There is much discussion about hot pack sellers and buyers.

The people that can't afford the price of most boxes that garantee and auto or Gu like the fact that they can just buy the hits of a box.

Other people dispise them for this. We've all seen "those guys" who are feeling all the packs down at you local walmart or target.

I just wanted to know other TCC members opinions.

biggrin.gif I surely dont Massage the packs at walmart and target, but i do still buy retail as much as hobby, reason being, my local hobby shop is not local by far, so sure, if i can travel a mile and get some sort of excitement with some retail packs, I,ll do it... I,ve really had some decent pulls from retail, of course no 1 of 1, but some nice ones... one of my favorites is a Walter Payton, rookie reprint jersey card..... but your absolutely correct, I,ve seen fellas feeling packs up, with there wife behind them with that>> I dont get that attention look. biggrin.gif laugh.gif

i dont think i will go as far as to crucify people for pack searching its wrong to do, but nobody is going to stop them. Its just something collector's have to live with. I prefer hobby because of better chances. But it is not going to prevent me from purchasing retail.

It's good to see people making their voice heard about the great hobby we all love.

Me personally, I would never go to a Walmart or a Target and sit there and feel every pack. But I do admit, if there is a SP Athentic hot pack with a garanteed By the Letter autograph in it for only $13... whistling1.gif I might be sly and place a bid or two. biggrin.gif

I nail and will continue to nail very publically anyone searching packs at any store I patronize. I did it just the other day, they guy looked as if he wanted to rip into me...but thought better of it. Pack searching is THEFT and product destruction. When I worked Wal-Mart Loss Prevention for 9 years I would ban them and it stuck---my case to the Home Office, they damage the items inside--flexing, finger nails etc. I was to protect Wal-Mart assests. Not to mention the damage to those spending their money or allowance on a chance to at least the get the odds. I cannot convince you that have no moral ideals toward this topic...if someone steals even a penny it is felt by the next person. When a item is stolen it has a trickle effect...like dropping a stone into a lake the ripple continues going out. I sent away people who stole .97 cents and to my largest $250,000.00+---no matter it was STEALING!!!
Pack searchers are theives and those who KNOWINGLY purchase said searched packs are aiding and abetting their theft. Like it or not you are part of the problem. I do not have a gray line concerning theft, it is black and white.

If i see someone pack searching, i will say something to them...i love confrontation too...i wish they would touch me, im 6'2" 220lbs and most of the people that are with me are around the same size too, i really dont have to worry about anything...but i dont think pack searching is theft...as long as they pay for the items, i do agree its wrong, but its not theft, theft is when they stick it in their pockets and walk out...and ive talked to a few pack searchers and they say if they find a hot pack theyll also buy 3 or 4 more packs from the same box, so its still bad, but not as bad, they way i see it in that sense, if you say a pack that was BULGING out the foil and all the other ones were not, your going to buy that pack...its just pack searchers are going to the extreme to find that pack...i dont think they should be prosecuted, but rather someone say something to em...and yes if i see a hot pack on ebay, im going to buy it, i dont care what people think of me, so be it, pack searchers are going to search, people are going to buy the packs, and im one of them, but like i said, ill still buy packs from retail WITHOUT pack searching, because theres still a chance that MAYBE someone didnt search through them and i might get GU or AUTO, if i got a greg oden base rc i would be happy as well, but everyones got a opinion and i respect it...que sera sera

I don't pack search and have no idea how they do it, but how is it considered stealing if they pay for the product? It's annoying when I see them doing it and they like to give dirty looks when you interrupt them and grab a stack fo cards and leave.

Follow me on this....
If I am doing something good, heroic, nice, honest, compassionate---I do not, nor can I be made to feel what I am doing is wrong--nor can you startle me, make me jump, I do not cut my eyes around, I do not have to tell myself that this is not wrong.

Question:
Why do you say anything to them if it is not wrong?
Why does it annoy you if it is not wrong?
Why do they give you a dirty look if it is not wrong? "It's annoying when I see them doing it and they like to give dirty looks when you interrupt them and grab a stack fo cards and leave."

Does it annoy you when someone is doing good, or being compassinate???

Most people say spending an extra five minutes in the break room is not theft!
But it is.

A candy bar cost, lets say .50 cents...I take one, no big deal...it is only .50 cents...2 quarters...half a dollar. You have 500 workers each have that mentality...that is $250.00 a day, $1,750.00 a week, $13,000.00 a year.

If what they are doing is not wrong---then WHY BUY MORE PACKS??
Okay, I buy a box of Cherrios, but I have to buy a few extra boxes because I found the only box left with the toy listed on the box.
"and ive talked to a few pack searchers and they say if they find a hot pack theyll also buy 3 or 4 more packs from the same box, so its still bad, but not as bad, they way i see it in that sense"

THEY DAMAGE THE SIDES OF THE CARDS WITH THEIR FINGER NAILS.
THEY FLEX (BEND) THE CARDS---

Do you push your finger nail into your cards at home?
Do you flex and bend your cards at home?
Why Not...there is nothing wrong with it......RIGHT!!!
Can I come to your house flex and bend your cards???? NO---Why not?
The cards in the store are someones property. Real people--

They are theives---.....Period

Comparing pack feeling to stealing a candy bar is a little rough. I mean in the end these people are paying whatever the pack equals out to,when you steal you have no intent on paying anything. But i also have to bring up the fact that if the clerks at you're local shop pick the packs for you, how can you honestly know they are not checking themselves. They may do it, so they can help out someone who is a better customer than you or someone they like better. I have been buying packs of SP Authentic as of late. I let the woman behind the area pick my pack. She looks through the packs and picks one that looks like a thicker one and guess what i have pulled 4 btl autos.

lets also be honest if people have time to pack search that is pretty pathetic. I have better things to do with my day then sit in target and feel through packs to see which one has a jersey in it. I sort of would rather hang out with girls or maybe even do something active like work out. Much more rewarding
