You'd better be sure before you make a move.

If it was indeed cashed, scan the cashed check and send the scan to the guy indicating that you would take legal action. That type of evidence should hold up in court.

Wow, that really sucks. Def get a check copy to have proof of the cashed check. Sometimes that could take a while with banks, but some of them have online copies that you can get. Good luck!

Well like they say if its too good to be true IT IS! Contact ebay so they know whats going on. If he turns you in first they will side with him until you can prove your side of things. Turn him in as item not received! First strikes work best!
One bit of advice do not cuss at him using ebays messenger system! If you do you WILL be sorry! I went through the same thing. They will pull all your correspondence between the 2 of you, if it goes that far! Hope it turns out but I seriously doubt it! Good luck!

You shouldn't have done that. Now it just escalates from both sides.

Mike,

Let me simply suggest that you take the same advice I gave about another matter and apply it here as well. There are frauds out there, but don't sink to their level!

Be stern, but always use a professional tone in all your e-mails and phone calls. That way, it will always be very clear to others who is at fault. wink.gif

Plus, use the tools that eBay provides to deal with these matters including reporting the seller and providing negative feedback, etc.

By the way, looking at the big picture, $17 is a pretty small hit to take considering the amount of cards that pass through your hands.

Just my thoughts.

I'm with Bob. If you act like they do you start become like them. Till you get to the point when its no longer fun and just quit! I keep a list of bad sellers and move on. But now I try to only buy from persons with high and good feedback!

You can get a job like mine....get burned on a transaction...go out and find some hapless unfortunate crook and take your card collecting frustration out on them. I got burned for almost $100 this past summer on a deal.....turned around and went to work....made a few arrests and wrote about $1,500 worth of tickets and suddenly felt a lot better!!!!! tongue.gif

i've had some problems in the past on Ebay where seller is probably just disorganised , and misses a transation or two. I don't mind people like that .. as long as you can work out a solution rationally ... but what really gets me upset is when someone can't admit they've made a mistake and gets all heated up about it.

you can hurl tons of abuse at these people .. and not be sure if it will hit them anywhere or not .. they are probably used to people yelling at them and it just bounces off them - while getting you more angry and upset.

These people shouldn't be allowed to deal on ebay.

My thought is you should strike first publicly, by immediately leaving negative ebay feedback saying "check cashed, product not sent. Seller not helpful when contacted". Most people would never buy from someone after reading that feedback. But reading feedback with name calling might lead a potential buyer to believe that the buyer is the crackpot and not the seller.

you should also immediately dispute any negative feedback left for you. Providing bank proof to ebay (so not show the seller they might be a con artist)

Other potential buyers will get the message after a while.

get your staisfaction by realising someone that miserable must live with themselves every day.

Glad you`re getting some response back from this guy. I had a similar situation a few years back. I don`t even remember what the card(s) were/was(I think it was a few Kurt Warner RC`s? ). I won whatever it was from some guy in Lowell, MA. I live in the NYC area and was hauling some cheese up there so I decided to pick up the item(s)and saved on the s/h costs. Bunch of white trash people trying to steal a few bucks. Not from me they ain`t! laugh.gif I did have to get his name address through eBay. I know it was well over a month after I had paid for them. I did get my cards, saved on the shipping costs and made them give me an extra $5. I said it was for tolls, but I bought a pint of Guinness instead! \m/\m/

I no longer deal with anyone who has less than a 99.0% feedback rating. Even still I check out all the negatives first and then decide if I want to take a chance or not. I also use eBay`s block user ID list. This way I don`t have to keep a list of bad people. EBay does it for me. Won`t let me bid on auctions from people on the list and won`t let anyone bid on my stuff who is on there. I love that feature.

Leaving hobby for awhile. Entire football card collection being listed on eBay. Check often. Thanks.

Yeah, each member has this option. You put someone on list and they cannot buy from you and vice versa. So they can't burn you twice. One of the best features EBAy has. I used to have a list on my computer screen till I found this. Makes things so much easier!
