QUOTE(bob_TCC @ May 21 2005, 10:17 PM) Well, my wife and I are taking our youngest son (will be 3 at beginning of August) to his first baseball game tomorrow. We'll be seeing the Rockies at the Pirates at 1:35 and he'll be getting his first bobblehead (some kid's version). I think he's ready, but we'll find out tomorrow. He's been talking about it for the last week, so it should be a blast. Plus, it's my first game of the season. We'll see if the Pirates can finish the sweep and move to 1 game below .500. -Bob I wish my son's first baseball game had been a major league game.....instead it was a AA game at the Midland Rockhounds when they played the Frisco Rough Riders. He had a blast....we all got extremely sunburned...but it was a lot of fun. I'm going to try to get him to a Rangers game later this year since they're my favorite team and the only pro game within a six hour drive from here.

Well, the Pirates ended up losing 4-3 yesterday. However, we had a really great time so it didn't matter. The Pirates got up 1-0 in the bottom of the 1st inning, but then made a number of mistakes during the middle part of the game (including dropping a fairly routine fly ball) to get down 4-1. Things got more interesting in the bottom of the 9th though... The Pirates scored 2 runs to make it 4-3 and still had runners on first and third with 2 outs. The batter fouled off a number of pitches, then went to a full count before finally popping one way, way up in front of home plate that the catcher dove to catch for the final out. Plenty of excitement at the end which was fun. My son really enjoyed himself as well (especially his bag of popcorn) and actually kept his attention on most of the game - taking turns between my wife's lap, my lap and an extra seat between us that no one was in. So, here's the wrap-up: Parking - $12 2 adult tickets (lower level on first base side; about 3/4 way between home and first - best seats I've ever bought) - $27 each = $54 Oliver Onion mini bobble-head for my son - Free (giveaway) 2 orders of nachos, regular Pepsi and large Pepsi - $22.25 Bag of popcorn - $3.50 and... My youngest son saying "Come back soon, Daddy?" on the way out - Priceless -Bob

Is it for all games or just weekend day games ? Its a nice way to encourage families to go .. -Jim

Yesterday, I just told the person at the ticket window that we needed 2 adult tickets (while holding my son) and then he didn't say anything about a ticket for my son. They gave me the 2 adult tickets and we went in without anyone saying anything about not having a ticket for him. Just now, I found something though that says that children 30 inches or taller require a ticket. He's asleep right now so I'm not getting an accurate measurement, but I think he may have just passed that limit. Anyway, yes, they allow children under 30 inches in for free - for any game. -Bob

I've started taking a new defensive tactics (martial arts) class....with the kids around I get a lot of practice on the breathing techniques they are teaching. Krav Maga apparently has more uses than just self defense!!!!!

QUOTE(bob_TCC @ May 23 2005, 10:19 PM) Adding more than one to the mix often does change the dynamics. By the way, I measured my son after he woke up... 37 inches! -Bob Somehow, this thread reminded me of something I heard on the Bob and Tom show. It was a guy talking about going to the circus when he was a kid. He came from a poor family and they couldn't afford to take him to the Barnum and Bailey circus when it came to town so they took him to a "cheap" circus. They had "Giant Midgets", the worlds first "stripeless" zebra (just a white horse), and a beared man!!!!!!! They way he put it on the radio was hilarious.
