Collector Zone _ Show and Tell _ Sit or sell???

Posted by: rareluck Sep 3 2008, 03:19 PM

I picked up these beauties a few years ago and have been sitting on them ever since. The question is, should I hold them longer to see if he pans out, or dump them now before he stinks up the joint???

Personally I like the kid. He had a nice college career, and I think he is a great sleeper.

Both of these cards are VERY mint too!!!

From a Bears fan.. I would say sell them now while you can.

He just doesnt have the arm strength to be a threat downfield or for the out patterns of 15+ yards.

I would guess that Rex will be back under center before the midway point of the season.

From a collector's standpoint, those are beautiful cards to keep.

Maybe your right,

I don't have much in them so it wouldn't be too tragic if he didn't pan out.

Hmmm......

Sell one keep one! Either way you win!

I agree with Indy, those are two amazing cards. You should hold to them.

I agree with Dillywill...

Posted by: joe31 Sep 3 2008, 05:04 PM

yea i say sell one, keep one

Posted by: Hallsgator Sep 3 2008, 05:14 PM

Depends, have you been following the market on these cards? Are they at a higher selling point then they have been in awhile? More importantly, will you make money on them? If you buy things to flip them later, you really have to follow the card's market.

He should keep the larger patch and sell the smaller one.

Posted by: marcus42 Sep 3 2008, 11:26 PM

05 was a great looking set...and the gold versions are awesome with the bigger patch windows!

if you don't have much interest in them I'd sell now in case he plays horrible...but I'm kinda on the bandwagon of him being a sleeper too...I think he has what it takes!

Posted by: 10alex10 Sep 3 2008, 11:29 PM

that #/25 one is sick smile.gif
i would definatly say hang on to that..
possibly sell the regular version.

I dont even know are they selling
well right now?

Posted by: mavisbike Sep 3 2008, 11:56 PM

I would think sell the /25 One

Keep the other one.

If he does not pan out then at-least you probably made more on the /25 then you paid for both of them.

If he becomes pretty good then you have a Rookie Auto Patch anyway!!

Posted by: rareluck Oct 8 2008, 12:26 PM

I still have these two cards. Should I sell them now, or wait a little more???

Posted by: Kiansdad Oct 8 2008, 12:45 PM

If you still have them now, you should probably hold on for a few more weeks.

The Bears schedule isnt that bad over the next month (Atl, Min, BYE, Det), so he could put up some good numbers and heat them up a little more.

But then the schedule starts gettting a little tougher and the weather will get a little worse for the passing game in Chicago and his stats should cool off.

I have to say, Im still not sold on him (its not like I am sold on Grossman either.. lol), but he has done better then I expected so far this season. Still think he lacks the arm strength to be a threat in the long passing game, but with teams putting 8 and 9 in the box to try to stop Forte, he doesnt have to go too deep to throw a completion that could go for a lot of yards (like Olsens 52 yarder last week wink.gif )

I hear ya. And the other cool thing is that I have some other real nice RCS of his too. Maybe I will start to dump those now, Or maybe I should make a big lot including the SP patch RCs... hmmm.......What to do......

Posted by: ffman Oct 8 2008, 09:42 PM

Those cards are looking pretty nice right now!

Posted by: Iplayfootball_90 Oct 8 2008, 10:01 PM

I'd keep at least one just because of how clean and nice looking the card is.

Posted by: Solid133 Oct 9 2008, 03:46 PM

I'd go with most people and day sell, though I'd only sell one while his value is high because from here he can either reach that elite plateau or go back down to what he's been the past 3 yrs, but great looking cards

Posted by: rareluck Oct 22 2008, 05:27 PM

Hey does anybody have a recent Beckett book value on these please???

Thanks in advance.

Posted by: imacrackr Oct 22 2008, 05:44 PM

dump if you need money but with Rex backing him up he'll be the starter for awhile and with todays market cards dont sell nearly for what they are worth

I hear ya about a soft market. I don't think dispoable income items like cards will get their real value for a few years now. It is definitely a buyers market. That's one of the main reasons I am sitting on the Ortons still.

Posted by: rareluck Oct 12 2009, 08:47 PM

I still have these, Would you consider selling them now while the Broncos are still undefeated??? Or hang on to them???

Posted by: Hallsgator Oct 12 2009, 09:43 PM

Will you make a profit? Do you think there is still room for them to grow? Are you happy with the profit you can make if there is one to be made?

Those are the questions you have to ask yourself.

Posted by: edgerrin32 Oct 12 2009, 09:57 PM

right now they are hott, i would hold them for a little while, and see what happens!

Posted by: obe459 Oct 12 2009, 11:07 PM

Hold on to the Gold version because they(Broncos) are on a roll and then sell the regular version. Your best possible scenario.

Personally, I would keep them. If the Broncos make it to the playoffs, then consider selling. They are still beautiful cards to own.

Posted by: Gadsden86 Oct 13 2009, 08:34 AM

if you need the money sell if you dont keep them.

Posted by: aceecards Oct 13 2009, 08:36 AM

he maybe at peak value now.. if broncos go on losing streak.. welll..

What do you mean "if"???? Everything in the universe tends to even out. smile.gif

Posted by: cardcrazed Oct 13 2009, 09:05 AM

I'd say hold on to them because he is in a much better situation with the Broncos! Plus they are just really nice looking cards!

Justin

Posted by: Pejarox7620 Oct 13 2009, 06:27 PM

Wow surprised you held on to these until this day (Great that you did though!). But im thinking its close to its peak value...But if they do make it into the playoffs they may go even higher. The thing is they might lose this week (Playing @San Diego, with Chargers having a by week) and everyone might jump off the bandwagon. Its really up to you though. If you think they will continue to be as good as they have been, hold on to them for a little bit longer, but if you dont think they can keep this up then sell sell sell! I actually dont think they cant keep up with this pace (but then again i didn't think they would beat NE..)

Posted by: über Oct 13 2009, 07:15 PM

Sell one (I'd say regular version).

They have a tough schedule coming up, so not sure if he can keep his hot streak alive. An auction ending on Monday Night would be ideal, in case he has a big game.

Posted by: hodee5 Oct 14 2009, 01:00 AM

Sprint to your computer and sell them both........now!!!!

Posted by: tyrodsports Oct 16 2009, 07:54 AM

I say sell them.....tooooooo me. Orton is awesome. The Bears let a good QB go!

Posted by: NYStateOfMind1976 Oct 16 2009, 08:06 AM

Sell the Regular now keep the Gold.. Sick cards.. if you held them for this long I say split the difference.

Posted by: 19th Century Indiana Jones Oct 16 2009, 10:00 PM

Look, if you can't make up your mind, then just let me hold them until you do! Sheesh!

Posted by: jaderock Oct 17 2009, 05:15 PM

Sell both before the old Orton creeps back in! A career 75.1 QB rating <<< that is SAD for this generation of QBs.

Posted by: rareluck Oct 8 2010, 06:38 PM

I am bumping this to the top because I still have these. And once again Orton is going off. So... Should I sell or sit longer??? lol

Posted by: coltsfan23 Oct 8 2010, 06:46 PM

If you're interested in selling the gold, I'd definitely be interested.
