QUOTE(snowblink @ Apr 27 2006, 01:59 PM) Last night, a tying goal from Brunette with less than a minute left. Tanguay finishes the game off shortly into the OT with a bank shot. I am curious tho...for those being so surpirsed with the Avalanche performance...the Av's have been an elite team the 10 years they've been in the league, did people really think the loss of Forsberg would drop them into the bottom tier? I won't argue that it made no difference...but Sakic, Hejduk, Tanguay and Svatos aren't mystery names...and for defense the Av's smoke the competition in blocked shots. So is it a real feeling the av's lost something, or just a bit of jealousy? The Avs have great offense, but seemed to be missing a great goalie and defense. Yes they have some good defenders, but they have not been playing great all year, Blake started off bad and got better as the season progressed. As for Goalies Jose has not done it and I thought with the layoff he would not be on top of his game, and Budaj is a rookie who has not captivated like other rookie goalies have. Looks like they are doing better than expected or their opponent is not living up to expectations.

Missing a great goaltender, well can't argue that, but then Roy is the comparison many times, which can be a tough trail to follow...Theodore can play a better game and needs to thru the next rounds. Defensively tho, there were really only 4 players who had minus numbers (May didn't play all that much, and Dowd's numbers are tainted by the hawks performance) still the team rated a +9, so although the av's scored a basket of goals, the defensive numbers turned out pretty good thru the regular season... But now it is the playoffs, new season. The game tonight will certainly be worth watching
