The Official BKB Box Break Club - June 09

Introduction


Hey guys it's time for the Big Break. This is the two year anniversary of the the TCC Basketball Group Box Break. This month the fees are going up to $100/spot as this is a special break, but will go back down next month. This will make for $1,000 in boxes to break.

How it Works (Official Rules)

Each member pays $100 ($102 if paying via PayPal). That covers about $1,000 in boxes, shipping, and supplies. You get one team (you cannot take a team that has already been taken) of your choice. The remaining 20 teams go to the members via a draft. This gives you a total of three teams. Every single card pulled out of a box that has a player from one of your three teams goes to you. The box breaks are done via a video break, so there is no question as to what was pulled.

Fees are due by the 15th. The boxes are ordered and the draft begins as soon as all fees are collected. As soon as the draft completes and the boxes are in, the video breaks are done. The cards are then shipped out by the box breaker as soon as the results have been posted. We decide as a group what boxes to break each month.

In regards to box selection, I usually try to push for a Topps product, but their just really aren't any great Topps products out right now. Also, since there were no rookie exclusives I don't see the need for Topps. I really like the products suggested above.

I haven't looked at prices, but didn't we do OK with 07/08 Echelon? I'd still like to see at least one topps product since we've only broken 1 box of topps products in the last 3 or 4 months.

You have a valid point, so if you want Echelon that's fine by me. Blowout doesn't have any Echelon in stock at the moment, but at Dave and Adams it's about $150.

Basically we would be swapping a box of Chronology ($153) for Echelon ($150). Between the two I think Chronology is the better product, but I do see your side. Personally, the only advantage I see to Echelon is the shot at an Oden or Wade auto.

I have nothing against Topps products, I just don't think their releases of late are worth the money (Treasury, Signature, Hardwood, Murad... just not that good). You also need to consider that if we should happen to pull a redemption out of Echelon Topps will not honor it. You will end up with a Topps Signature auto instead of whatever the Echelon redemption should have been.

So how does this list sound to everyone?

(1) 2008-09 UD Black $230 (2 Hits)
(1) 2007-08 Chronology $154 (4-5 Hits)
(1) 2007-08 Topps Echelon $150 (4 Hits)
(2) 2008-09 UD Premier $480 (10-12 Hits)

That comes to $1014. Blowout has the best price on Black and Chronology, but Blowout does not have Echelon or Premier in stock. Dacardworld.com has Echeclon and Premier. The prices on these boxes have all gone up in the last week.

Black is cheaper, so maybe we want two boxes of Black and one of Premier? However, a box of Premier has 4 hits as apposed to Black's 2 hits.

Hey guys, I don't think that D3foot10k is going to be in this month due to his CTO restriction. He hasn't been on since 5-26-09. I hope that everything is okay with him and his family. With that being said, Booth9919 is first on the waiting list for the Bulls. Booth9919 will take the Bulls for this break. That now leaves one spot still open. Fourkids was interested in a spot, so I'll send him a PM to see if he's still interested.

What about droppin the black and getting another box of premier, That would be more hits for the buck and I think a better shot at hitting something nice
