user-
Any chance that was from the Infowars website? If so, they've been totally discredited so many times it's not even funny. If you want to read a total dismantling of Infowars' conspiracy theory, pick up the issue of Popular Mechanics where they dissect it point by point.
I place no more credibility on these lunatic conspiracy theorists than I did the ones that popped up in the 1990s saying that Bill Clinton imported cocaine via an airport in rural Arkansas and that the bodies of people either he himself killed or he ordered his people to kill were buried there.
As for OBL, he's both a hero to his people and a terrorist to the rest of the world.
He has- thus far- been able to poke a stick into the hornet's nest and escape unhurt. At least so far as we know. Many Muslims have had their minds so poisoned by the Jihadists' perversion of Islam that they will fall down and kiss the feet of anyone who opposes Israel and the United States- even if he is too cowardly to strap on a bomb-filled backpack himself. Martyrdom, it would appear to OBL, is for the followers- not the leaders.
He's a terrorist to the civilized world (which consists basically of the other 4.99 billion people- including Muslims- who recognize that OBL is off his turban). Maybe some nations, like France and Russia, are loathe to state the obvious, but I think even they know the truth about him, even as they fear admitting this truth publicly because of the possibly Muslim backlash within their countries (a very real fear because of the way they have mishandled their immigration policy). But when you have much of OBL's home area refusing to endorse either him or his methods (Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, UAE and other Middle Eastern Muslim nations deplore him and his jihad), you've got to figure that his reach, while long, is tenuous.

Yeah, he's a bad man and number one on my list, but to a lot of people he is a hero. It's interesting to think of him as the George W. Bush of the Islamo-Fascist world. He does what he believes in, as does Bush.
Now, I'm not saying they're the same by any means. I'm simply saying it's hard for us, maybe even impossible, to say whether or not Bin Laden is a bad man. It's the society we're raised in, and it's the convictions in which we live by that mandate what we think of him.
I think Bin Laden is complete dirt, but a smart man. Much like Adolf Hitler was.

QUOTE(jkseb1972 @ Sep 28 2006, 02:55 PM) i think that if Bush had not put our forces over there, he would have repeated his terrorist efforts on our front. people are so quick to put bush down, but fail to see the big picture. he stands up for what he believes is right and doesn't give into popular opinion. had the clinton admin. not left such problems for him, he wouldn't be taking all this undeserved criticism. we should continue to push torward catching bin ladan and try to establish some order over there. as long as the extremists believe their leader is alive and well, they will continue to kill innocent people. Even after Bin Laden dies, Jihadists and fascists will continue to kill people. Most of the time it makes sense to "go after the head and the body dies." I don't feel this is the case. If and when we kill Bin Laden, he will simply become a martyr and an even deadlier breed of terrorists will be born from it.
