Ok, I know I have a Titans thread, but....
The 2010 Tennessee Titans are abysmal.
We have good players. We have good coaches. Why are we so bad?
The defense is inconsistent; today they gave up nearly 100 total yards to a 3rd string running back. They also can't play without making dumb penalties - key point being one defensive linemen ripping the helmet off of an offensive linemen.
Vince Young, despite playing a solid game, gets hurt. In comes the rookie Rusty Smith. He throws one nice 52 yard pass, but otherwise can't even come close to receivers and throws a pick. Chris Johnson runs for over 130 - but what do we do late in the 4th quarter on 2nd and 3rd downs? Pass with Rusty Smith. Vince Young with an injured thumb would have been a better option.
I'm at loss for (any more) words.

QUOTE(cardinal @ Nov 21 2010, 06:30 PM) As a Titan faithful, and a former huge Vince Young fan, I would not be mad one bit if he was trashed. He is not a real QB, and just simply isn't fast enough to make up for it. He's a turnover machine whether he's passing or running. He doesn't have a huge arm, and is just a flat out HORRID decision maker. Their whole QB situation is so frustrating as a fan. With VY under center, this team will NEVER contend for a Super Bowl. Come on, please! His interceptions have been drastically reduced this year, he is making better decisions with his passes, and his coach doesn't give him any support. I am ready to give up on the great Jeff Fisher. How can you expect your QB to win if you don't give him your support? Jeff has NEVER been behind Vince Young, and with his decision last evening it is clearly visible. I'm sure Rusty or ol' Kerry Collins is going to win us games. It took Fisher six games last year to realize that Collins wasn't the answer - and who came in and performed spectacular? Vince. Michael, go ahead and let them punch me in the mouth - in this mood I just might punch them back!

I've been a fan since '99.
What has Fisher done lately? Critics point to his great ability in maturing players - which he has done in the past. However, what has he done lately? The defense is one of the most immature in the league! Good players but can't control their emotions ON THE FIELD when it counts. Undisciplined out the kazoo - both the defense and offensive line.
Obviously the Titans couldn't have started 0-6 and ended up 8-8 under Collins in 2008 either. Vince's career record is 30-17. He has thrown 10 touchdowns to 3 interceptions this year, with the fifth highest passer rating in the leauge.
Vince acted out of line Sunday but no wonder he is frustrated. Fisher has never given him his whole support, despite what he claimed in his press conference yesterday.

We need to send Vince 2 pit bulls, one alive, one dead (of natural causes of course) and call the cops on him. He'll be the best QB in 2013. QUOTE(dodgerblue38501 @ Nov 23 2010, 11:48 AM) I agree with Cardinal 100%. Vince is a big baby. He has found that the NFL wasn't as easy as he thought it would be. He was a stud in college. Everyone spoon fed him everything his whole athletic career up until he reached the pros. He has the ability to be an elite QB. He just doesn't work hard enough. He is still under the belief that his athletic gifts will carry him through. It took Michael Vick losing everything and going to prison to be humbled and realize that it takes more than ability to be a successful NFL QB. He has admitted himself that he took everything for granted and didn't work as hard or prepare as well as he should have. Now he has his head on straight and look at the way he is playing. Vince is Bud Adams' boy. Bud watched him in high school and college and fell in love with him. The VY from Texas that dominated USC in the National Championship Game is not the same VY that is on the Titans roster. Bud Adams is in love with a player that no longer exists. Jeff Fisher is the only one who gets it. I don't have any illusions that Rusty Smith is the answer. I know he was at the Titans facilities at 7 am yesterday morning. He is willing to work and learn. He doesn't think that he is entitled to this shot. He wants to prove to his teammates, fans, and himself that he has earned it. Who knows maybe in the process the Titans have found a QB. Only time will tell. At least he seems aware that we have a future HOF receiver on the field. Moss was open several times this past weekend and VY didn't even look his way. The AFC South is not a strong division this year. The Titans are 5-5 and sit 1 game out with several division games coming up. All hope is not lost for a playoff berth. Bud Adams ordered Fish and VY to get along and get this thing back on track. VY was placed on IR and is out for the season. That may very well be a blessing for the Titans! I just hope Fisher doesn't see this as a "me or him" kinda thing where he leaves the team because the owner chose his QB over the coach. The Titans have one of the best coaches in the league. He has done more with less over the years than any coach out there. If Fisher does leave who can the Titans get that would be a better fit? The answer is nobody. Chuck Cecil is a horrible DC. I have said that since day 1. Sure the team was getting a of of sacks. That is because every team they face would throw the ball all over us. Chris Hope is awful. Cortland Finnegan hasn't been himself this year. Michael Griffin has played well and Alterraun Verner has looked good at times for a rookie but other than that they have been bad. No dominant linebackers. They have more problems to worry about than changing #10's diaper. The next few weeks will tell the tale. Buckle up it is going to be a wild ride.....

I'll take a leave from my posting hiatus (college busy-time!) to say this:
The Titans stink. They are a much worse team than their 5-6 records tells. In fact, currently they are playing more like the Bengals, Bills, or any (non-Ram) NFC West team.
Rusty Smith is at quarterback. In the backfield sits one of the greatest talents in the game - Chris Johnson. Yet - Chris touches the ball EIGHT TIMES (7 rushes, 1 catch).
This is INEXCUSABLE. As a result of those few carries (which he couldn't get rolling with), Chris Johnson ended up with a career low 5 rushing yards.
Meanwhile, Rusty throws three interceptions to Glover Quin - who is playing with a broken finger and had no interceptions in his career coming into the game.
It was also nice to see Finnegan get thrown around for a change. The little punk got the tables turned for once. Andre was way out of line, but you know something had to have happened to get him that angry.
Just to get a message across, I hope this team does not win a game for the rest of the season. The Titans need a wake-up call, ala last year's 59-0 bashing by the Patriots.
