It was 10-1!!!!!! Even if he gets the calls right, the score would be maybe 8-3.

He missed like three noticeable calls in one game though.

I believe he called Swisher out to make up for the botched call with the pickoff attempt on second where Swisher was actually out. I mean, the guy wasn't even looking at the runner. He was staring at the fly out the whole time.

Is he going to umpire the next Yankees game too? I can't wait to see what else he does! Maybe if somebody grounds out to second he will call it a homerun!

That was my thought exactly. I think he would have just left one bad call as a bad call and not added to his already bad performance that night with another bad call.

There is an article of it in the daily news. It was said he was one of the top umpires of the game..... 15 years ago. And they say it's time for him to retire.

There have been blown calls going towards both teams, not just the Yankees. And I think that they should expand instant replay to a system similar to the NFL's challenge system. If they do it right (and Joe Buck said this the other night), they can get the call right within a minute, even less than that, I think FOX had the split screen up within 10 seconds and it clearly showed the result of the play. If they expand it to close plays on the field (throws to any base), determine if a ball is fair or foul (we've already seen a fair ball that bounced into the seats called foul and was clearly fair), or in the instance the other night when Swisher went back to tag up and score from third and he was called out, the umpire was watching the fly ball the whole time and Swisher didn't leave until the ball was caught. They shouldn't allow balls and strikes to be disputed, that should be left alone.

Any thoughts on the expansion of instant replay in baseball? Would it slow down the flow of the game? Or would it allow the game to be called more fairly? I know it seems like the Yankees were getting their fair share of calls their way, but they have had calls go against them, not just in the playoffs.

I agree....it should be utilized for more than just home run calls.

The only thing that should be untouched by replay, as you posted, would be strikes/balls/etc.
