Today's addition, a parallel... I actually don't have many inserts or parallels at all.. They're much tougher to purchase on eBay than AUs and GU.. Oh well, I really like the look of this card, it's very sharp.

I could write a book about your post chopinalex...

Pretty much as soon as he was drafted by the Nets. I loved his intensity at Cincy, and once the Nets got the #1 pick I rooted long and hard for them to draft him. After a tumultuous few days leading up to the draft (and one or two rumors about the Nets leaning towards Chris Mihm at #1 - yikes!), I was hooked. Few players play with his raw emotion and intensity. He will always be a NJ Net in my eyes.



This gets a little more complicated. There is of course the rumor that Kidd wanted him out. He wasn't a perfect coach by any stretch. His rotations were sporadic and seemed to go against the flow of the game. At the same time, he was a very good coach, but as soon as things started to turn south, the pressure mounted and he was axed.

Onto Frank...

He was great for this team when he first started. Set all sorts of not only NBA records, but overall sport records, when he started I believe it was 14-0 in his coaching career. It was a change, he wasn't such a rigid coach as Scott, and the players took to the change.

The truth of the matter is that once Kenyon and Kittles were traded, the identity of the Nets was robbed. Gone were the days of pressure defense, grabbing the loose ball, getting it to Kidd, and sprinting as fast as you can in the fastbreak lanes. The opening day roster the following season included I believe it was 10 players who are no longer in the NBA. The likes of Ron Mercer, Rodney Buford, Zoran Planinic, Eric Williams... etc.

That team started poorly since Kidd missed the first two months or so. Then the trade for VC happened. RJ went down. The Nets rallied and made they playoffs. We made it to the second round last year. Frank seemed like the right choice and was given a contract extension.

Then Kidd got annoyed. (I told you it'd be a long one ). Frank is all well and good when his veteran players buy into his system and show leadership to the younger players. But once it was universally known that Kidd wanted a trade (see: The Migraine Incident), the team became disinterested and distracted. It also didn't help that overall, the Nets really aren't that great of a team. No offensive low post presence, all our best players are perimeter players, and some of our bench players have no progressed as well as last year would have led you to think they would.

Add all of that together and you get a pretty mediocre team whose coach really isn't fit for this young of a team. He's not a great motivator (in case you haven't figured that out by now), and doesn't appear to have much respect in the locker room. There are rumors now that if the Nets miss the playoffs he might be out of a job, and I think that might actually be the best course of action if that's the case. I mean, I'm getting sick of his pre-and-post-game speeches that I hear every game, and I can only imagine the players think the same.

And if you read all of that, you deserve a prize.

i read it...i thought byron was a great coach..but your right about kenyon and kerry kittles n bits leaving..it really hurt the team..now there a shell of a team and i dont know how long VC will be there since he is always hurt..i miss saying kerry kittles n bits..i dont even know where he is now..

Kittles is retired. He got shipped off to the Clippers for a second rounder when Ratner took over. Cost-cutting move strictly. It probably ended up working out anyway though, he had two bad knees and a bad back, which forced him to retire. He served as an unofficial assistant last year for the Nets and was at a lot of the games on the bench.

VC has actually been very very durable since he joined the Nets, and I think that's been overlooked by a lot of people. It's been shown twice now that he can't be the leader of a team, though, and I would favor the Nets trying to move him this offseason, although if I had to guess I'd say he'd still be around.

They're really a completely different team now though. RJ is the only player left who Scott coached here.

Well I got my lot in from ebay today... My best experience yet with ebay. I won a lot with 7 Kenyon Martins... 2 autos and 5 GU (including a patch). Anyway, the seller also included 3 extra GU, some base, and an Uncirculated Xfractor. They also shipped overnight with UPS! There is some MAJOR feedback about to be left for that seller!

Nice card, K-mart had a pretty good game the other night 10 pts, 4 reb, 2 stl. Plus he was the only Nugget that started that had a plus rating which was +2, so you know he's not a liability on defense like the others.

Yeah the design of that 04/05 set is nasty, but you need everything as a super collector not matter how hideous the card maybe. When you ever see some of the others from that set, this card looks like a work of art compared to those.

OK I was far too busy yesterday to upload and update what I wanted to.

In case you were unable to figure out what was going on, I recently purchased all of Peter's (jaderock's) Kenyon Martin printing plates. How many could he possibly have, right? Try 12. That's right. 12 additional printing plates. I have 16 total and I believe 20 total Kenyon 1/1s! (unless I'm overlooking something)

nice add and yes final flair's gu/patch parallels are ridiculous, but the patches are worth it.
