There should be some rule that if your trading a value over like 30 or over that you should use devlivery conformation. It might cut down on the failed transactions of people because of not sending with delivery conformation and can;t show they sent an item. I know some people don;t like to use it but it sure helps when something goes wrong if the postoffice loses the package and its not due to the trader not sending. I don't know It maybe woulden;t help but I think it would. I have run into a few people that don;t seem to want to do dc even on high value trades and to me thats just asking for trouble. I use dc on almost every trade I do.

While I doubt a "rule" would be put in place, it is a good idea to confirm with your trading partner before posting up a trade or sale that each party will use DC... Especially for a more high-end trade. It's common sense and something that should be discussed between traders!

I have lost the opertunity for alot of trades due to the fact that the other trader didn't think useing dc on a higher end trade nessasary and i would not do the trade with out it. Alot of times thought people will say they do agree to the dc but end up still sending with out it just so they get the trade.

So would the cards you lost if something went wrong have bothered you less? wink.gif If they don't agree to it and you feel it is necessary, then it's time to move on anyway.
As Tom said doubt it will ever be a "rule", same as Bob will never put a MSF rule for new people, so my guess be the same with this. I collect Hockey and many trades are with Canadian folks. So you think a rule of having to pay $10-$20 for those transactions to go UPS so there is a tracking number if it is over X $'s would be fair?
If you choose to do so, let the other person know and if they agree make sure to document that in the transaction. That way it is there if problems come up.

Dwight

Edit: By the way I use DC if real high end, or on any trade with someone I haven't dealt with before, other than that only if my gut says to (but then if my gut talking to me then I'm probably not trading with them anyway).

I use DC on 98% of my trades/sales....just makes sense. Even on low end trades. Of course our out of the states friends makes this difficult.

I do not think a rule would be implemented as that is too restrictive and DC is not foolproof as proven by ebay/paypal. Recently there have been scams on ebay where you win an auction and the guy sends and empty envelope with DC. Ebay/paypal was siding with those sellers as they had DC #s showing the item as delivered, but the package was empty. Not sure if this is still occuring, but this is one way that dc was proven ineffective.

In addition, for some members if they lose the $30 it is not a big deal and they can find replacements, so they would rather not use DC, in those cases it usually is not failed, but completed with replacements.

For others it is something that should be thought about before sending a large $ amount in cards to another member. For $0.75 or less if using paypal it is well worth the convenience, but again it does not guarantee the package will not be lost. However, they will be able to tell you where it was last based on the tracking and might be able to find the package.

My personal rule is to use it for trades over $20-30 depending on who I am sending to or if I can replace the cards, and sometimes on new member trades.

I think, like many proposed "rules" it should be something left up to the individual traders.

I hate to admit that I didn't even know what a DC was when I started trading. I was having trouble with my post office and someone suggested that I use a DC.........and now I send EVERYTHING that way.

I've never had trouble sending a package without DC.

In fact, I've only had one package lost in the mail, and it was because I screwed up the zip code on the actual package.

i don't think it should be a forced thing. but up to the traders. but still dc still doesn't mean it got there it means it was delivered to a place in that zip code. and it will win paypal disputes but most times i will not win on tcc.

Delivery conformation doesn't gaurantee a package being delivered. It's a tool to track a package thru the postal service system.

I would say you should send Comformation with every package, I do for the most part... That extra 75 cents is well worth it, As a matter of fact I just went through this with a trader on another site.. He sent first and I waited and waited.. Come to find out it was apparently delivered to me on May 21st... Although I did not receive the package, this is the first time this has ever happened to me, but he had the comformation saying it was delivered, So What could I do but send him his end and take the loss.

My P.O was not helpful at all in this matter, which leads me to recall a artical I read in Beckett about the mail carriers stealing packages.

^Agree. If you are going to send something that has a high value, why not go ahead and send over night? If it's that important and you want each to recieve it legitamitly, send over night. smile.gif
