I adjusted the AI, so next time, we should kick a FG on the last play of the game!

I put in a more aggressive scheme and saved it separately from what we have been running. I will tinker with 3rd down to try to get the blitz up more.

We can use both and go with one or the other for the playoff games. wink.gif

Thx to Bushidoboard for the idea.

Shoulda had that one.

There is a new Marketplace link on GLB which makes it easy to track down FAs.

I have PM'd a couple of high level DEs- hopefully MTG and I can get one to sign soon.

I sent a PM RE: Construction, but I am not an expert.

As for the linebacker hunt, should be level 18 by the second game and I will save his last boost. I think we will be alright with 5 in a 4-3 scheme. I will PM Josh for a contract once we have more cash and I hit level 16.

All we need now is one end level 15-17 to be a back up and 18+ to start. Our ends should be tough in a three man rotation next to all the new tackles.

Good job with recruiting guys. The back up QB looks like he has some potential too.

Yes - speed, agility, and vision would be good as well as the top SA tree. You look like a good run stuffer and we will keep you covered with the secondary. Confidence is a good place to train to the mid to high 20s. Keep up the good work.

Hey -
Look what I found out about - helpful with player builds, scouting, and game viewing. A teammate on my other squad showed it to us.

I decided to share it here rather than GLB - feel free to pass it on.

1. Install firefox (Internet browser that's a million times better than internet explorer).

----Here's the link... http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

2. Install greasemonkey. It will allow you to use add-ons that I will post in a moment.

---Link... https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/748

3. Install these add-ons. They are honestly awesome, and will help the builds for this team. It even tells you where to add our skill points. It will make the jobs of our GM's SO easy. I'll explain...

---This first one is one that shows your skill "Numbers". When you're done installing it (Takes literally 5 seconds) go look at your player's page, and it will show you numbers in the skill meter bars as well as the colors... Link: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/27696

---The 2nd one I will show you guys will help a TON with our builds. It shows you which builds you need to work on for that position based on colors. The blue color means that you need the most of that. Green means it is a minor attribute you will need. What you do to look at it is click "Skill Points" on the top of your player page right besides "equipment". Now click on "Build Type", and you'll see what I mean. Link: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/27694
Example of what it will look like: http://img155.imageshack.us/my.php?image=b...eexamplejz4.png

---The third one is mainly for GM's, but I know many of our players like to watch film of our games, etc. This will allow you to see, for example, How many times they ran it in the 3rd and if they ran inside to the left the right etc, etc, etc. To see this, just click on a game, and look at play-by-play. It's awesome! Link: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/28938
Example of what this will look like: http://www.imagecross.com/image-hosting-vi...creenshot-1.png

---The last one I will share with you for now is for everyone. I know a lot of us get very angry because of the way the replays are shown, you have to watch the same play over and over and over. This add-on will allow you to watch the whole game uninterrupted! Awesome idea IMO. Here's the link: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/28720

They may be free agents - see if Josh can send you a contract offer.

Nice game today guys, they turned to a deep zone to stop our offense from getting big plays. The flip side is that zone will keep any good team in the game as it did today.

What we are doing is working and we can play around with new stuff during the scrimmages in the offseason. We have a good team, we just need a deeper bench and a little more time to develop our players into a more versatile scheme.

We have already exceeded expectations this year - and are in a fight for the playoffs in our first season.

QUOTE(bushidobard @ Jun 29 2008, 09:42 AM)
Hey Jim.

I like pretty much everything you listed here.

2 other things to consider:

1. Do we make any other positional switches?  Say at LB?  I haven't really analyzed the builds lately, but now would seem a good time to do so.

2. I'm really worried about the run.  I haven't at all looked at their offensive tendencies, but this is a very smart team.  I know if I were them looking at us, even if I thought I could beat our CBs, I wouldn't want to risk INTs.  I would also see our D as being vulnerable to the run and want to run HARD.

How can we tweak defensive settings to be set up the best for this while still playing to our strength?  How can we be prepared, say, for a 75% run attack best without getting burned?

Does blitzing help us against the run or hurt us too much against pass?
I know we're great at man, but does that leave us more vulnerable to the outside run?
Are they going to go inside (which is our weakness, I think) or outside on us?

I don't have any answers unfortunately, so I'm really thankful someone else is D-coordinator!  laugh.gif

On the other side of the ball, please see my thread on GLB and make suggestions as needed.
*

I'm thankful someone else is the offensive coordinator. I stink at trying to score points laugh.gif .

1) I wouldn't make an adjustment to the linebackers. They have all been performing very well and I think we have found the right spots for them.

2) When Monsta and I key our safeties to run - it helps a lot. Maybe we should try it again and keep all corners at medium coverage. This is what we did in our games against running teams.

3) Tactics are the only way to set up for the run and be in position to stop the pass. We may need to ask the corners to back off on their aggression so that we can sell out on stuffing the run with defensive ends, Pepper Carson, and our safeties. The other linebackers should key pass because the Monkeys throw in the medium and short range more than any teams I have seen.

If we can stay close - you know we have a chance in the end.

Here are some things to think about with the monkeys. They have depth at every position, and subs on both sides of the ball rotate in for 40 plays. This allows them to use ball control and wear down the other team.

Bushidoboard proposed a last minute defensive end switch to support the run on the left side of the line and generate a speed rush on the right side of the line. I like this idea - and the ida of getting a little bit more out of our back up level 15 defensive ends to keep the starters fresh later in the game. This strategy worked very well for the receivers in our come from behind win.

I am also thinking of having the ROLB and MLB key pass so that my safety can key the run. The left CB would then have to cover medium to make sure they don't get past us with the lack of safety support. Skeetz will be balanced as usual for a change of pace.

I thought I would toss some things out there to get the ball rolling and see what people think. I have made some minor adjustments to the defense advanced energy for your review. I am thinking like 55% run and 45% pass with a tad more blitzing (mostly to stop the run).

It's fun to join this team, but I'm worried about next season. We should foresee the situation and start making some offers to high level guys, knowing that some of the players we have may want to leave.

Also, I started looking that if we don't boost we are going to be outleveled by each and every single team. I'm one of those who thinks that I wouldn't spend money in this game, but it will get tougher and tougher...
*

I wouldn't be too worried - we have one thing the other teams don't - loyalty. Our guys won't want to see what free agency is like, or how much money they can get, we will just want to play for TCC. I am amazed at our record with the amount of turnover we have had, and we are through the hardest times, though we will lose some games from time to time.

I know Tex and Bushidoboard have tackles in the d-leagues and some other guys have made players. We will bring people on board at the end of the year (or sooner) and plug a few holes thereafter if we need too.

Nobody at a high level is going to want to come and be a back up with all the teams out there, we will grow our own players and have a great team!

I'm an addict too wink.gif

Maybe we could use a defensive end to come into the rotation. I am experimenting with a frequent sub rotation up front on my other team and we got our first two sacks today. My DE also got his first pick and 2nd forced fumble.

Gotta keep the big boys fresh - and if we go 4-3 then we could use 4 ends and 4 tackles. I can't wait to get some more help for TCC's fearsome front four.

This is really fun.

Hey -
I have had time to briefly review the next opponent's offense. It looks like they get lots of TDs by isolating guys with their big stud receiver and using 4 wide out long pass sets. To keep them from the big play I am thinking like 75/25 zone preference with corners, Mike Strahan and Big Alex keying pass / about 15% blitz. We will have to have play well all around to beat this good of team, and we may need to surprise them.

What do you guys think? Any feedback would be appreciated. I will review game film more thoroughly tomorrow morning and post tactics on GLB.

It will be a tough game, but I think we can hang with these guys.

I'm not convinced that we are losing for any reason other than being outranked at certain positions. Yes, some players have weak builds but I have already talked to the offensive ones. We can't bench people because we don't have suitable replacements. It sounds great in theory, but we're already getting killed when our subs are in -- did you watch any of those replays I posted from last week?

Yeah - well when the guy that puts up 13 points in 5 games is talking about making defenive acquisitions of guys in front of my players and telling me I don't know what I am doing, it makes me want to have more control of what is going on.

Try to score some points and then come talk to me.

I am throwing my name in the hat in for interim head coach - I don't need to be spending so much time with this, but want to help make the TCC team succeed - and fast, I will have some boxes to bust soon.

Players Made the Team
(Everybody on TCC and friends included) will be sent made the team PM's stating hide your attributes and p.m. me with attributes before your next level for advice and any contract requests. I will say good job or give advice/forward to OC and GM. This will be done by Sunday.

There are cheaters in the game and disgruntled players on the team so sharing attributes is not something I want our players to do - and mine are done having people view them unless requested.

We will then have the team P.M. me attributes in week 10 and at the end of the season. I trust everybody to make good decisions. We can also PM people as needed for their attributes.

Players on the bubble - we don't tell them what's going on.

Personnel
It is good to have so many top notch personnel, and chemistry is now a big problem. I work with Josh to let the recruiters know what we want and then he makes the final decision on the player. It looks like we are going with the 3-4 and it will be solid with another tackle and backup linebacker. Currently I see Slobberknocker as the fourth due to his special teams play and getting two more boosts and equipment when 3-4 is enacted.

No need to sign a top defense guy - they are leveling like crazy with all that PT.

Play Calling
I continue to call it for the defense in addition to setting auto adjust. In the last game with my other team I set it to over 60 because we had them out manned and I knew we could stop whatever they did (Usually it is set at like 15).

Offensive coordinator
You are doing fine. Teams with higher levels are adjusting to what we do. Just p.m. me the game plan and I will send it to Josh with suggestions. You two make the final call.

Day before game deadline of 12:00 Pacific. Josh does his thing and we are on the same page on game day (but I do reserve the right to make last minute defense and special teams adjustments).

Depth Chart
I set it to what I think is best on defense and special teams - Josh has the final call.

New game updates
I will help the offensive coordinator set AI according to what you guys want.

Benching Players
Guys get benched - so if they seem to be not doing what I say - I can put them second string (or if sit them out in case of bubble players) and no comments.

Control -
Full control over G.M. privileges. I am not interested in recruiting or doing anything against what jwmann wants, but if I know of a good connection or an emergency comes up I need to be able to make things happen. I also need to sticky and unsticky threads to make a point.

Sorry to be so direct, but that is my offer and I know we all want to win. I hope to help put TCC in a position to dominate next year, and everybody in the division is scared of our team. If we don't learn from this season - it will be a waste.

Oh yeah, where the heck are James McGee, Phil Clarkson, and Buster Bob? Get those guys and we are set.

Smashmouth leveled to 14 last game and was given custom equipment and boosted today. I am thinking about re-naming him FreightTrain.

Slobberknocker will boost tomorrow before the game and will level during it.

Should be soon, but don't know. The 3-4 might be the way to go with our team speed and to make the most out of the good linemen. We should just play what works best with our personnel at the time.

Keep up the efforts to improve the team! The guy we would be getting has a lot of pancakes, but is not very fast and has low vision. It would be good to see the other player's stats.

Also - do you think we will go to 3-4 defense when available. I think we should make a decision and sign more tackles (4-3) or linebackers (3-4) depending on what we will run. Good tackles are hard to find - so is we go 3-4 it might be easier to put Monsta's tackle and the other one in the middle.
