First things first... What's a blog?

From Wikipedia:

A weblog, which is usually shortened to blog, is a type of website where entries are made (such as in a journal or diary), displayed in a reverse chronological order.

Blogs often provide commentary or news on a particular subject, such as food, politics, or local news; some function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. Most blogs are primarily textual although many focus on photograph (photoblog), videos (vlog), or audio (podcasting).

The word blog can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.

Now that you know what a blog is... Did you know about one of TCC's other sections - http://www.tradingcardcentral.com/forums/index.php?automodule=blog?

As you can see, we have several members who have been blogging for some time! Some members have used their blog to chronicle their collection updates while others have simply chosen to blog about everyday life. Either way, they provide great examples of what this section of the site can provide.

So, are you ready to become a TCC Blogger? If so, simply go to My Controls (link at top) and then use the options in the Community Blog section of the left-hand-side menu to create and maintain your blog.

Or, maybe you'd prefer to simply read what other members are blogging about? That's fine. I'm sure they'd be glad to hear your thoughts on their entries, so feel free to add comments to their blogs.

Now, here's the next tip... When you add a new entry, it's a Draft entry by default which means that only you can see it. In order to make it visible to all of us, you need to click the "Entry Options" button and then the "Publish" button.

If possible, I'd like it where it would be possible to view all new blog updates altogether, and not just per member. For example, a link like the one for viewing new posts - only where it shows the latest blog updates. I am making any sense at all with this?

For a while, I felt like there were so many Blogging sites and not sure which one to use and how to get started. The good news is:

1) Its really easy to gets started here
2) It publishes to RSS .. so you can have your entries from this site hook up to other blogging sites like myspace and Yahoo 360 ..

for example, I just signed up to yahoo360 today .. It has a space where I can link bloggs to it. All I had to do was get the link from my blog here on TCC (the link to is in the bottom right box called "Blog Links"

Click on where it says "Syndicate Blog (RSS)" It will take to to a code with XML. All you need is the URL from the top of the page, mine looks like this:

http://www.tradingcardcentral.com/forums/index.php?automodule=blog&blogid=18&cmd=syndicate

and paste it into anywhere where it says RSS feed.

You actually need to edit your entry to publish it. By default, the entries are in draft mode so that you can work on them until your satisfied and then publish them for others to see.

Speaking of blogs...I noticed that some members seem to have the option to approve comments to their blogs...however, I do not have this feature...are there some settings not available to me??? If not, I would like access to them.

I've the same question. Before, I've posted on your blog without trouble, but now it has to be 'approved'.

On the same note, on one particular blog of mine, one member posted a comment, yet I couldn't approve (so it didn't show up except to me). Another member posted on the same blog of mine.....and it showed up.

Specifically on my blog? That's weird, because I've never gotten notice that there were things waiting to be approved...as noted, I have no settings related to that I can find in my blog area

Also, all the old comments (pre-february) that were in my blog have gone missing since the site had issues a while back.

That's like, I've posted a comment on your blog, but it wouldn't show up for me. When I go to post, I see this above the fast reply box:

"Your comment will not show up until the Blog owner has approved it"

Also, 2000_rushing_yards has posted on my blog before. It won't show up to anyone else, but I can see it (it has a purple background opposed to blue). But, I can't find an option to approve anything. One member's comment will show, while another won't.

At first it seemed that comments could not be left for others blog entries, but could still be left on your own postings. Now I can't even add a comment under my own entries...

I also seem to recall there were comment settings (approve, allow without approval, etc...) under the Blog Settings menu...and no longer see those...maybe that has something to do with it, not sure...

I modified some of the group-based permissions and then also ran a number of maintenance tools related to blogs. Do you notice any difference?

I can add comments again it appears. To both my and others.

Still got the notation when posting a comment on another's blog that it would need to "await approval"...so I still can't find the settings I thought I remembered on that note...
