O the 90s-00s inserts. The cuts, the holos, the clear, the colors. Was just a great time for cool cards. 90s junkie here. laugh.gif

Always looking for Edgerrin James and Javarris James cards I need!

**MY WANTS**
-2007 topps tx superbowl ticket stub auto versions only. Base set of stubs is done!
-2001-2006 topps tix super tix superbowl ticket stub cards and auto version.
-Colts Super Bowl tickets from any Super Bowl they played in. Prefer full tickets but would be open to stubs as well. Only tickets from the Manning ERA!
-A Super Bowl ticket or stub from the AZ Cardinals and Steelers.
-Any full ticket or stub that has Edgerrin James on it!
-Edgerrin James- Mostly rarer stuff. Also odd ball type items.
-Javarris James- Mostly rarer stuff. Also odd ball type items.
-Any checklist that has Edgerrin or Javarris James name on it!
-Any cards of the actors from Married With Children.
-Ice-T auto- From Razor.
-Some of the Celebrity GU and autos. Mostly famous movie actors I like. Nothing super high end.

I loved the Marvel Metal Universe cards....

Cool stuff. The cards that looked like the z-team ones like the rink collection pinnacles, loved those styled cards. Holos weren't bad, but my favorite was the Diamond Vision motion cards that caught some of the best action and kept it there for you to watch over and over again.

Ahhh... the memories....

The Franchise inserts...

user posted image

Was always a big fan of the Topps Gold Label "Race To..." inserts, both in football and baseball... just loved the layout and photos, at one point I had all the Red Label parallels of the football versions, not an easy feat considering the ultra low numbering of the Marino versions....

user posted image

I was also a huge fan of the Collector's Edge Timewarp inserts, which spanned many of their products in the mid nineties... they did an exceptional job of photoshopping back in the day.... laugh.gif

user posted image

The Fleer Team Leaders inserts were a rack pack exclusive, and as rack packs were rare these ended up skyrocketing at one point. My brother and I (anybody remember Ron?) stumbled upon two full boxes of these rack packs clearanced at 50 cents a pack at a mom and pop drug store in a little town in Northern California, bought the whole kit and kaboodle and made a killing trading some of the inserts to local dealers.... I remember getting a host of future Hall of Famer rookie cards like Ronnie Lott, Lawrence Taylor, Ryne Sandberg and more... good times, good times...

Michael, Gold Label that was one of the prettiest cards ever produced. I collected the hockey as my favorite, but did pick up some of the other sports just because of the look. My only complaint with it was the over-paralleling with the class 1, 2, 3 and the black, silver, and red labels.

You know, I really wasn't bothered with the parallels mainly because they featured different pictures, at least in the 1998 set....

First off, I'm loving this topic. Late 90's / early 00's - the golden age of inserts and parallels! I agree, 1998/9 Topps Gold Label was one of the sharpest sets ever made. Never owned a red label card but always wanted to. Here are a few of my favorites.

#1. Essential Credentials. These have to be THE prettiest cards ever made. When you see one in person, its like a gem shining in your hand. The 1998 set was my favorite, but 1997, 1999+ also had essential credentials. For '98, these landed less than one per case. The 'NOW' parallel version is bright pink and purple, which works great with the acetate of course. I recently pulled my third one, a Jim Thome #/68.

#2. I was (still am) a Pacific junkie. Too bad they went out of business after that Manny Ramirez corked bat card. Racked up hundreds if not thousands of their reward points from pack wrappers back in the day. 1999 Paramount was sold at my local K-Mart and I remember grabbing a lot of packs from there. The holo-X parallels are very eye-catching.

user posted image

Plus, I collected Maddux. Loved these parallels.

#3. 1999 Bowman Chrome International Refractors. The sweet photography, neat backgrounds, and my favorite Bowman Chrome design of all time. Numbered to 100, these cards look amazing in hand.

user posted image

#4. 1999 Fleer Mystique Destiny. Love the entire '99 Mystique set, and the refractor quality of this insert set makes these cards shine. Gotta dig the serial number stamped on the front.

user posted image

#5. 1998 Upper Deck Tape Measure Titans Gold. Again, serial number proudly stamped on the front. Gorgeous gold leaf border which contrasts so great against the bright red background of the card. This set was interesting, different, and featured some great photography. This one is another piece of my old Braves collection.
user posted image

Thank you for looking! And I hope others continue to share their favorites.

Pacific Paramount 1998-99 in hockey was one of my favorites. The base cards weren't flashy, but it was a nice base set. The parallels were also cool in copper, emerald, and silver, as well as the holo versions which were neat. Ex was another favorite of mine however they did not do much of it in hockey. It is a shame that the hobby has gone to making packs of 4-5 cards all hit with no base. I also hate the exclusive deals as it doesn't foster inventive designs. When there is competition, vendors have to compete to make you want their product, without it they give you what they think you want.

Another thread to check back on.

Out of the ones posted I was a fan of the 99 Gold Label Race To Aaron. I pulled a Bonds Red Label. Sold it to a Bonds collector several years ago.

I also loved those 99 Bowman Chrome International Refractors. I own 2 Bagwells.

Im gonna have to dig to see what I can showcase.
