Collector Zone _ Football _ does anybody here want to play fantasy football?

Posted by: aceecards May 19 2005, 10:50 AM

I would like to setup a league on Yahoo for tradingcardcentral members.

if you are interested, post to this thread, when Yahoo starts the leagues sometime in August, I will setup the league and invite the posters to this thread to play.

In order to make it more competetive, I would like every player to donate an Auto BV $20.00 to the winner take all kitty.

I am open to suggestions.

I might be interested.

For those of us that have never taken part in these yet though, can you explain what's involved a little more? For example, how much time is involved or does that vary depending on how badly you want to win?

there is a lot of time spent.

The drafts are usually done automated. You rank your players before the deadline(or you can accept the way the computer ranks the players going into the season including rookies coming in. after the deadline date their computer randomly generates your roster based on every bodies ranking and draft order. you can pickup players from the awiver wire by dropping a player or putting someone on IR.

Weekly you have to double check your lineups for byes injuries etc.

Yahoo does all the scoring and trades and waiver wire pickups seeds the playoffs etc.

A little knowledge of football and a little weekly dedication to your lineup can produce a winner.

Trades are made by accepting or declining offers made to you or by you making an offer to someone else. All the league members can then examine the trade for fairness and can veto a trade that they perceive as one sided.

It is a lot of fan. Once you play you are hooked win or lose.

Not sure how much of that I have... Maybe I'll just have a bad team. laugh.gif

Is there an entire area on Yahoo for this? If so, do you have a link to that?

I play fantasy baseball and Premier League football (British Soccer) every year.

I would be interested in playing and can easily provide $20 BV worth of insert cards for the kitty. (If you remove the restriction from one auto card because I don't think I have any single autos with BV > $20 that I want to part with)

I might not be very good, but it will be fun .. since the NFL only plays once a week its not like the baseball Fantasy leagues where you have to check every day.

I would think its just a few hours before the season to organise and draft your team, and an hour or two a week to check results and make any trades. Though some people will probably spend a lot more obsessing over every player, rumor, and box score wink.gif

What about everyone else ?

iut is a blast. We can play for fun if anyone would rather or. I can put up a nice auto card of Gale Sayers as a prize.

Yes Yahoo will have the site up by mid-july under there sports button and then fantasy home. There is still a chance to play midseason baseball but it requires daily effort where football is more like once or twice a wekk.

OK lets make it official the next 9 poster that say I do will be in the running for the sayers auto card

I'm already in, right? I have no problem adding cards to the mix as well if that's desired by everyone that signs up.

Thanks for the very kind words. wink.gif

Our great group of core members is a big part of what is underway here as well. You're now the 11th member to move past 100 posts and we have 3 others moving in on that milestone.

Over time, I'm confident that our numbers will continue to grow as word gets out about what's happening here. We're proving that collectors can get together and have lots of good, clean fun. wink.gif

When opportunities arise to tell others, do it! For example, if you ever see posts on other sites that ask about other places that collectors visit, make sure you mention TCC.

Just wanted to mention again that it's okay to use insert, game-used and/or autograph cards since that was a concern that was raised before. wink.gif

Wow. Is this card #94 from the 2004 Topps Signature set?

-Bob

Posted by: aceecards Jun 13 2005, 08:08 AM

it sure is.

I figured why not get this competition off to a bang and get a really good card out there to get the juices flowing.

Also Our draft took place over night.

You can go look at your team, make waiver wire transactions, trade offers etc.

Right now, I am looking for a WR so check your trade posts. When you pull up your team the trade offers will be right at the top and require you to either accept or decline the offer, or counter offer.

For waiver wire just hit the player button and you can sort a million different ways, by position, by stats, so on so forth. Any waiver requests require a mandatory two day wait.

uugh...

looks like the draft happened without me having a chance to look at my preferences. Oh well .. looks like I will have to play the hand that has been dealt - doeesn't look like that bad of a hand.

don't know what I to put up .. I don't have any FB autos or game used (not a big FB collector)... I'll look .. but if I can't make up my mind .. how about I pledge a $25 eBay gift certificate to the winner ?

I just let my team completely get picked by the draft as well without changing any of the pre-draft settings, etc. I think most of us did, actually. I'm not sure that I would have known what to do differently anyway. This will be a learning experience. laugh.gif

I would certainly not complain about a $25 eBay certificate. wink.gif
