Capping off the summer height of golf’s major championship season, Upper Deck will release its brand-new line of high end cards on July 29. 2014 Exquisite Collection Golf is a super-premium golf card set with each pack containing five autographed cards. Retailers are already pre-selling 2014 Exquisite Collection Golf with an average price of at least $600 per pack or higher.

Rory-McIlroy-2014-Exquisite-Golf-Autograph-Rookie-Swatch-Rory-McIlroyHighlights of the set include cards of Rory McIlroy, an Upper Deck exclusive spokesman and winner of the 2011 U.S. Open, the 2012 PGA Championship and most recently the 2014 British Open, as well as 2010 U.S. Open champion Graeme McDowell, 2014 U.S. Women’s Open champion Michelle Wie and rising star Cheyenne Woods, the niece of Tiger Woods.

“Having super-premium autograph rookie cards of Rory McIlroy who is coming off a sensational victory at Royal Liverpool to claim his third major championship only adds to the excitement around this release,” said Upper Deck President Jason Masherah. “A classy sport deserves a sophisticated and innovative product like this.”

Among the special cards that can also be found in 2014 Exquisite Collection Golf packs are McIlroy Exquisite Autographed Rookie Swatch cards (numbered to 99); shadowbox-style, Autographed Exquisite Dimension cards; ultra-limited Rookie Auto Patch Gold Spectrum 1-of-1 cards; what the company calls “the most extensive selection of Tiger Woods-autographed cards in one set”, with multi-autographed cards of Woods paired with other legendary players; Legendary Signature and Signature Masterpiece cards of the sport’s greats from the past and present; and Upper Deck Black Signature inserts.

For a preview of the cards and to watch LPGA star Natalie Gulbis’s excited reaction to the Upper Deck 2014 Exquisite Collection Golf cards as she sees them for the first time and signs them, click here.

Upper Deck specifically worked to have the 2014 Exquisite Collection Golf cards released prior to the upcoming National Sports Collectors Convention (NSCC) held at the International Exposition (I-X) Center in Cleveland from July 31-Aug. 3.

Steve, and anyone else: do you think $125 for one random hit in a 3 box group break of Exquisite is a decent deal?

I'll answer my own question: I think it is a fair deal! I don't feel like going through the stress of shelling out $600 for one box, but giving myself a 1:16 chance at getting the case hit is pretty good. (right?)

No no...5 boxes = 15 hits and 3 base cards. There are 16 spots in the break, either you get a hit or you get all 3 base cards. 125x16=2000 which is roughly the cost of 3 boxes (~$650 each).

GB was today, the 3 box case yielded a Michael Jordan redemption, Ernie Els/Gary Player dual, Michelle Wie auto, Retief Goosen gold ink auto, ChiChi Rodriguez gold ink auto, 2 Stacy Lewis autos, Kevin Stadler, Henrik Stenson, Corey Pavin, one other Goosen regular auto, and 4 other no-name RC autos. 3 base cards with no parallel base cards and no big names.

Overall I'd rate it at a 6/10...I was lucky enough to draw the ChiChi gold ink auto. Honestly I think its a GREAT looking card (great photograph, good border, crisp signature), although the case did not have nearly enough bang for my buck at $1900/case.

Any thoughts?
