If you know you're gonna be caught in a funk, why not try to play it off like nothing's happened? Justin Verlander tried last night to tie it up, but to no avail.

Why is that a balk?? He didn't make a move home before stepping off the rubber. Is there something in the rule about not throwing home when you step off?

I laughed so hard when I saw this. Definitely one of the weirdest moments in baseball in quite some time. Verlander and the umps had a good sense of humor about it as well.
