Collector Zone _ Everything Else _ Personal Milestones and Announcements

Posted by: sasports May 3 2009, 08:44 PM

Ladies and Gentlemen:

I like to think that everyone here on TCC is like a huge family. And its important for families to share their happiness, their sadness, and everything in between. This thread is going to be dedicated to just that. Building a stronger bond between the family members of TCC!

Post up anything that you would like to share.

If you have a new addition to the family baby.gif , please share so that everyone can congratulate you (and by all means feel free to post pics of the new bundle of joy!).

Just married wub.gif , let us know! We would all love to pat you on the back. Plus your family is our extended family! Give everyone else a chance to welcome them in!

Recent death in the family sadwalk.gif allow us to give our condolences and share our experiences with you to help you through your hard time.

Whatever it is that you would like to share, this is the place to do it.

If you have any questions as to whether or not your announcement is appropriate to share, please PM me first.

I am very sorry to hear that. I hope your family is coping well.

My grandmother passed away from last year during my tour in Iraq. I know how hard and taxing it can be on a person.

Posted by: Ilovetheheat May 10 2009, 02:12 PM

I dropped out of my BA program for a few reasons last year.
I took out another loan and went back to school.... But this time a trade school.

I took my ASE (Mechanic) certification on the 7th. Im confident I passed. If I get the Master ASE certification I can literally demand $30+ a hour at any job I apply for.

I plan on going back to college next year and buying house within five years. Somewhere in there I'll get married to my girlfriend. We've been together for a little over 7 years.

I'm assuming that you "played" at least half of them before consuming them. I think it's a law you have to "do-da-do" into at least $15-20%/ounce.

I too graduated on Tuesday night. It was the most overwhelming thing iv ever went through. To have my aging, ailing grandmother there to see it was all iv been praying for for the last 2 years. When I showed her the diploma at the end we both broke down.

Posted by: Tarasadie17 May 29 2009, 11:51 AM

Wow, major congrats Chip and Joe!! toot.gif That is awesome!

I am going to disagree a bit with the other fine folks here, the best years of my life were between the ages of 19 and 27.... I went out and saw the world, had no family responsibilities, it was a great time...

I hope you two get a chance to get out and experience some of the many wonderful things out there.... smile.gif

Posted by: sasports May 29 2009, 12:31 PM

Dont get me wrong Michael! I loved my younger after school years. But I also loved the high school years were like it was said before my only worry in the world was graduating and getting a cute girls number!

Posted by: Kmart6nets May 29 2009, 01:11 PM

I also have to disagree... I wish I was still in COLLEGE!

Posted by: jwman92 May 29 2009, 01:14 PM

Posted by: sasports Jun 16 2009, 08:50 AM

how is everyone doing today?

Posted by: Ilovetheheat Jun 17 2009, 09:10 PM

I grew up not knowing anything about my biological mother......... I spoke with my biological father tonight and for the first time in 23 years I know my ethnic background.... Well sorta, lol. My mother was from a small town in Michigan and was a blue eyed and blonde Caucasian. My father was a dark brown skinned African American man from a small town in Georgia. Here's where it gets tricky.... My dad is mixed with two different Indian tribes and some white a few generations back....

It feels great closing this chapter in my life. I was teased in elementary school for looking weird but that changed in middle school after I started punching people. tongue.gif My biological father shared some disturbing things about he and my biological mother but Im glad we had the conversation...... He wants me to find my half sister from my mothers side back in Michigan and wants me to meet my (3) half brothers from his side in North Carolina. Im not sure if Im ready for that..... mellow.gif

I dont have any friends and my girlfriend and I split after 7-8 years and I needed to tell someone, so I thought Id tell my family here. smile.gif It feels good letting things out now and then.

Take Care.

sasports wanted me to post up and say he would be away from the computer tonight and would not be able to get on until saturday at the latest.he said any trade going on might be a little delayed going out due to him having to have a surgery today.

Posted by: sasports Jun 27 2009, 07:21 AM

Thanks Shawn!

As Shawn Said I was away fromt he computere for a little while due to having a suprise oral surgery. 2 weeks ago I had 2 teeth pulled. The dentist ended up breaking my jaw in 2 places without realizing it. So after a couple weeks of excruciating pain I went back about 10 times. They finally realized they messed up and told me that they would fix the bone issue in a month! ohmy.gif I threw a fit and so did my boss! So they saw me that day! However, the refused to put me to sleep! So I sat there wide awake while they sliced my gums from one side of my jaw bone to the other! Then they "shaved" my bone where it had started growing back wrong. After all was said and done I have 38 stiches in the roof of my mouth!

At least they gave me tons of medication for the pain though! I am taking 800mg Motrin and 35mg Percacet! Needless to say the pain is minimal now! And I have lost 6 pounds since the surgery on thursday! ohmy.gif

Posted by: Kmart6nets Jun 28 2009, 09:18 AM

And I have lost 6 pounds since the surgery on thursday! ohmy.gif

I have a new baby cousin! biggrin.gif My cousin and his wife had a baby girl Friday morning. Her name is Sarah Lynn Shea N. She's my cousin's second child. They had a baby boy last year. He's 11 mo old now. His name is Nathan John N. Hopefully I'll get to go down there to visit in the next week or so. My aunt and her family from Michigan are also going to be down for a couple of weeks. I'm hoping I get to see them before they go back.

Sarah is the 2nd granddaughter for my aunt and uncle. They also have 2 grandsons. It's kinda funny, my aunt and uncle had a boy and a girl and then they each had a boy and a girl.

how is everyone doing today?

Posted by: bob_TCC Jul 12 2009, 05:58 PM

Here's a personal milestone related to dieting...

As of today, I have lost 20 pounds since the start of the year. 16 of those pounds have been lost in the last 3-3.5 months, ever since I started tracking calories using an application on my iPhone. wink.gif

Stress and working long hours are probably helping some as well (but hurting in other ways).

Congrats Bob! I wish I could loose some pounds! The Army wants me to weigh 218 and I am at 260 right now! OUCH!

Posted by: Kmart6nets Jul 12 2009, 07:09 PM

Congrats Bob - that's GREAT news... After having lost 30 pounds last year I gained 20 of them back THIS year... I'm trying to reverse that around again starting last week.

Congratulations Bob! I wish I could make myself count calories. I just like to eat too much! My wife has started trying to get me to go walking with her, and start working out again. I'm fairly sure she'll end up winning this battle (like she does all the others), but I'll try to hold her off as long as possible. laugh.gif

Honestly, I still generally eat the same type of foods - other than changing to diet drinks. I just make sure that I stay below the calorie limit for a given day. For example, a 10-piece chicken nuggets from McDonald's is about 425 calories - filling and less calories than many "healthy" foods. It's all about the mathematical equation of making sure you consume less calories than your body burns per day. wink.gif

Related to exercise, I haven't incorporated exercise in the way that you'd think. Instead, I've worked in things like swimming in our pool, shooting hoops on our court, tossing the football and more. In other words, casual sports = exercise. biggrin.gif

I didn't know that about the nuggets. I'm going to have to get myself an iPhone! laugh.gif I wouldn't say I have a terrible diet, as far as WHAT I eat. I think my main problem would be how much. biggrin.gif

EXCELLENT NEWS! You are doing great! I am actually hoping to reach some sort of goal in the twenties/thirties by christmas! I have lost about 15 pounds since the move (due to bareley eating, lots of excercise and hours on the beach!) but still need to loose a ton more before the Army says I am no longer FAT!

And to help out with having a girl in February, my time lately has been taken up with picking out a home. We started looking (more seriously) in August and after seeing about 40 homes, finally decided on one. This week we are getting ready to move into a 3 bedroom, 1 3/4 bath a few blocks away from the 2 bedroom apartment we currently live in. We close/obtain keys for the house on the 14th. Boxes are starting to pile up (and no it's not the baseball card collection), going to start packing up the kitchen tomorrow. Taking some time off from work, about two weeks of leave starting on the 15th to get the ball rolling, have a moving party on the 18th for the heavy stuff and in between have my son's 6th birthday party at my father in-laws on the 17th, attend an airshow (Raptors and Reapers) at the base on the 24th and Halloween. Most everything should be in place, utilities transferred on the 19th. Not stressing too much, excitement is setting in. Boy the next couple of weeks are going to be busy.

Posted by: sasports Oct 13 2009, 01:20 PM

Very nice! Hopfully your move goes really smooth!

Posted by: Stlouisrams1600 Oct 13 2009, 10:08 PM

Forgot to update my surgery, I might have to get a Knee Cartilage replacement in the future figure more about that tomorrow. But, I have a 9-10 inch incision down the middle of my knee. It looks so so gross. laugh.gif But they found a piece of my knee cap moving around that's what was causing all of this. Very painful.

Here's an update on my move, it is going pretty well. Just have a few more things at the apartment to move over here to the house. Spent most of yesterday organizing what is left over there and emptying out closets. We are pretty much set up as far as everything goes (utilities, cable, internet). Got our refridgerator and deep freezer delivered on the 19th, mail is starting to show up here, updated my address in my profile. Going to spend this morning bringing more stuff over, then go out to the base for the airshow and get back home in time for game 6 of the ALCS.

I got a new HP laptop last week... and it's AWESOME... Blu-ray player, 17 inch widescreen, Windows 7... It's a huge step up from my crappy old desktop I had for the last 6 years (that happened to be dying).

I'll try to find a link to what exactly I have later tonight.

I also get to miss the last month of my schoolyear smile.gif The best part is I'm working nights, so while other highschoolers are in class, I'll be sleeping in!

I never did post this, even though it happened in early November, but I landed my first real post-college* job. It was a promotion in the same company I have worked part-time for for the past 5+ years while I was going to school. It is a management position that I have coveted for a long time. Despite my lack of experience(most people that have had this job were near retirement age and had a LOT of management experience) they felt I was capable of doing the work. By now I have been doing it for four months and am loving it. I like the pressure and the higher goals, I like working with lots of different people, basically I just love my job!

* Not actually POST college, I will still need a few night classes to graduate. That said, I am almost there and this job generally requires a college degree, but I got it anyways. That's just how awesome I am. wink.gif

I went for my check-up MRI today and everything went great.

The tumor showed no growth; it's basically the same size (pea-sized) it was when it was discovered in March 2008. Praise God that everything went ok.

My next check-up is scheduled for March 14, 2011, bumped up to a yearly scan instead of semi-annual.

Ladies and Gents!

I have some very exciting yet worrisome news!

I have made the promotion list to the Rank of E-5! This promotion will carrry with it a raise of nearly 500 dollars a month! Not to mention that it would make me a non-commisioned officer! I am so excited.

However, I can only get promoted if I meet the Army weight standards. At this point I am so close to passing or failing that at any given moment i could do either! If I pass my wieght test in the morning I will be Promoted on the first of June! If I fail I will have 1 month to try to pass and hope that my promotion is still available. Wish me luck!

Posted by: edgerrin32 May 25 2010, 06:41 PM

Good luck!!

And when you start getting that bonus, just hit me up I will help you to spend it! You wont have any new money, but plenty of new cards! laugh.gif tongue.gif

That's awesome, my boy had his B-Day the other day and I took him to his first yankees game. Hoping to catch A-Rod's 600th ball, the only thing i got was at the end of the game, my boy took his yankee jersey off and started asking Tampa bay players for their autographs. He officially turned his back on the Yankees and became a Rays fan. I am proud of him because he walked away as a good fan and as long as he sticks with the Rays we are good. Once a team member always a team member. he is a huge fan of Sean Rodriguez who told him to keep his head on straight and remember to squish the bug.... a term when hitting. He is officially a Rodriguez fan as well as myself.

So... I've been looking for work for three months, because the manager at store I worked at is a complete idiot. Luckily for me, the district manager said she'd keep me in mind if a job became available...

She did remember me, and she got me a job at new store they have at the airport cool.gif So if any of you are ever in Denmark, stop by biggrin.gif

Today when picking up my cap and gown I discovered that I will be graduating with Summa ###### Laude honors.

This is the highest of the "###### Laude" honors; it goes from ###### Laude to Magna ###### Laude up to Summa ###### Laude.
