So, you have my Lions taking an offensive lineman first round. I don't know much about these college guys yet, but after looking up some info on this guy, he seems to be a good pass protector on the left side, which is where Backus plays. Backus takes a lot of crap for being the guy that missed his block that got Stafford injured this year, and the Lions' offensive line as a whole takes a lot of crap for it, too - but the Lions actually gave up the sixth fewest sacks in the league this last year. Their offensive line is pretty strong, despite all the quarterback injuries. I'm not convinced Schwartz will take an offensive tackle in the first round, unless Solder actually is the most talented player available at that point in the draft.

You must protect your investment of a #1 pick, and Backus isn't a franchise LT that I think can do that. Stafford can't be getting hurt the way he has the past 2 seasons if the Lions want to finally move out of the NFC North cellar.
