This Friday the NY state senate will vote on a bill that will give gay people the right to marry. A similar bill was rejected in 2009. As of right now 31 out of 62 senators have confirmed they will vote for the bill. 29 out of 30 democrats and 2 out of 32 republicans. The lone democrat opposing the bill is a minister. So for this bill to pass one more republican senator has to flip. Personally I'd love to see this happen, but I don't think it will this year. If it does though I will be quite proud to be part of a state that is helping to bring equality to all people.
How does everyone else feel about this? Especially other New Yorkers?
Here is a quick read on what's going on.
