I was just curious....I know that many of us in this forum have their personal trade page. Building and maintaining a site is a serious time commitment but I was curious about something. How much time do you spend working on your personal page and is it a daily, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly routine. I personally, have fallen WAY behind on updating my page....that's something I intend to rectify this weekend during my days off. There's so much to do there that I don't even know where to starts. Part two of the question...do you try to list EVERY GU/AUTO/serial #'d insert/nonserial numbered insert/ and rookie in your collection....or do you just hit the highlights of your trade list and keep the others in reserve until someone starts looking for something specific. Part three....how many of you have considered listing every single card in your collection including commons. I don't think Acecards qualifys for this....2 million plus cards would be a bit much !!!!

I would probably spend a good part of the day on the initial setup, rearranging pictures, alignments, backgrounds, text and so forth. Once I have the exact look and 'feel' I want, I finalize the page. After that, I allot a maximum of only two hours once a week in the morning (from 8AM to 10AM on a day off, usually Saturday) to scan/refine/post new items on my page. Doing it this way lets me ease into the morning with something I love to do and sets free the rest of the day. After that, it feels as if I accomplished at least one thing before my day has started.
Since I do not buy bulk, it takes less time. If I did buy bulk I would only post those that went into my personal collection and scan the rest for trade requests.
It was much easier for me to restart my collection from scratch than to continue with what I already had acquired more than 5 years ago - hence, my current scant and spartan collection.

I don't really list my personal collection online. Since I keep my cards in a database it would be a pretty quick thing to create tho...I do have an overview of what I have in sets, and general player card counts.
The tradepage gets regular attention, although with my very small tradelist these days that takes little work.
Regularly, maybe a half-hour a week, these days, maybe 5 minutes a week. Of course that's just the hockey page, all the other web pages get time on an as needed/as I feel like it basis. Some weeks thats no time, other weeks an hour a day until update is done. I try to keep my web pages for fun, other wise it crosses that work/play line.

QUOTE(KHarmon @ Oct 7 2005, 04:11 AM) Part three....how many of you have considered listing every single card in your collection including commons. I don't think Acecards qualifys for this....2 million plus cards would be a bit much !!!! I'm hoping that we'll be tracking somewhere on the order of 600,000 cards in the next year. More than most, not as much as some And, as you know, I'm also hoping to share these with the rest of the world, too, via a webpage. I know you were interested in a catalogging software program. It might suit you for keeping your webpage current, too. I hope that after setting up the initial webpages, I nix updating webpages. Instead I update reports from the software itself, then a mass data dump to a web server a few times a month. Anyway, good luck.
