Also, I have mentioned matting. Here is what the poster can look like with matting. It covers nearly all of the white on the perimeter of the poster and looks professional.

He made the suggestion that we resolve this ourselves first and that is the approach that is the most fair. Meaning, "I can propose a card(s) to make up for the damage." Or another idea would be to trade a CJ auto straight up for the frazier glove.

You keep saying it's not your fault that the item is damaged, well it's not my fault either. I sent it the way I was advised by the usps to send the poster. If it is damaged and you want a total reimbursement for it's value, I suggest you take it up with usps.

If you want to go with Richard's first suggestion, I am willing to work with you.

I have been trading for 12 years online and many prior to that. I know how to ship things carefully and I can honestly say this is the first time on my end I have ever had anything show up damaged. I can't say as I have sent many posters over the years so when I did go to send this poster I brought the same container that it was shipped to me with and asked the guy at the post office, is this the right container to ship this in? He said yes, you want to use a poster tube (which is what I shipped it in). I asked if there was anything special I needed to pack it with and he said no. Just role it up carefully and place it in the tube and it will be fine.

When I heard about the damage I actually called the post office and talked to someone from the usps and asked the same question. What is the proper way to send a poster and I described the dimensions. He said to use a poster tube and repeated exactly what was described to me when I sent it a week prior.

Bottom line, neither of us agreed on insuring the item and it was clearly damaged in transit. I feel I did everything I knew to do in sending this poster in the best condition possible. I have no control over what happened once I placed it in the hands of the usps.

Is it unfortunate? yes. Is it my fault? no. Is it his fault? no.

I didn't want to air this out for everyone to see for one reason. It had the potential to get ugly and that is where we are right now.

So for the record... he has expressed interest in my signed Joe Frazier boxing glove. I said I will trade in your favor to help recover the damage that happened with DiMaggio. My last pm said that I have seen signed Joe Frazier gloves sell recently in the $80-100 range depending on the coa. My Frazier glove is dual authenticated by two reputable companys. Then I offered that I would trade $50 in his favor. To me that is more than reasonable. Apparently to him "it's not even close."

Doing my best to work this out as fairly as possible. If we come to an agreement, we will post the particulars. I know matting will cover the wrinkles and I will post a pic after work tonight.

I put matting around mine when I framed mine. Barely any of the outside white portion of the poster show and it looks better when matted as well. I can send a pic if you like after work today.

Great tip, Richard. What about matting? Wouldn't that cover the side? Any other ideas for us?
