Hockey is here, the Wings play Boston in there game opener, can't wait for the puck to drop, fresh new Wings player's, let's see how the new kids do now that I spent so much time getting there Rookies, Mrazek and Ouellett are gone to the minors, Jurco and Reiley has spots on the team.

Since I don't have a team per se, I will be following closely to try and keep tabs on whats happening with hockey so I wont be as uneducated about them during my breaks

Pens got off to a good start and beat the Ducks. No real rookies per say, sent them all back to lower level teams.

Ya they played fairly well considering they played the night before and had to travel right after the game. I'm pleased with how the ###### look so far. Once we get Krecji back the offense should be even better.

Yes, they got to the Joe late, plus playing the Ducks the night before, Surprised the Wings won the game as the Wings were sloppy and going to fast with the puck, big night for the rookies I guess, first NHL game for Nestrasil, and first game opener's for Nyquist, Sheahan, Jurco,
Lashoff, its was fun to watch.

Guess he still didnt make up his mind Mike, not sure what he is doing or the plan of the Red Wings, he was the point leader for the Wings last season, but maybe its time to move on...maybe a trade is in the making, still puzzled why he left the Sens as I thought he would leave the NHL as a Sen, stupid when players do that, the next thing you know they get traded to 2-3 teams then retire cause no one wants them, one player does not win Stanley Cups.

NEW YORK – Los Angeles Kings forward Jordan Nolan has been suspended for two games, without pay, for boarding Detroit Red Wings forward Darren Helm during NHL Game No. 149 in Detroit on Friday, October 31, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.
The incident occurred at 3:53 of the third period. Nolan was assessed a minor penalty for boarding.
Nolan is considered a repeat offender under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, will forfeit $17,073.18. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

I would take the shot. I have always held to the fact though that a goalie is only as good as the defense that plays in front of them and part of Marty's stats were boosted by playing in the trap defense of the NJ Devils.

Is it me but I didn't like the voting for the All Star game, it should be at least one player from each team with at least most point's or percentage that gets to play at season's half time. Look at how many Black Hawks are playing, it's stupid when there's so many other players that are just as good. Just my thoughts as I turned off the Skills last night, just a bummer not seeing any Wings out on the ice.

Well it is supposed to be about who the fans vote in, however they should find a way to make sure fans only can vote once. This happens every year as the ballot boxes get stuff by fans of certain cities. The Pens fans were guilty of it a few years ago. If the player deserves to be there then they deserve to be there.

Pens knocked that Wilson into their bench and Comeau and him were scuffling, then Latta and Downie were there as well. It was sort of dumb as all they did was give them 2 minute roughing minors. Weird game, that is the most penalties I have seen all year in a game. Pens and Caps both had 6 or so power plays and both had runs of 3 in a row. Bottom line is the Pens finally beat the Caps this season. Ovi was none to happy he smashed his stick on the bench at the end of the game.
Officiating was kind of weird, stuff that looked like it should be called wasn't and stuff that was called was ticky-tacky to some degree. Some were good calls others were stuff they have been letting go recently.

I think the Wings made the right move picking up Erik Cole and Marek Zidlicky, they make nice rentals for the Wings run in the Playoffs with much needed grit and size, now its gonna be who plays with who and who gets bumped from the blue line, guess I'll see when we play the rangers on the 4th on March.

Yandle's game has a different feel than what I'm used to seeing with the Rangers. He doesn't hold the puck long and makes quick decisions with clean passes.
