Personally, I hope those guys all choke...

....of course, none of them are on my fantasy team... wink.gif

I choose Brees #1 last year...he is realistically the only one I care about on this team outside of the fantasy world because we are both Boilers. wink.gif BTW, Kyle Orton is available, probably will pick him up too just for prosperity sake. biggrin.gif

Did somebody say Drew Brees & Purdue?

I think its a great team...

Seems fairly solid, definitely like the WR Duo of Batman & Robin, classy move! The only thing that scares me actually is Brees, you know, with him having to break the Madden Curse and all...(and the Saints have to play my Vikes next Thursday)

Tarasadie....... jawdrop.gif jawdrop.gif ........awesome.

TinCastle.....my 2 favorite football teams are the Colts and anyone who plays the Vikings (it pains me to know Ray Edwards, a Boiler, is on the team). I hope Brees shreds that defense and all-world secondary.

The Batman/Robin thing actually kind of scares me for OP's sake. Also, normally I'd hope your Smith is Steve Smith of Carolina, but in this case I'm hoping it's Smith of NYG. If it's Smith of Carolina, you're going to have a tough week 6. Smith, Ochocinco, and TO will all have the day off. That's why I don't like taking two guys (especially in the same position) from the same team. Best case scenario, you only have two on bye week that week and have to hope none of the others are injured.

In any case, I think you should decide whether you prefer Ochocinco or Owens and trade the other. If it was me, though, I'd trade both. I'm honestly a little worried about the egos on that team and what kind of problems it could cause for fantasy owners. I wouldn't want to make a gamble and pick one just to have him decide to not play because of his ego. Of course, I could be completely wrong and maybe they'll be #1 and #2 for fantasy point scorers. Only time will tell. In any case, that's my opinion. smile.gif

I inherited this team from last year. It is the Carolina Steve Smith, and he, with Owens were VERY late acquisitions for me. Had no idea tweedle-dee and tweedle dum would be on the same team. The Madden curse bothers me a bit, but Orton and Roethlisberger are available and McNuggets (McNabb) is not a bad QB to have as my back-up.

Posted by: yilduz Sep 3 2010, 12:36 PM

As far as the Madden curse goes, I'd say just watch Brees early on and if he isn't putting up numbers, get rid of him quickly and grab Big Ben. His suspension was lowered to 4 games today, so he'll only miss the first 4 weeks and McNabb could start for you until then. If he is putting up numbers, though, I'd start to worry about injury. Either way, I wouldn't be ashamed of McNabb as your backup, that's not terrible at all. In one of my leagues, he's a starter on someone's team (although it is a 20 team league). I'd stay away from Orton, though.

Considering it's Smith for CAR, I'd start looking at the other teams. You're going to need to make some trades before week 6 or you're not going to have a fun week when it comes time for them to all be off.

I doubt Ben is available, he has been getting drafted in most leagues, especially deeper ones...

I'm actually really surprised he's available, too. In fact, it might be worth it to pick him up anyway.

What I would normally do in a situation like that, is trade two players for one player to get more talent in that position (trade to someone that lacks depth, obviously) and then pick up Ben. It has been working for me in a few leagues. smile.gif

No kidding....here is a short list of free agents in my league right now:

QB's: Big Ben, Orton, Ryan, Hasselbeck
RB's: Forte, C. Benson
TE's: T. Gonzalez, Z. Miller, G. Olsen, J. Finley
DST: Steelers, Titans
WR's: D. Jackson, B. Marshall, Boldin, Cal. Johnson, Manningham, Evans

I have 3 spots yet to fill on my roster. I have waiver pick #7. These guys alone would make a favorable fantasy team. Well, including a kicker.

Okay, are you in a two poerson league or something? How in the world can Brandon Marshall and Boldin and Calvin Johnson still be free agents? unsure.gif

I think these guys were dropped at the end of the season by teams who were not going to the playoffs. Why they did this, I have no idea.

Posted by: rnpurdue Sep 3 2010, 01:49 PM

Add Brandon Jacobs, Beanie Wells and L. McCoy to that short list.

Posted by: yilduz Sep 3 2010, 01:53 PM

If you have three roster spots, try to grab Big Ben, Tony G, and Megatron.

Ha! If you don't mind my asking, why the rage against the Vikes??? Just curious, since you root for the Colts (and not the Packers or Bears).

As for that list of FAs, I would be looking at trying to get A LOT of them. You could drop Hightower pretty easily for either Forte or Benson (both of which would be an upgrade there!). Megatron or Marshall would a good change of pace for one of the Bengals WRs (if you want to go with that route, the duo could be a risky gamble that could payoff...). And while Celek looks to be a very solid TE option, I have a feeling that Finley is going to give Dallas Clark a run for his money this year...

Not just a Vikings hater. We (my whole family) don't care for any Minnesota sports, whether it be pro or college. To keep it simple and about sports, I will just say that fans in Minnesota (the MANY I have encountered over the 3 years we lived there) should be ashamed of themselves for teasing children when they are cheering for the other team.

Some of us are a little too "passionate" about our teams, but having lived here all my life, I think the real fan monsters would have to reside in Green Bay (at least from my experience at the always entertaining Vikes/Packers match-ups). I'm assuming that the majority of that was Vikings related??? If it had anything to do with the Gophers though, I wouldn't condone any of that, not a fan of them AT ALL!

I have had the luck to have visited all of the California ballparks on frequent occasions, and it saddens me to say that rudest fans have been at the San Francisco venues. sad.gif

Don't get me wrong, most of the fans are awesome. But it is that one or two over the top obnoxious fans that you remember when you leave the ballpark...
