Just curious as to which method you most often use to get your autographed items. Please share why as well.

I am just starting to try these. I've traded for autos and pulled them out of packs, but there are some players that you just cannot find autographs of. I have put together an Excel spreadsheet of some of the addresses that I have found (all untested) and find it fun to see who, if anyone, will sign.

I just put together five letters tonight. These are who I am sending to:

Don Larsen
Kevin Maas (Don't laugh! One of my favorite players in the 90's)
(Senator) Jim Bunning
Gil McDougald
Duke Snider

I decided to write to The Silver Fox, because I know he is a good signer. Don't know about how the other ones are, but if I even hear from one of them - I will be more than happy. I ask each one of them a question, as well. For example, I asked Snide whether he preferred Brooklyn or Los Angeles...

I can see that I am rambling, so I'll sign this one as done. ;-)

--Joseph

p.s. How about a sticky in this forum, Bob, where we can post TTM successes (is that even spelled right - looks hideously incorrect)? I would be more than happy to share any successes, along with valid addresses that I have as I verify them.

Certainly. I'll set something up tomorrow where addresses and results can be posted. By the way, we're working on a potential partnership where we'll be able to provide a number of addresses through the site.

I just wanted to run this by all of you before adding the new forum and get your feedback...

The thought is to create a new subforum here in the main Autographs forum such as "Autograph Addresses/Successes" where threads would be added to post addresses and then replies can be made to track the sending of requests along with the ultimate (hopefully) successes.

Thoughts?

I like to get my CERTIFIED autos through Upperdeck, topps, press pass or any other major card company. With them you know you are getting the real thing. The other way is if i am there and getting it in person for myself. I take pictures of the person who signs it to prove it is genuine.
I read in Tuff Stuff (not sure what month but it was in the past 3-4 months) that one company was giving fake authentification for their auto they were selling. So people spent big bucks on these autos and now they are not worth the money of the paper they were on.

Bob,
I think its a great idea! The more help that can be given to a collecter the better.

Just trying to implement Joseph's request. Eventually, I'd like to see a much more extensive Autographs area on the site as a whole. For now, I thought we could add another subforum.

Yep, there's been something in Tuff Stuff about Stan's Sports Memorabilia in the February, March and April issues. The items that are most likely to be fake are ones that have a certificate of authentication from either SCAA or J. DiMaggio.

Also on the autograph front, the May issue of Tuff Stuff had a piece in its Around the Horn section discussing the fact that TracerCode is now out of the "autograph inventory" business. The company has actually been the autograph provider for the National show as recent as last year.

Ok, a new TTM Addresses and Successes subforum has been created and the first address added using one of the names from Joseph's list. wink.gif

Enjoy!

Sounds good and looks good! I've started adding some address that I know are valid. :-)

Thanks!

No problem. Feedback and new ideas are always welcome. wink.gif

You'll notice that the default sort order in that forum is set up to show everything alphabetically as well.

During the season I get most of my minor league autographs at the games. I get some TTM thru out the year. But mostly at the ball parks. I dont have as much luck TTM as others seem to have. I get sick of throwing away stamps so to speak.
