Soooo.....I'm working on a new article regarding trading down. I know a lot of people shy away from trading down. It's never been a big deal for me, but I always find it difficult to convince others to trade down when I'm looking to trade up. I'm curious to know your thoughts on the subject.

For me as with all trades it would depend on what is actually being traded. Personally I would be willing to trade some Relic/Auto cards for just a plain Auto version of the card in many cases. I have never been a huge fan of the Game Used/Relic concept. Although I do have some relic cards that I have no plans to ever get rid of and relics like bat card relics are a little different to me than uniform relics. I know it is going against my protesting of the concept to keep some of these, but I admit there are times when they make some very beautiful looking cards with a cut piece of memorabilia in them. Also if I were trading a high-value relic or auto or even insert of a player from a team I have no desire to collect for some cards of my fave players or team I would do that trade down. Like I said it all comes down to what is actually being traded.

For me I think each trade should be a trade that both trade partners are happy with. Be it trading down, or an even trade.

I usually don't keep track of the current BVs anymore and tend not to trade with those who are sticklers for keeping everything exactly even according to the accountant's ledger.

depends on how bad i want what the other party has. But.. I have a rule of thumb, lets just say if I value something at plus $200 I need at least get that is 50% or $100

Im not going to trade a $200 card for 8 - $25 cards
