I'm trying to figure out whether a baseball in my possession is worth anything. The baseball in question was autographed by Dee Fondy (single signature). A Dee Fondy autographed photo/baseball card/paper is not worth much if recently completed ebay auctions are any indication, but I recently saw a listing on ebay where somebody is asking $550 for a single-signed Dee Fondy baseball. From what I can discern, the seller is claiming that it's rare to find Dee Fondy's autograph on a baseball (a google search would seem to confirm that because that's the only listing/picture I've ever found).
I realize people can ask any number they want on ebay, but does that asking price have any bearing in reality?
To give a little background...I'm trying to divide a collection of autographed baseball amongst me and 2 cousins (from my Grandfather's collection, who recently passed away). Whether this baseball is worth $25 or $500 would make a big difference in how we divide them. I'd appreciate any insight that could be provide. Thanks!
