Collector Zone _ Everything Else _ MRI

This Friday, I'm scheduled for my second check-up MRI since I had the brain tumor removed on June 15, 2005. I might not be going this Friday, though.....depends on how much snow we get tonight and tomorrow. If we get enough snow......the MRI will be postponed.

I will know for certain tomorrow (probably as soon as in the morning) if I'll be going Friday or not. In any case, I would appreciate any prayers for a good outcome from anyone who is religious here at TCC. If everything looks fine, I won't be scheduled for another MRI until this time next year.

Thank you. The tumor was discovered May 10, 2005 - it had been growing 7-10 years, and only discovered after having intense headaches. But, I knew it happened for a reason.......God has a plan for me, and the tumor was somehow related to it. Actually, that's one reason I joined TCC - I was homebound for over a year due to the tumor and surgery, and I had plenty of time to be online.

Well - the MRI has been postponed due to iffy weather. Now scheduled for March 26th - but will still appreciate any prayers. This MRI is just to make certain that the tumor has not grown back. The past tumor was benign, but the type of tumor can grow back. I just hope and pray that it doesn't.

I'm scheduled for another check-up MRI next year (March 24, 2008), as he still wants to continue to keep a check on it (he said it's rare for a person my age (19) to have a large brain tumor like the one I had. To everyone: thank you a million for your thoughts and prayers! I thank God once again for all being ok. God bless you all for your concern.

Posted by: ffman Mar 24 2008, 05:43 PM

I am back.

The MRI showed a small, 8 millimeter tumor on the outside of the brain near my left temple. According to my neurosurgeon, I have nothing to worry about at the moment; however, my next check-up scan has been moved up to August 4 as he said this needs to be watched. It's possible that the tumor could continue growing, or it might stay the same size. If the first case is true, it will eventually need to be taken care of through surgery or radiation. He said surgery would be much less involved than the operation that removed the original tumor in 2005 (which was as large as a man's fist) due to the smaller size. I pray that it grows no more.

Everyone, thank you for your thoughts and prayers. I would appreciate any more you could throw my way over the next half-a-year.

I'm back, and the outcome was great.

According to my neurosurgeon, the tumor has not grown at all. According to him, it is about the size of a "pea". He said it is nothing to worry about - the tumor is currently "stable". I'm due for a check-up MRI in six months, as he said it's best to watch it.

I'm glad Landon went with me, as he helped keep my mind off of the issue a little bit. Thank you to each of you for your support!

I knew how to during the first go-round (the month before the surgery), as my mother and I were as calm as we have ever been....filled with faith I guess. Lately though I get very nervous and stressed prior to each check-up. I was like this even before they found the second tumor.

I had the MRI but walked into the doctor's office to see a packed house. My doctor was FOUR hours behind. They are going to call us with the results when they have a chance. The receptionist said it could be 2-3 weeks, but knowing my doctor he probably won't take that long. If we don't hear anything in the next couple days we will call.

Not necessarily as backed up as he was today. The best I could tell, he had some kind of emergency early that morning.

But he's a good doctor. After my surgery in 05 he called my mother from a conference in ITALY to let let us know the original tumor was benign.

Good deal Cody!!

I think ive had about 9? MRI's now...

Have you gotten to where you fall asleep in it?

When the nurse sees me coming she just gets a blanket and says have a nice nap!

Posted by: finestkind May 18 2009, 08:35 PM

Awesome Cody ! Keep up the great work. smile.gif

Posted by: ffman May 18 2009, 08:37 PM

This was probably my.....6 or 8th?.... altogether I guess.

If it wasn't so darn uncomfortable I might be able to - I actually closed my eyes and thought about trying today. laugh.gif

That's awesome, Cody! biggrin.gif I'm so happy for you. smile.gif I can't even count the number of MRI's I've had. They've always been a part of my life. I haven't had them very regularly. Only when I've had a problem or when it's been awhile and I see a new dr.

Update - I didn't go today. Sunday morning I woke up with bad sinus drainage. Later during the day my legs and arms began to feel restless, and I also started having chills. Last night my temp got up to 100.9, and has been fluctuating between 98.6 and 100 (my normal is around 97.7).

They don't want me over there sick around other patients. It has been rescheduled for May 2.

Posted by: ffman May 1 2011, 10:19 AM

I am going tomorrow, May 2, for my check-up.

I would appreciate any thoughts and prayers!

Posted by: ffman Jul 2 2012, 07:13 PM

Thanks to everyone for the prayers and well-wishes. To quote my doctor, the scan was "perfect"; no growth - the tumor is the size same (pea-sized) as when it was discovered four years ago. I go for another check-up next year; if future scans are good, I may be able to delay the MRIs to one every two years.

Thanks to mvpujols#5 and his mother for taking/going with us.

Yessiree! Waiting on a replacement Visa card (accidentally left my wallet in my jeans during my MRI and de-magnetized all my cards) before I make any more eBay purchases.

I have been buying too much Topps Chrome though.
