Upper Deck has signed an exclusive, multi-year deal to produce trading card sets featuring the top players in Major League Lacrosse (MLL).
“Major League Lacrosse is thrilled to be partnering with the elite trading card company, Upper Deck, to offer our fans the opportunity to collect trading cards of their favorite MLL players of today as well our league legends from the past decade,” said MLL Commissioner David Gross.
Founded in 2001, MLL is comprised of six different teams from across North America: the Boston Cannons, Chicago Machine, Denver Outlaws, Long Island Lizards, Toronto Nationals and Washington (Chesapeake) Bayhawks.
Upper Deck’s first set of MLL cards is expected to be released in conjunction with the league’s annual All-Star Game, which is scheduled for July 8 at Harvard Stadium in Boston.
The 2010 MLL season consists of 36 regular-season games that will he held between mid May and late August and culminates with the MLL Championship Weekend, which will be held Saturday and Sunday, August 21 and 22, at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland. The season begins on Saturday, May 15, with a pair of battles between the Lizards and Bayhawks, and the Outlaws and Cannons.

My first though when I saw this was .
HUMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!
Whats next. Professional anglers (fishing) cards. Event used poll swatches, or maybe Event used deck turf?? Or maybe fish scale DNA cards?!!
I recall that UD has done a Pro-Bass fishing set about 5 or 6 years ago.
Ha interesting how about curling they could make professional curling cards
I was going to ask what it is
You'll have to look it up.
I like college lacrosse but didnt know ther was a league I guess
lax is just going to be a "fab" there are to many other sports in america to have lax be prominent enough to have its own cards
I have watched this on the Olympics! Its actually a cool game to watch. Man do they work them broom things fast!!!
This would have been a much better idea had they signed with the NLL ( National Lacross League ) There are 11 teams from all across North America and all in all a better league from what i have seen.
Curling is amazing (just had to get that in there )
Anyways, looks like they have the Lacrosse market monopolized with this. It is a large tight knit group, I can see them making a few dollars on this, but not much.
I guess Upper Deck has to make money doing something.................
Justin
Be curious to se if this turns a profit or not... They will own the market and all 10 collectors will have to deal with UD..LOL
Seriously though, I didnt know there was a pro league.
As a guy who busted a half case of bowling cards, I can relate!
I'm looking forward to possibly purchasing a box or two. Oh, and for those of you doubting lacrosse, last I heard, it was the fasting growing sport in North America.
