Tell me about your absolute favorite Christmas tradition.

After a minimum of 5 entries, I'll choose a winner based on my opinion of creativity and perceived sentimentality of the respective tradition. santa.gif

We wake up, do stockings and then make breakfast before opening presents.
For the past ten years, I've helped my dad make breakfast, which means a lot to me because he was my inspiration to do culinary school. And I don't get to hangout with him to much, as I'd like.

I'm not sure what to pick....OK lets go with the Christmas Breakfast tradition. When I was a kid after we would open our presents, we would do it in an orderly fashion taking turns so that everyone could see what you got. We would then have breakfast usually it was scrambled eggs (with a bit of cheese melted in), bacon and/or sausage can't remember if we had both or not, cranberry juice usually with a bit of sherbert on top (lemon or lime not sure which). There might have been a few other things maybe toast and jam/jelly? but the best part was the pillsbury cinnamon sticky buns/rolls with marashino cherrys placed on top (after baking of course). My mom would serve the buns arranged like a Christmas tree, part of the reason for the cherrys on top.

Watching all the classic Rankin/Bass specials - Rudolph, Frosty, etc. - as well as Charlie Brown, The Grinch.... This year has been especially awesome because my daughter is now 3 and she is REALLY into Christmas this year and wants to watch them all - over and over and over... and I gladly oblige! biggrin.gif

for 19 years under my parents roof

All the family came over about 5 pm xmas eve for supper and drinks

and we (my sister and I ) each got to open one gift from the uncles or aunts.

Then the race to stay up until.. Santa.. Nahhhh

Midnight Mass!!

Where we would troop out , the twin great uncles, grandma and my parents and sister

THEN..

If..

We stayed awake in church.. laugh.gif

Home for unwrapping one more gift from the aunts uncles.

Then bed..

Then and only after we were called down..

Presents galore and breakfast of bacon, eggs, toast, juice coffee..

Then dress up for trip to grandma's house for a christmas lunch and dinner with the cousins, presents galore, more cookies, candies,

then home at ninish and massive play time.

Gosh I would do anything to relive one of those with all those folks still alive, just one. sad.gif Id do anything to smell one of Uncle Fats cigar, a cup of grandmas perculated coffee, talking baseball with my cousin Diane, but they are all gone sad.gif

Every year we have a christmas party at my aunt's house with all of the family, aunts, uncles, cousins and family friends. Usually we pick one the oldest nieces and nephews to play santa and his elf helper. We'd all take turns sitting on santa's lap and take pictures of us getting a gift from one of the aunts or uncles picked each year. My favorite year was when my aunt Joyce gave all the boys Laser Tag guns and vests for christmas. We played Laser Tag for years with the toys she gave us.
