Hi. I joined this site last year and got busy, never got around to making some trades. Well I'm back and should have time now. I can be reached at gglwebster@yahoo.com and gglwebster on YIM. I would love to make trades. I'll be working on a have/want list soon but I'm basically after football and baseball cards. I haven't been heavily vested into cards for years, so I don't have much high dollar stuff. I do have about 50,000 cards, mostly baseball, then basketball and football. I have a few hockey cards, some CCGs and other crazy stuff. I am also looking to trade for Heroclix and old comic books in good shape. Thanks for your time, hope to make some deals on here. Adios.

QUOTE(KHarmon @ Oct 9 2005, 02:00 AM)
I agree....I need more convincint....at what point is the wrestling matches governed by a set of rules.  Throwing someone out of the ring and onto the floor and then beating them with a chair is something I think you might get flagged for in other sports....but in wrestling it's just part of the act.  Like I said before....I agree that these guys are ATHLETES....but I don't see the sport in a scripted "game".
*

Wrestling matches are governed by a set of rules during every match, even matches with no rules. Refs/umps make mistakes in unscripted sports also, when they're NOT supposed to make mistakes, does that make them worse officiators?

If football players could take chairs onto the field with them, don't you think they would? Hockey players fight all the time, players charge the mound, football players do some of the dirtiest things under piles.... It is what it is. They just don't use chairs etc...

As for being scripted; what about all the games Pete Rose bet on, should those be counted as games? Whether he "scripted" some games to line his pockets or not, they were still games, no? Should every game that contains a player that turns up hot for illegal or performance enhancing drugs not count as a game? Every HoFer?

Wrestling is scripted. It's fake. It's a phony. But if everybody knows that already, is it still fake and scripted? Thinking about wrestling and not knowing that it's fake is like hearing the names Bonds, Conseco, McGwire, Giambi and not thinking about good old fashioned steroids... Pure or not theyr'e all athletes, competing, doing what they know they're supposed to do. If you're supposed to win, you better win. If you're supposed to lose, you better lose. I don't see the sport in hunting defenseless animals but it's done for sport. Hunters are commonly known as outdoor sportsmen. I have a more of an issue with that than with wrestling.

No sport is pure. Faults range from illegal hits, to contract holdouts. Fighting with camera men/beer throwers in the seats to fights in the pits. Arguing/fighting with officials to allowing murderers and drug dealers to compete. A decade of tarnished numbers due to steroids to athletes dying far too early as a result of the drugs and poundings they take in their respective sport, and even during their respective contests in some cases.

"Who's next?!"

Alright guys, huge wrestling fan here. I wish I had time to give a full explanation right now but I gotta get to work in half an hour so wet your mouths on this:

Sport is...

1a) Physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively.
1b) A particular form of this activity.
2) An activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively.
3) An active pastime; recreation.

Scripted or not, by definition, wrestling is a sport.

*This has been another definition brought to you by a random Webster*

Another interesting story behind the name.  Let's hear some more.

I usually go with PooPHeaDFreD. I've been using that since '96 when I first got onto the internet. It progressed from poop to XPooPFaceX to finally, PooPHeaDFreD. I didn't use it on here because I use gglwebster when I want to be taken seriously, as with trading... (hopefully soon!) gglwebster is my name, Geoffrey George Luther Webster. No unique story behind that, it's just long.

Congrats on the Piazza. Not a great box but those things never seem to be. I don't know if I've pulled anything good out of those, ever... And with that, I can say I've never pulled anything worth remembering out of those mixed boxes smile.gif

It looks like I've got almost 80 of these cards. They're from the Fellowship of the Ring set? I don't have a price guide on these so I really don't know if I have anything good....

Trying something new:

Looking to pick up LOTR gaming cards, packs/sets, don't know the whole gambit of what is out there.

PM me with what you've got if you have interest in trading for a couple hockey sets I have.

Hi, I think I've got a starter deck and a few packs worth of cards lying around somewhere if you're interested. I am not into hockey though. Do you have any other sport?

These cards all came from either insert or parallel/insert sets in the 1998 Topps product.

For the 1998 Topps Clemente cards (1-19), card #1 is worth $15 and the other 18 are worth $8 each.

For the 1998 Topps Clemente Finest cards (1-19), card #1 is worth $20 and the other 18 are worth $10 each.

For the 1998 Topps Clemente Finest Refractor cards (1-19), card #1 is worth $40 and the other 18 are worth $20 each.

I'd be interested in all 5 of them, so please let me know exactly which ones they are as well as what players/teams you collect.

Thanks,

-Bob

That's kind of what I thought. I couldn't find the Finest versions in the Beckett and the different year copyrights messed me up too.. Thanks for the help. The two Finest are 15 and 19. I don't think either is a refractor. Of the regular ones I have 1, 13, and 18. I'm after the stuff in my signature really, and Devil Rays smile.gif I'll take a look at your list.

I'm working on my list and came across five Clemente cards. Two have Finest protectors on them and three don't. I found the Clemente stuff under 1998 Topps but that doesn't explain the Finests. Also, two of the three non Finest have 1997 copyright on the back, the third has a 1998. I can find nothing in 1997 for these cards. The two Finest appear to be from a different set, as I have a 13 of 19 from the protecteds and the non. I don't know where I got these things but if anybody can point me to where I can find them in the book, I'd appreciate it, thanks.

PS If anybody wants these things let me know!

I was on for an hour before the chat and am in the chat, by myself, quite a bit. I had to go to work but I was hoping somebody would show up early... Is there any way we could get another chat time going? Or have people just load the chat? I'd love to get some trades going and hate posting. I'd much rather do it in a chat or over a messenger....

I love the 2005 Studio Portraits set and want to get as many of of these cards as I can. All players, colors, borders, #s.. doesn't matter. I just want them.

My list still isn't done, infact not even close... So if you want to make something work, make sure I can get to your wantlist or tell me players you're looking for, I've got some of everything.

Always feel free to message me on AIM or YIM for trades!

Just wondering what the value of this is, I don't have it in my Beckett Plus. I won it on eBay for $8.00 and the guy is local to me so I pick my cards up from him to save shipping smile.gif (nice guy)

Newbie here. I'm after Felix Hernandez AUTOs and whatever else. I have tons of baseball, basketball, and football cards. I'd kind of like to turn my basketball cards into football cards. Not many GU or Autos in basketball, as I stopped collecting those a few years ago... I'm working on my list right now.
