I was just curious....I know that many of us in this forum have their personal trade page. Building and maintaining a site is a serious time commitment but I was curious about something. How much time do you spend working on your personal page and is it a daily, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly routine.

I personally, have fallen WAY behind on updating my page....that's something I intend to rectify this weekend during my days off. There's so much to do there that I don't even know where to starts.

Part two of the question...do you try to list EVERY GU/AUTO/serial #'d insert/nonserial numbered insert/ and rookie in your collection....or do you just hit the highlights of your trade list and keep the others in reserve until someone starts looking for something specific.

Part three....how many of you have considered listing every single card in your collection including commons. I don't think Acecards qualifys for this....2 million plus cards would be a bit much biggrin.gif !!!!

I would probably spend a good part of the day on the initial setup, rearranging pictures, alignments, backgrounds, text and so forth. Once I have the exact look and 'feel' I want, I finalize the page. After that, I allot a maximum of only two hours once a week in the morning (from 8AM to 10AM on a day off, usually Saturday) to scan/refine/post new items on my page. Doing it this way lets me ease into the morning with something I love to do and sets free the rest of the day. After that, it feels as if I accomplished at least one thing before my day has started. cool.gif

Since I do not buy bulk, it takes less time. If I did buy bulk I would only post those that went into my personal collection and scan the rest for trade requests.

It was much easier for me to restart my collection from scratch than to continue with what I already had acquired more than 5 years ago - hence, my current scant and spartan collection. smile.gif

While my collection isn't nearly as extensive as yours, I'm going through the same thing right now. I have an issue with where to store my personal collection and where to store my cards for trade. Storage and my web page are my two main priorities this weekend.

Preparing to make some trades and making room for my new stuff that I have coming in. I have three EBAY lots between 8 and 35 cards each coming in, plus another collection of a couple hundred cards coming in plus sorting thorugh and figuring out what needs to be added or ommitted from my web site. I was tinkering with a design change for my web page but it's simply more time and effort than I have right now. I was finally able to close out two cases at work by getting warrants issued, cleared one because the complainant decided not to follow through with charges...but I picked up five new cases this week, one of which has me in such a state of disgust that I don't think it's worth posting here. Just sufice it to say...if I took the suspect out and left him burried off the cap rock for the coyotes to find nobody would be very disappointed.

Well I update my site when needed. Mail days, pack pulls or whatnots. I have slacked off recently but now that I am not busy all day long help run a site I have more time to do the small things.
IN process of doing a new webpage right now.

I have bought a few cheap toolboxes (plastic) to put my trade cards into. Keeps my 3 little boys from playing with them.

Anything that I am personally interested in keeping goes on a shelf.....a VERY VERY high shelf out of the reach of my three kids. I buy a pack of Harry Potter or Spider Man cards at the Dollar Store every now and then to keep my son occupied while I'm dealing with my cards.

My youngest can still be occupied with the UD Rewards inserts. Those days are probably getting very limited though.

Except my 3 boys have watched spiderman way too many times. They stack things on top of things to get to what they want. Believe I've tried everything if they want it they will find a way to get it.

I don't really list my personal collection online. Since I keep my cards in a database it would be a pretty quick thing to create tho...I do have an overview of what I have in sets, and general player card counts.

The tradepage gets regular attention, although with my very small tradelist these days that takes little work.

Regularly, maybe a half-hour a week, these days, maybe 5 minutes a week.
Of course that's just the hockey page, all the other web pages get time on an as needed/as I feel like it basis. Some weeks thats no time, other weeks an hour a day until update is done. I try to keep my web pages for fun, other wise it crosses that work/play line.

I'm hoping that we'll be tracking somewhere on the order of 600,000 cards in the next year. More than most, not as much as some smile.gif And, as you know, I'm also hoping to share these with the rest of the world, too, via a webpage.

I know you were interested in a catalogging software program. It might suit you for keeping your webpage current, too. I hope that after setting up the initial webpages, I nix updating webpages. Instead I update reports from the software itself, then a mass data dump to a web server a few times a month.

Anyway, good luck.
