomorrow so we can get the draft started.

Reminder: You can now submit proxy lists to me with your draft order so that I can make your picks for you when you're not around. This should definitely help the draft move along quite a bit faster than last month. I've also begun work on a new feature which will allow you to create your preference lists directly on the draft board. biggrin.gif Hopefully that part of it will be ready for July's break. Until then though, if you have the time, please make me a proxy list to use.

Michael...I will be more than happy to split the additonal spots if necessary...if we have to go that route.

Posted by: mjda Jun 16 2009, 08:23 AM

Guys, I have a bit of bad news. My router at home went out and ATT won't have my new one here for 2-3 days. Whether I have received the final payment or not when my new router comes in, I'll do the draft order video and we'll start the draft. I really wanted to have the video tonight, but I have no control over this problem. I've been trying to locate a backup modem/router, but have had no luck so far. Again, as soon as I can get something working I'll do the draft order video and we'll start the draft. Sorry about this guys, but there's nothing I can do about it.

Bob, I'll send you a PM regarding the unpaid spots.

Posted by: mjda Jun 16 2009, 09:09 AM

Looks like I may have jumped the gun a little on that last message. My cousin just called me and told me she was going to bring me her router in the morning since she's going to have a baby tomorrow. She'll be gone till at least Thursday afternoon, and my replacement should be here by then. With that said, it looks like we'll be able to have the draft order video tomorrow night. I'll give an exact time once I've got the router up in the morning, but most likely it'll be around 7:30pm-8:00pm EST.

It's looking like it so far, but let me make sure I get my cousin's router in the morning to verify. As soon as I get my internet at home back up I'll post a confirmed time. Go ahead and plan for 8pm EST tomorrow, and I'll post again in the morning to confirm that.

I agree, it should go a bit faster this time, especially if each of us keeps a better watch on our spot and if necessary submits a proxy list, based on when we will be around or when our pick is.

Posted by: mjda Jun 17 2009, 07:21 AM

First of all, my cousin did bring her modem (she didn't have a router so my other computers are still down), so the draft order video will be tonight at 8:00pm EST. I hope to see you all there!

Also, this isn't exactly true I'm afraid. Bob hasn't been around nearly as much as I'd liked this month as some of you I'm sure are aware. That said, we didn't get anything new implemented on the script. I guess Bob has just been really busy at work and hasn't had time for much other than just checking in from time to time. I'm sure we can all relate to some of that. Hopefully the draft still won't take forever, especially if everyone will keep a close eye on it, but it is possible that the draft could take as long as it did last month. sad.gif

Next month I'll be taking a week vacation to San Antonio with my family, so I was thinking about possibly skipping the break for July. What do you guys think about that? I'm thinking that would give Bob and I a whole extra month to try and get the necessary changes made to the draft board. That would also give us an extra month to find some members to fill the gaps we gained this month. That would also mean I wouldn't be here for a week during "draft time". Let me know what you guys think. If everyone still wants to do it we can, but my preference would be to take a month off to get some kinks worked out. We now know what they are, and how to fix them. It's just a matter of Bob and I being at the same place at the same time so to speak.

It shouldn't take that long really. I mean, I've already got the programming part worked out. I just need Bob around so that we can implement those. I would think we could get it all sorted in a month. However, I also thought we'd be able to get it done before this month's break too. wink.gif

Posted by: DCool Jun 17 2009, 10:30 AM

I'm ok with taking a 1 month break as well, as I will be actually moving out of my apartment by the end of July and will need some time to sort things out.

OK - MY DRAFT ORDER...
RD 1 - 24th
RD 2 - 23rd
RD 3 - 27th
RD 4 - 3rd WOOHOO

What another great break I'm looking forward to! On top of the draft taking the next 10 days. Sorry to sound so bitter...oh wait..I AM BITTER - Know what, just randomize my picks for me. I'm screwed anyways. I know it's just $25 bucks, but this will be my last month, because after only getting 2 parallel inserts and about $4 in base cards last month, I went out and bought 4 boxes because I was so mad about not getting any hits! Maybe the "MOJO GODS" will shine down upon me with multible hits this month after I badmouth the heck out of them! Yes, I'm ranting and not following the "10 second rule" before typing out my displeasure ( And remember, this is nothing personal) but this is frustrating and annoying and doesn't make me enjoy the hobby very much!
Again, seriously, just randon my picks for me. I don't want to hold up anything and I sure don't want to know how great the hits were that I didn't get!

I agree.

Draft order has as little or as much to do with it as you want to apply. My first round, second round, and third round teams (traded for) failed me miserably last month without a hit. The only team I did not pick since 29th in the 4th round, was the only team that delivered a hit, basketball. It is the nature of the boxes versus what team you pick. You could have all top teams and get squat, because the boxes were all scrubsville hits. That is the nature of a box break. There are 30 people with less than that or slightly more than that in hits, so not everyone is going to get something, especially when a box runs with the same teams hits. Last month I was ok with getting 1 hit, when I looked and saw some got none. I think the most anyone got was 3 hits?, and the average was 1 hit? per member or so.

What made last month more fun for me was trading a team from a sport I did not like for a sport I collect (traded baseball for hockey) and watching the breaks hoping one of us got something really decent. If I don't get something great, I really hope that one of us does, that is kind of the idea behind doing a group break. Hoping someone in the community of your group break does well.

I think what we all need to remember is that this is for fun, and that there are risks.

Posted by: otter8418 Jun 18 2009, 07:37 AM

i agree

Posted by: aceecards Jun 18 2009, 08:09 AM

Although I agree about the fun aspect..

I still feel that in thunders case this month, mine last month and in other similar to us.. the random draft order for each round just can punish a person.

Im all about luck and odds and etc..

But I paid the same amount of money you did for each of the three conducted or being conducted. YOU have recd the first overall pick twice! I get to pick 7th for the first time ever in any round?

The feeling that you AT LEAST have a chance to get a hit of your favorite team, far outweighs the feeling that you got HOSED before it starts.!

In all fairness Brian.. The random draft each round is for the birds.. FUN or not!

Posted by: aceecards Jun 18 2009, 08:12 AM

And Brian dont think Im singling you out for having the Phenomenal luck of getting the First overall pick twice out of three breaks.. Im just trying to put the fact that at least you got a chance to get your favorite team.. if the stars align and so forth..

Thunder9 ...odds are.. will not even sniff his chance for his favorite team.

There is a huge difference between perception and reality as you are well aware!

Posted by: otter8418 Jun 18 2009, 09:41 AM

I think you have good points, acee, but I think that this is for fun. we should put it to a vote to decide between the way it is now and a snake draft. I would probably vote for a snake draft as well.

that being said, Last break I had these picks:
1st round 25
2nd round 24
3rd round 29
4th round 15

this break:
1st round 25
2nd round 3 (wheeee!)
3rd round 26
4th round 22

and I am not up here complaining. that is what we all signed up for. we knew how it would be upon signing up and we all have to live with it. I think that Thunder's post was unsportsmanlike and wildly inappropriate. I was in the same situation and I didn't react that way. There is a proper way to suggest a better draft procedure. being polite is important here because this site is for fun and networking ( I think, anyway).

just my opinion. I welcome your opinions smile.gif

thanks and good luck to everyone,

doug

I tried letting them slip into the second round last time and that didn't work and not only that... the potential they have this month was TOO much to pass up on...
and last but not least the Canadiens have a total of 2/3 hits in the BAP and quite a few in the Artifacts but....not the same potential...

and last but not least the Canadiens have a total of 2/3 hits in the BAP and quite a few in the Artifacts but....not the same potential...

I stated my opinion in the last draft!

I think a more fair structure to all parties is a two round snake

1-30 30-1

then you can random again and do the last two rounds the same snake with a new draft order!

It is fair, equitable and eliminates complaints!

I'd agree for next month (or whenever we start back up after this one). I like the snake draft as well. Any chance of making it a "keeper" group where you can retain one team from month to month making it just a 3 round draft?

Next month we won't have a break. However, I'm instead going to still start a new thread at the beginning of the month so we can discuss/vote on things we'd like to see different. I'm not completely opposed to anything, as long as the group remains successful. I do like the idea of having at least 1 "keeper" team also if everyone else likes the idea. However, I would suggest we still keep it that each member can only end up with 1 team from each sport. Meaning if you were to have a football team as your "keeper" team, you wouldn't be able to draft another football team. Again, we'll talk about it all next month. If anyone else has any other ideas, please let me know about those too. I'll be glad to talk about anything to make the group better, and more enjoyable, for everyone involved.

i know without a snake draft I'm out---first 3 rounds in the mid 20's just ain't right

Posted by: sahetu Jun 18 2009, 08:19 PM

How is it not "right"?! It's RANDOM. Is going to the store and getting three lottery tickets and losing not "right?" Going to the card shop and buying 4 packs and not getting a hit - that's not "right?" We all had the same odds.

QUOTE(aceecards @ Jun 18 2009, 08:12 AM)
And Brian dont think Im singling you out for having the Phenomenal luck of getting the First overall pick twice out of three breaks.. Im just trying to put the fact that at least you got a chance to get your favorite team.. if the stars align and so forth..

Thunder9 ...odds are.. will not even sniff his chance for his favorite team.

There is a huge difference between perception and reality as you are well aware!
*

Steve I know you are not singling me out, but the reality is what did that 1st pick from over a year ago net me? A holofx of Patrick Kane that books $15, an ok hit, but the au and gu hits went to guys who picked hockey teams after me so again your slot does not matter, what matters is getting the "lucky" feeling for picking the right team in whatever position you have. Again my last pick #119 was the only pick for me last month that brought me a au/gu. 118 people passed on that team, but I got a hit.

So if you do a snake I don't get to pick until 60 how is that any fairer than random? I get one team I want then have to watch 58 people take all the other teams I have an interest in? If there were 15 people I might say snake is fairer, because at least then a whole sport could not be wiped out but for someone to wait 58 picks to their next seems unfair in my opinion as nearly two sports could be wiped out. Same with the guy who gets lucky enough to get #2 or #3 or #4 they have to wait 57 or 56 or 55 picks? And the people picking later in round 1 are not gaining any benefit from an early pick in round 2 considering 20 some people went ahead of them, so the top teams in each sport are gone anyway. I really think the method we are using is the fairest.

I agree Thunder9 will not get his team and I am sorry his random picks went that way, but it is a risk each of us took when we paid our $25. And so the stars aligned for me this month, will they next month who knows (I hope not if it is changed to a snake draft as I don't want to pick 1 and 60 laugh.gif ), probably not, if they do I am definitely going to buy some lottery tickets. laugh.gif

One thing I will note though is I think if we do random, that maybe a fresh original list should be used for each randomization round, so we are starting from square 1. I know it is randomizing but sometimes I think things get stuck in positions in the randomizing process even when doing them multiple times.

Yep, your right....hmmmm.....better get mjda on it.....biggrin.gif

Posted by: mjda Jun 20 2009, 03:39 PM

I wonder if something happened to the DB so that it picked up in a previous state, or maybe there was an error writing to the database. The board also shows the 49ers as still available, so something either didn't get written, or was overwritten.

To keep things moving along this month I'm sending pavi39 a PM to just post his pick here. We'll finish this month's draft up in the thread. This will also help move a bit faster because I do have some proxy lists for some people and with a post style draft I'll be able to use it.

EDIT: I've also disabled the draft board for the remainder of the month so it doesn't get confusing as how to make your selection.

I'd really like to think that nobody would be dishonest here. However, as Brian said, Bob is able to see whether or not a post has been edited. I've also set my phone up to ring me when new posts are made so I can get to a computer to update the initial thread as soon as possible.

IMPORTANT: Remember that each member can still only select 1 team from each sport. In the event that someone selects a 2nd team from any sport, any progress made after that selection will be wiped out and that person will have to select again. Posted by: mjda Jun 21 2009, 09:11 AM

dabeastlykid submitted a proxy list, but the only team he specified is already taken. For everything else he simply put "random". I really would rather not give anyone a random team unless they fail to make the time limit, so I'm going to give dabeastlykid his full 12 hours. He said he would be back today anyways in the PM, so hopefully it won't be all day. I would just feel bad if the randomizer gave him the team he actually wanted least.

Guys, we're going to Oklahoma to eat today for father's day. In the event that dabeastlykid and Josh both make their picks before I get back, I'm selecting the San Antonio Spurs. I think I'm safe in saying that neither of those guys will take them. If dabeastlykid still hasn't made his pick by the time I get back (several hours from now), I will just randomize him one as requested via PM.

Posted by: mjda Jun 21 2009, 05:00 PM

Before dabeastlykid left he PMed me a proxy list of teams to select on his behalf in case he wasn't here. The first team on his list was the New York Jets. Since they were already taken, I moved on to his second pick, which was a random football team. I used random.org to determine his pick, and with his first pick in the draft dabeastlykid selects the Philadelphia Eagles.

Posted by: mjda Jun 23 2009, 10:32 PM

Ok guys, I need your input on something. I've now had 2 members PM me regarding this, so let's see what everyone else thinks.

What do you guys think we should do with a card that is pulled that doesn't list a team or logo, and has the player wearing an olympic uniform?

The first option, which is the one I was going to go with since there wasn't a rule in place prior to the month, is that we just randomize the card to everyone in the group.

The other option, which is what's been suggested both times via PM, would be to give the card to the team the player currently plays for like we do with cards featuring players in their college uniform.

My choice would be to give the card to the team the player currently plays for, but we really didn't have anything in place for it prior to the month's start which is why I would've just randomized it. However, if the group would like to change that now, I'm all for it. Just keep in mind that changing it now might be a slight bit unfair to members who have already made their selections who might have made different selections had this rule been set.

Posted by: Pete Jun 23 2009, 10:39 PM

I'd agree with the team the player currently plays for.

Posted by: mjda Jun 23 2009, 10:40 PM

Thanks for the input Pete. It's likely this is what the group will decide on. I just didn't want to make the decision by myself to set that rule in the middle of the month.

I am OK with giving it to the team he currently plays for since that may be why some members drafted certain team. However, I do believe that Prestige has undrafted free agents in it so you might have to random those off.

Yeah, that's what we'll do. We'll treat those cards just like we did with Sage last month (hopefully there won't be that many though laugh.gif). I'm just talking about the cards with olympic uniforms. Although there isn't much difference between the 2, I wanted to get input from the group before the break was finished and I just gave those cards out that way.

Posted by: josh3302 Jun 24 2009, 05:34 AM

I do not think it is fair to change it. If it had been done before the drafting I would have been fine with it, but I would want a different Baseball team if it were changed and I can't get one

I believe this is exactly what we'll do. Since Josh clearly made his first pick based on this decision it would be unfair to change it now, especially since it was already clear before the draft. Also, looking back, I don't see that anyone disagreed with the decision when it was discussed before either.

Posted by: Oilers4ever Jun 24 2009, 11:14 AM

I've got an early pick in round 3. I'll glad pick the hockey or basketball team of your choice in exchange for a football team!

Posted by: Herdfan13 Jun 24 2009, 05:31 PM

Since the Capitals are already picked, I am willing to trade my Hockey for a football team. Make an offer and I will make the pick for you. PM me.

Posted by: mjda Jun 24 2009, 07:15 PM

It doesn't look like Bob will be on to make his pick by the 12 hour limit again. sad.gif

Posted by: mjda Jun 24 2009, 10:49 PM

Ok guys, since it doesn't look like Bob is going to make his next pick, I went ahead and held a random drawing for his next selection. I really hated to have to do this, but I really had to. Sorry Bob. sad.gif

Michael,

I think the best thing to do right now is to leave the olympic cards for random since that was determined before the draft. But no one says you have to keep it that way for next month. I think they should go to the team they were drafted by, so if you want to make that the official policy then just make the change on the front page for next month's break.

Posted by: Axe725 Jun 25 2009, 06:46 AM

I will take the Washington Redskins

Posted by: aceecards Jun 25 2009, 06:54 AM

thanks for making my pick!

Again I agree that you dont change horses in the middle of the road and am thankful i didnt pick the nationals with my round 1 as planned ..

But I fail to see any difference or any need for discussion.

If a player was pictured in an amateur uniform and has been drafted why should there be any difference in how we treat it!

I agree with this. This probably should be the policy going forward to minimize randoms. We just need to be clear that this is only for recent draftees, and that someone like Elway (a multi year pro player) in a college uniform would go to the Broncos (team the player is most associated with), not his draft team of Baltimore. This might occur if we open Topps Magic in a future month.

Posted by: mjda Jun 25 2009, 04:14 PM

The reason I went with randomizing the cards off was simply because the main rules (the rules the group had originally) stated that cards would be determined by the team name and/or logo printed on the card. Since the olympic cards don't have a team name and/or logo printed on them, they couldn't be decided this way, and would have to be randomized. I just decided for last month to do the Sage based on their drafted team, because otherwise we would have had to randomize every card pulled from that box.

I see now that I got it wrong on the olympic cards, and I apologize. If I'm being honest, however, I didn't know that all olympic cards were "pre-draft" cards. I was almost certain that pro players played in the olympics as well. Again, I'm sorry I got it wrong.

Going forward in future months, I'd like to talk about possibly changing it so that cards go to the teams in this order:

1) Team name and/or logo printed on the card.
2) Uniform the player is wearing.
3) Team the player currently plays for.
4) Team the player played for the longest.
5) Team the player last played for.

This should get most cards going to a specific team, and those that it doesn't catch (players that go undrafted) will then be randomized.

Again, I'll be creating a thread for next month just so we can discuss any changes that anyone would like to see made.

I think more people should start getting proxy lists in so we can get this thing moving (makes a not - get a proxy list to mjda). I bet we could get through this thing this weekend if we started getting these in.

You're probably right! Look at the time we've saved with several of the picks already in the draft by people making lists, or at least stating which team they want next. My inbox is open folks, and I should be here all weekend!

Posted by: mjda Jun 27 2009, 07:33 AM

Since THUNDER9 hasn't made his pick within the 12 hour time limit, I have done a random drawing on available teams for his 2nd round selection.

THUNDER9 selects the Dallas Stars

http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/1719041

Posted by: mjda Jun 27 2009, 07:43 AM

dabeastlykid has submitted a proxy list and also told me that he won't be around on weekends from Fridays to Sundays. That said, I went ahead and did his random drawing now since he won't be back until tomorrow anyways. He stated that he wanted a random basketball team 2nd, so I only included the available basketball teams in his drawing.

dabeastlykid selects the Memphis Grizzlies

PM going out to sgmco.

Posted by: mjda Jun 27 2009, 07:45 AM

Guys, I would like to encourage you all to submit to me a proxy list for the final 2 rounds. This will help to avoid some of these random drawings, and also make the draft finish a lot faster than it would otherwise.

Baltimore Orioles

Maybe we can make up some ground today.

Posted by: mikeadd10 Jun 27 2009, 04:49 PM

Looks like we hit another roadblock :S

I would have left my proxy lift (since I won't be back for a few hours...got myself a soccer tournament)
Hopefully it will have moved a little bit before I get back.

laugh.gif Yeah but the people behind him have proxy lists so we could move ahead a few slots if maple19 makes a pick.

Posted by: mjda Jun 27 2009, 10:52 PM

Wow! I can't believe we didn't move at all while I was away. sad.gif That said, maple19 should post his pick anytime now. I believe this is about the time he gets online. I'm going to give him till morning before I do a random drawing because I just got back home and am ready for bed. smile.gif

Posted by: mjda Jun 28 2009, 09:48 AM

Since maple19 has failed to make his pick within the 12 hour time limit, I have used random.org to select his 2nd round team.

maple19 selects the Florida Panthers

http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/1724809

I have a proxy list for these next picks.

pavi39 selects the Los Angeles Angels

crpalmi selects the Portland Trail Blazers

Herdfan13 selects the Houston Rockets

PM going out to yodude91.

I would again like to suggest that everyone go ahead and create a proxy list for the last 2 rounds, even if you're active on the site. Every minute we can make up with these picks via proxy list helps because, as you saw here, it could possibly lead to multiple picks in a row that would otherwise not have been made so quickly.

Posted by: yodude91 Jun 28 2009, 09:52 AM

I'll take NFL Tennessee Titans

Posted by: yodude91 Jun 28 2009, 09:55 AM

PM sent to phinsfan77.

Posted by: mjda Jun 28 2009, 09:56 AM

Posted by: joey244 Jun 28 2009, 04:48 PM

I'll take the Detroit Tigers

PM going to maple19

Posted by: mjda Jun 28 2009, 06:08 PM

If anyone would like their cards sent to a different address this month than last, please PM me the new address.

Also, for those of you who don't want your base cards again, please tell me that again as well. I'm not going to assume just because you didn't want them last month that you still don't this month.

Proxy lists, proxy lists, and proxy lists! smile.gif

Posted by: mjda Jun 28 2009, 09:58 PM

Looks like another early morning randomizer coming up. sad.gif Guys, I want to remind you all to try to get me a proxy list for your upcoming picks. I'd really like to get this draft finished up this week, and break this weekend.

Which reminds me, I was going to ask you guys this before. Would you guys rather do the 3 night break like last month, or join 2 more sports making a 2 night break, or combine it all for a 1 night monster? I'm up for anything, so let's hear some of your thoughts on it. I'm just not sure if having 3 different nights really benefits us because it seemed to be mostly the same guys every night last month anyways.

Posted by: DCool Jun 28 2009, 10:00 PM

If we can do the break on a weekday, I am down for a one night break, if it is on a weekend odds are I won't be able to attend, so in that case I would probably prefer a 2 or 3 night deal.

Posted by: mjda Jun 28 2009, 10:21 PM

Ok guys, time for bed. Hopefully maple19 will make his post soon. If not, I'll do his randomizer in the morning before heading to work.

By the way, proxy lists, proxy lists, proxy lists! wink.gif

Posted by: northicehero99 Jun 29 2009, 06:37 AM

I would say 2 night break max. 1 night is probably too long of an ordeal, although the hockey should go fast considering you only have 18 packs. Not remembering if you read base, but if you do it in one night I would say only read inserts, paralllels, and gu/autos.

what he said.

Posted by: mjda Jun 29 2009, 07:23 AM

maple19 has failed to meet the 12 hour time limit again, so I have randomized him another team for the 3rd round.

maple19 selects the New Jersey Nets

http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/1729674

I'm not sure what happened with my camera, but the audio wasn't recorded. It's easy to follow though. Just like the other videos I put all the available teams in the list and hit random 3 times. I hope my camera isn't broken. sad.gif

I have a proxy list for these next picks.

Oilers4ever selects the Detroit Pistons

dabeastlykid's proxy list had a random baseball team next, so that's what I did.

dabeastlykid selects the Cleveland Indians

http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/1729686

Again, I'm not sure what's up with the audio.

PM going out to northicehero99.

Posted by: mjda Jun 29 2009, 07:39 AM

After looking this morning I realized that my audio drivers failed to load, which is why there is no audio on the last 2 videos. My speakers aren't working either. sad.gif Must have had something to do with the electricity going out due to storms last night. I'm going to work, and I'll try to resolve the problem when I get home. If I can't, however, I do have another computer (which is way faster/better than this one), that I'm not using for anything. I'll just have to use that if I can't get this one working. Either way, we'll have working audio before the break.

Posted by: northicehero99 Jun 29 2009, 11:30 AM

Northicehero99 selects the Minnesota Twins.

Posted by: mjda Jun 29 2009, 02:04 PM

aceecards selects the New Orleans Hornets

Axe725 selects the New York Knicks

PM going out to bob_TCC.

Go Bob go! Go Bob go! I'm really hoping NOT to have to do another random. sad.gif
