MAJOR overhaul. I'll probably sell really cheap or might even give away a lot of stuff. I should have everything ready by the end of next week.

Mark Ingram Jr is now on my radar. He is also the ONLY target on my radar. I know he's not due out another year or so, but I will wait and gather up whatever financial resources I can spare and will come hard when the time is tight.....

Will will forsake most of my collection activity with the exception of the Cincinnati Bengals.

My team, Sidepockets, has advanced to the final round after winning three matches (playoff elimination). On Monday the 15th we face Dead Rabbits.

entry Sep 4 2008, 07:12 AM
This is the 3rd time in a row my team has made it to the playoffs. And we've been playing for only 3 seasons. We enter the playoffs as 2nd (of 6) in our division, 3rd (of 21) for Wednesday teams and 7th (of 51) for the league.

We don't blow out opponents, but we do have very good damage control. We might have the offensive power to blow teams out of the water, but we minimize our losses. We lead the league in the fewest number of losses. Our strategy of "if you must lose, lose by one" seems to work.

Last season we made the money-round. Things look tougher this season.

Last season, as team captain, I made a strategic move to get us as far as we can into the playoffs. I substituted two guys, "Killer" and "Playboy", in place of me ("Captain Little Gut") and "Formula 1". "Swiss Miss" and "K2" were the mainstays. "Killer" swept and went undefeated. Oh, the carnage. "Playboy" is the stronger of the two and had the toughest matches. He kept it close against his opponents who were the top players on other teams. Both these guys are unavailable this season - one quit team competition, the other has a wife. Enough said on that.

I just hope we are good enough to get into a money round.

I really hate gout.
I know what it's like not being able to walk.
Lifestyle change.
No more red meat.
Rather, no more meat - period.
A steak lover has just been placed out of existence.
Lest I dare to feel the pain again.

Updated my Cleveland Browns page with 4 more cards (Stamp, Threads, and SPA dupes).

I thought I would take on Ace in a duel, but the questions all but eliminated my entire collection. I guess I can take solace in that Ace didn't beat me, but beanschat's questions did. It's like going into combat with very sharp samurai swords that you have mastered and then the rules (known only after you get into the ring) state "only double-sided axes, spiked clubs and spears no longer than 6 feet will be used in this contest. Anything else will not be allowed."

So what can one do?

entry Mar 15 2008, 10:43 PM
The Bungles just aren't doing it for me anymore. Their talent is being negated by bad coaching and poor management. Until they do something (anything!) to improve the team and organization, I refuse to follow a team that has become synonymous with stupid play calling and predictability. Therefore, I have decided to take my business elswhere - to an up and coming division rival. This new team I follow has, at the very least, shown a fighting spirit even in a losing battle.

So now, I have realigned my collection. I will concentrate mainly on football. (Still looking for those Ichiro GU gloves and Bill Bergen backs).

Player: Ted Ginn Jr
Team: Cleveland Browns

And I've wasted no time in creating a new team page for my Browns collection.

Been a while since I blogged. I joined a pool league (8-ball/9-ball) and will try my hand at aquascaping a 5-gallon tank. If any of you play pool, I shoot using a Falcon NF-1 with an OB-1 shaft that has a sniper tip. My break cue is a Scorpion NT06 with a buffalo tip.

Nothing really new on the hobby scene other than a full set of jockey tobacco cards (1936?) and horse racing scenes tobacco cards (1939?) I just received last week.

Had things to straighten out and still in the process. But I have not forgot about my contest. It is still on-going.

Good luck!

No way in a million years would I have thought they would print an article about my really tiny Ichiro collection. And with a cover to match. I expected at least two more supercollectors to get on that list. I can join Peter now as "collection published".

I guess that was my 15 minutes.

Due to budgetary constraints I had to cut down my collecting habits to reach a certain goal. I know, I've said this before, but I took a serious look and put down on paper all my spending habits vs my saving habits and the goals I set for 1, 5, and 10 years. I've never seen such carnage. Spending habits by a landslide. Anyways, the remaining pleasure I could afford myself for the hobby consists of obtaining three certain T206s and a pair of Ichiro batting gloves. It ain't much but it would keep me busy since they are not easy to come by, especially the gloves. Sure, it's only a few items, but I really have to really start taking my finances seriously. And that probably means I won't have anything anymore to show & tell. I guess this is where quality over quatity would come in. But it does not mean I won't stop taking about the hobby or viewing box breaks. Just that I collect much less now.

But because of my love and enthusiasm for the hobby - especially those who show enthusiasm for TRUE collecting, I will still grant one random wish per year. 2007 has already been granted. smile.gif
