It is a buyers market right now, but yeah BV has no meaning at all far as selling goes (it can be used for trading and is still used by many), have to search Ebay and look at completed listings to see range the same card been selling at lately. Not saying that some don't make offers way below that amount, as they are trying to take advantage of someone (make money by buying and reselling). Some of it comes from folks listing things for an amount they will never get (like way out of touch with reality prices), older cards for my PC and they will list it for higher than Beckett even for an older insert or GU that not a low numbered card, which causes folks get used to making low ball offers as folks take them (if folks didn't they wouldn't do it so much IMHO). Just have to roll with it, if it is so low it is insulting then don't bother trying to counter offer or reply, if closer to what you want then do a counter offer and see what happens. Just check completed listings and make sure you are not a large percentage listed higher than what they been going for, or if not worried about moving it then list it for what you want to get out of it or you will just keep it price.

Ok let me clarify what I am selling which may help my statement make sense. I am not selling common inserts or rookies. I am selling serial #'d 1/1's, low #;d essential credentials, and super tough inserts (sel cert premium stock mirror reds for example) I would never think to offer 425 for a $150.00 card of a hall of famer where there are 20 and it is a PSA 9 o2 $20 for a $120.00 essential credential #'d to 14 which has not been seen on ebay in a super long time. I could see with an insert #'d higher but these are no b.s. cards I did get a reasonable price for the 4 1/1's that sold this week but declined a ton of "offers" Here is what I am talking about

The market has really changed on some of that stuff, as well as other factors. As for the market, the 1/1 market is so over used (too many not real 1/1s being listed) and over populated (too many produced) that they don't garner much unless a super hot rookie or superstar player. As for things numbered above 1, the same thing, I remember 10,000 being a low numbering for a card and them selling well in the 90s, now you have cards less than 100 and can't get 1/2 of what you could on the ones out of 10,000. As for the other factors, as older collectors quit the hobby, the new ones don't really get into the older players unless a legendary player whose name will live forever like Jordan, Gretzky, Ruth, etc. We want those old players because we watched them in their glory, new collectors are focused on who they are watching now or tomorrow. Some collect the older guys, but more focus on the newer guys who are hot now and are expected to be the names of the future.

QUOTE(Ilovetheheat @ Jul 31 2013, 11:28 AM) Lastly, you can always auto decline offers that are below a value you set. (In case you aren't already doing that) Jeremy is that a feature in ebay when you put a BIN? I don't use that feature very often, but if that exists I might be interested in trying it someday.

I do have the BIN set high with a resonable setting for accept on all the BIN items. I was ok with where the 1/1's went (right around $50 each all were non gu/au) and some of the other stuff is ok The premium stocks are hurt, like most mirrors by the lack of numbering and the 'ss' is a secondary card which hurts its value more. Items that are super rare like the credentials will eventually sell, I know that it's just the dumb offers that bug me. I offer at least 1/2 on the BINs i like and usually more but I am dealing in tougher HOF autos at that point not cards. Ive been stocking up on hall of fame autos like there is no tomorrow and even certain cards (kind of reverse prospecting if you will.. items like 93 finest refractors and certain #'d sets) I think steve has seen my side project and I am selling off some higher end cards to pay for auto authentication and to dabble again in my Roth it doesnt really offend me just make me smh at it
