Things have been a little "down" here on TCC, so let's have a little fun!
It’s time for the second annual Christmas in July!!
Secret Santas, it's time to warm up the sleigh, and give the reindeer frozen margaritas instead of eggnog! Let's see if we can have as much fun as we did last year!
For those who do not know what a Secret Santa is: Those who want to participate will be given the name of another TCC Member who also agrees to participate. Each participant sends a gift of cards to the person whose name they are given. In turn, the first participant receives a gift from another participating Member.
Here are the guidelines for anyone who wants to participate:
1) Members who would like to participate should send me a PM with the following information: Name and address ; Collecting interests ; a general idea of what they may have to give (that way I can avoid matching up a football collector with someone who only has baseball available)
2) The deadline for signing up will be Sunday, July 31.
3) After the deadline, I will match up names & send out PMs to each member letting them know the name, address & collecting interest of the member they are to send their gift out to.
4) Gifts can be whatever you like to send (after all, it is a “gift”), but hopefully, you can tailor it to the recipient’s collecting interests.
5) There is no minimum or maximum value to be placed on the gift. We have members of all different ages and economic circumstances, & I would prefer not to exclude anyone just because they cannot afford a “minimum” value.
6) Participating Members will have until Sunday, August 21 (my birthday!! 
) to send out their gifts.
7) Once you send out your gift, please PM me letting me know you have done so. That way I can keep track of everything.
8) Once you receive your gift, please post what you received in this thread. I think that everyone would be pleased to see what other Members received.
9) Anyone who signs up to participate agrees to fulfill their obligation to the person whose name is given to them. Even though it is better to give than to receive, it would be pretty sad to send something & then be left out.
I’m sure that I’ve not covered everything in this post, so if you have any questions, please feel free to post them in the thread so I can share the answers with everyone.
NOTE: If you are on restrictions, you will not be able to participate. Nor will anyone who did not fulfill their obligation in past Secret Santas.

I Got my package correction box (there was a very cool piece of memorabilia) on Monday. 
I'm still in a bit of shock. I think I hit the Super Summer Secret Santa Sweepstakes.
I will try to make a video of everything or take some pictures as there is a lot to scan and the memorabilia piece most likely won't scan well. I wasn't just a case of opening up a box and pulling the contents out, well OK it was once I took out all the packing peanuts. It was a cleaver way of packaging designed to build up the excitement and each level was slightly more of a "how can he top that"? and "What Next"?
St. Nick 264 scouted my collection stats and needs well.
I"m trying to catalog things before I do my video so I have a sort of script, because I am awful at identifying modern cards on the fly while videoing. I also want to make it sort of short but still show everything. It may take a few days as I'm slow with these types of things.

Ok, so, my package came along with cards from a group break, so my santa wasn't all that secret

First!
I open up the package, and along with the break cards, theres a bigger package in there as well... it read "merry christmas in august". I open it up and see this..
I was like, Cool! When I opened it I saw Beanie! Times 2!
I already had one of these letter autos, but! I need two "L"s to spell Wells 
Underneath those two sweet Beanies, was this.. The actual content of the Peyton Manning Destiny 2000 box..
But...
That's not all!.. underneath those cards was this... See now this, is just plain awesome. If it wasn't for Topps' usual odd centering, it would be a 9/9.5.
Really, really cool cards.. Really brightened up everything. Thank you Sam.

Yea my power was out Yesterday (power went out in the wee hours of Sunday aprox. 3:45 AM and came back on around 6:30 AM today Monday)
As mentioned I have received. I need to work on my presentation. If I had time and the skills I'd do a powerpoint presentation.
I've also had other things on my plate lately so even though I've been thinking about cards I haven't actually been doing anything with them.

I'm sorry what I sent to my secret santa wasn't what they deemed to be worthy of a free gift I have yet to receive mine and after reading the posts about what I sent, I don't care if I do as the whole point is to give something to someone else. For what it's worth the email I got stating what the person wrote what they collected was:

To me I think that's pretty clear that means send whatever you can. It's what I had around to give at the time. I was never contacted directly about it and after reading the posts about it, it makes me sick. I joined this to be nice. To whomever got me, if you haven't sent to me, please don't.

Don't let the comments of an ungrateful member, spurn you. It is an event to have fun and give to others. These events very rarely go off without an issue of some fashion, but overall are very well received and enjoyable to participate in. Don't let this event change your thoughts or whom you are. I sent out PMs to everyone who has not confirmed either sending or receiving. I have only had a couple of responses, none of which were very promising.
Frankly, it's been pretty disappointing.
Between people signing up and not sending and those receiving either not bothering to acknowledge or complaining about what they received, it makes me wonder whether to run another one of these ever again.

Gotta agree. And I feel ultra happy that I was lucky enough to both have mine received and I got mine.. Really sad to see this go so oddly.. wrong?
You know a lot of us would be in again, how about keeping a "non-sending" list to make sure people who don't send, don't participate? Hey! I'm just brainstorming here:P

Bummer guys, but these things rarely go w/o issues of some kind. Why I don't do these kind of things, just give stuff to folks when I feel they appreciate it or something I think they need. The random giving tends to get contagious around here too and doesn't have the negativity and problems that seem to arise from these organized ones.

Also time I did the free box break (only sent the hits) and yeah it was Hockey but....had folks trying to sell or trade them before I even sent them to them (trading I have no qualms about but selling different, and least they could do is wait until they got them).

OK so I attempted to make a video of the stuff I had gotten from Bob Mr. 264. I did some pre-planning and started the video recorded it and I had forgotten that ustream doesn't do pre-recorded uploads. ARGH (I don't add to youtube partly just because I don't really want to). So I couldn't add my 20 minute plus video to ustream. Then I thought of photobucket, but alas my video was too large and at the 60% mark would freeze up. Argh and Ack.
OH NO! The videos are there but there is no sound.
ACK! I see what the problem is ACK. The wrong audio source was sellected UGH. Well now I have to go back and re-do everything. But first I will have to get something to eat for dinner. So I will attempt a ustream broadcast around 9:00 PM EST tonight. UGH.
