Got results back from BGS, All three got 9.0 grades, should be in the mail today, post scans later tonight if they get here today, guess I'm happy with 9.0

Thanks guys, a no show today, so no scan today, But they are coming, the Zetty Top Shelf been through heck and back, got it from Russia, Moscow and just looked at it, same day mailed it to BGS, Can't wait to get it back, all my Pc will go to my kids some day, and hopefully to my grand kids, I hope lol, post them scans within a few days

Well got my grades back last night on my other Two cards I had Graded, And these where the Grades....

2005-06 Upper Deck Trilogy Jim Howard 8.5
Centering 8.5
Corners 8.5
Edges 9.0
Surfaces 9.5


2008-09 SP Authentic Justin Abdelkader FW AU 9.5
Centering 10
Corners 9.0
Edges 9.5
Surfaces 9.5

Im so happy with the Abdelkader, didnt think I would get that, 9.0 at least, but the Jimmy Howard, Bummer!

Get pictures up when they get here next week!

Nice grade on the Abdelkader, too bad on Howard. That is why I don't send in, just too much uncertainty on the grade, then you get an 8.5 and people look at it like it is diseased because it is not "mint", even though graded.

Thanks Brian, yeah Im only doing maybe 10 more, you really got to look at them before you send, the Howard I made the wrong choice, but yeah people do look at a 8.5 as bad, it will be a nice add on to my PC, I'm trying to do at least one good RC of my PC, if they pass my grading grade, been trying to get a good franson YG , after getting three of them , I finally have one worth sending, along with A The Cup Darren Helm Rc, which is incoming, it will be my second one, first one I have has slight ding on one corner, hopefully this one incoming is perfect.

Gonna try luck again, I sent two more cards in to Beckett Grading Services, should have them back in March, hopefully I get 9.5 or.better

Thanks Brian, ok I read what was given to me wrong, The Helm is correct, only 1 card graded 9.5

But not sure on the Filppula and Ericsson, wasn't sure what Pops means, but now I do

Only 2 Ericssons been Graded BGS 9x1 and BGS 8.5x1 one of those are mine

8 Filppula been Graded BGS 9.5x2 BGS 9.0x4 BGS 8.5x1 BGS 8.0 x 1

You would have had to know what the pops where before you sent them in, Guess I will have to wait and see, waiting on email with the True results, odds don't look good

Nice job on the grades. Incredibly tough to get high grades on any thick cards like CUP. I've stopped even trying any thick ones all together.

Yes the thicker cards are harder to Grade, have a few others I wanted to do, but always found something wrong with it! I took a chance at the Ericsson The Cup RC, little wear on the back corner, surface looked good, Borders I wasnt sure of, gold trim around the Patch looked off!

Well, there is a 9.0 and a 8.5, great if its the 9.0, but with these types of thick cards, maybe a 8.5 is not that bad! considering it is tough to get a good grade on them.

I'm so upset about my grades that I will not Grade my cards anymore, its just disappointing to have a card that you think is perfect, to find out its not mint, when it looked good when I sent it out! Sorry about my rant! Ugh!!!! Besides the Helm, I'm breaking the seal on the Filppula and Ericsson case when I get them back!

Grading cards has always proved massively heartbreaking for me too.

Watched graders at shows.

Talked to them

Went home and applied what I learned.

Did the submission to Beckett

and got 8.5 or 8 s on what I thought were 9.5-10's

Vowed to never waste my money again!

Paul, that is the downside on grading. If it don't make it, then the card is worth less than before it was slabbed.

Sometimes I wonder though how accurate those graders are, as I have seen 9.5 cards with printers spots on the face an no notation, etc. and vice versa I have seen cards when compared side by side, make no sense how the grades differed in the wrong way. The card that looked gem got a low grade and the card that looked lower grade got mint.

Just don't make sense, I personally looked at them with a fine tooth comb before I sent them, some of my cards I would never send in because I would find something wrong that the graders would find! Cant wait to see what was wrong with them!

Submitted these last month and just got the grades in, guess I'm happy since they are my PC keepers! I will post pictures when I get them!

Really thought the Filppula would at least be a 9.0, man becket is tough!

If you ask me all of these 3rd party anything out there are garbage! I have PSA 10s and BGS 9.5s that have things wrong with them, I don't have to have a magnifying glass to see it ether! Clear as day. And I have 8's and 9's that are PERFECT! No joke, they look better then the 9.5s and 10's!!! And they say they will not grade fakes, WRONG! Seen those. And cards that never had a auto like card has a auto version and a non auto, see those graded as well. And seen fake patches in graded cases, both PSA and BGS. And as for the autos side of things (authentication) they are even worse! I have seen so many fakes with JSA, PSA/DNA on them its sick. I am just not a fan of someone trying to tell me this auto is real, or this card is this grade and not altered etc. They all are garbage!!!!!!!! No nice way around it. Do as you please but thats how I see it.


Here is a great example of a fake and altered card! That is not even close to Edgerrins auto. Plus all that he signed went from bottom to top on the clear side (he turned the card on its side and then signed them. And they are hand numbered on the front, not a sticker on the back! And they also have a stamp or imprint like punched unto the card on the front, this one didn't! Fleer use to do it with a lot of there autos if you know what im talking about. So did donruss. Im not sure they even looked at this card when they graded it lol. Sadly I bought this back when I first started hard core collecting him, it was one of my first autos, and I believe my first rookie auto. Because his auto has change a lot over the years, but NEVER looked anything close to this. I am so good with his autos now before I ever even click on a listing for a auto of him I can 99% of the time tell you fake or real. Before I ever see a big pic of it, or read about a coa, or anything.











But I now own a new and 100% athentic one! Well as long as it makes it to me.

That just how I feel about those companies.

If you like graded card that cool to. I don't want to change your mind for you! I to like graded cards, when they get the grade they should get. I hope you score some nice grades on other cards! I don't know hockey out side of the really big names so I don't know how good or bad you did. But congrats on the 9.5, I know no matter who it is those are always nice!!!

No worrys Jason, I understand, I have seen members get there cards graded and come back with bad grades and cried so bad about it that he sold them and left the hobby!
I seen some dings on the corners and some rough edges when I send mine, so the grades are about right on the ones below, but I do have some 9.5s that have a dinged corner, but a 8.5 looked the same! Guess its who grades them that day!

All the cards I have graded and get graded are PC items for life, and then to my kids when I leave this world to pass on to there kids! At least its slabed and sealed, not like a 50-51 Parky of gordie howe stuffed in a shoe box and years later get a 3.0 or something, but still worth bucks! So really in 70 yrs when my grand children have the only Graded 8.5 The Cup filppula AU/RC and only 5 can only be found out of 199, should be worth more than $400 asking price on ebay!

Anyways, There are only two graded Ericssons by BGS, one 9.0 and mine 8.5!

Nice cards, sorry the grades weren't better. That is why I don't like getting cards graded as they are too subjective to whomever is grading them and as said I have seen high grades that should not be and low the same way.
